Looking great guys! Our 223 was stuck so we put a 282 y block in our 60. Well now my son is rebuilding the 223 in the shed! Maybe we'll learn something from your adventures too!

Very cool! Thanks for the comment. Too bad you don't have a RUclips channel. I know we could learn a lot from you and your son!

This is an interesting channel. You call yourselves ‘novices’ but have a well equipped shop. Tell us more about yourselves! I dont know if my comments should be worded for a novice and I don’t want to insult you. Also, tell us your plans for the truck. If you’re really going to restore it to original, as gramps drove it, recommend you test drive a similar restored vehicle. These things are really just one step better than a tractor and can be challenging to drive in modern traffic. Here is my well-intentioned feedback for this segment: You can save a bunch of work removing the front sheet metal by keeping it all as one unit, including inner fenders and radiator core support. Unbolt the rad support from the frame, but leave it connected to the fenders. Unbolt the outer fenders at the cab “A” pillar, and remove that rear lower bolt for the inner fender. Disconnect wires, hoses etc. Strap the entire front clip to your engine hoist and it will all come out together, inner and outer fenders, rad support and grill. Please don’t lift it by the grill anymore! Engine: I would have tried to start it before all this disassembly. The 223 six is extremely rugged and will amaze you with its durability and smooth operation. A rebuilt carby, clean fuel, and new ignition parts and it probably would have started.
PS it is a large project but don’t let it overwhelm you. Think about repairing one system at a time, rather than completely dismantling it. My advice is get it running, just like it sits. What you find could alter your plans for the build, before you’ve gotten in too deep. Keep up the good work. I also recommend finding a Ford shop manual for this baby. They are indispensable.

Thanks for the kind comments and for watching! Comments like yours are ALWAYS welcome. We're looking forward to your insights as you watch our other videos that we've published and our future videos! We're definitely novices when it comes to automobiles. But we like learning and the amount of good info available on the internet is astonishing! WRT the shop, we've always lived by the motto that "The proper tool makes a job much easier and more enjoyable!" Also, we believe that getting good tools, even though more expensive, pays off in the long run. BTW, we purchased the 1960 Ford Truck Shop Manual before we even got the truck from Texas. We definitely agree that it is indispensable!
Again, thanks for watching and keep those comments coming!

Just bought a 60’ thinking about swapping onto a Vic with a v8. I wanna keep the old school look with the reliability and ease of something newer. Love seeing it done right by you guys. Wish I had the patience for it.

Love the content, I'm restoring a '60 f100 as well, but lordy the background music has got to go, I have to turn the sound off just to be able to watch, and that's a shame. Can't wait to see how your little beauty turns out.

Do a compressor test on engine b4 spending money on engine parts then go from there.

@@JOTsShop also consider a leak down test at the same time as the compression test.
