  • Today we review my new delivery car a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis.
The Ford panther platform is a piece of American History, The Lincoln Town Car, The Ford Crown Victoria and the Mercury Grand Marquis have all seen their fair share of time as workhorses. Be that by a taxi service or a police department. There are a multitude of reasons why they were popular until they were discontinued.
    -The Grand Marquis are reliable
    -They are built well
    -They are comfortable
    -They get decent gas mileage
    -V8 Engine
    -They are cheap
    -They are cheap to maintain
    -They have cheap parts.
As you can see money is a large factor on the purchase of this vehicle, They are cars that last forever and keep the wheels turning even while they are abused. That makes them great fleet cars for food delivery services such as DoorDash, Postmates, Uber Eats and Grubhub.
I picked this car up solely to do DoorDash and to deliver pizza as a side hustle as it is the only available food delivery service in my area. I am extremely happy with my purchase.
I think everyone should own one!

I drive my 07 Grand Marquis for two years now, and never ever had a single issue with it. Rock proof reliability. Fun fact: I drive this car in the Netherlands, Europe. Keep them on the road!

The Panther Platform as a whole is just UNREAL... I own a 2005 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor and looking to do DoorDash & UberEats, and MAN...I probably dropped a good $4k into the car.
new tranny, sway bar links and bushings, u joints, ac compressor, intake manifold, radiator, belt tensioner and headlights, It comfortable, spacious, easy to work on, parts are plentiful and just all around GREAT. She's not the best on gas in the town but that 4.6L V8 with 250 HP in the interceptor, its HUGE and UNKILLED.
AS my friend says, you treat her like a woman, she will last forever.

I've had my 05 gm for a yr now and I love it. My pistol sits nicely between the armrests💯 Had an 04 interceptor for a few months but it was beat to hell sold it for a small profit. Wish I kept it tho the engine/trans was great everything else was falling apart.

Yep, I deliver in a 2001 TC. Dead reliable, cheap to buy, cheap to fix, easy to get in and out, excellent seats. I get 15-16 MPG on regular west coast E10 fuel. That sounds bad, but it's only 1-2 MPG less than I'd get with a V6 sedan like a Camry.
The TC also makes a good tow vehicle, a big plus for me. Mine has a Class III hitch and a trailer brake controller. Combined with the rear self-leveling air suspension, it's great. How much can you tow? Well, you need a serious transmission cooler to tow more than about 2,000 lbs. Then you choose a rear axle ratio. Look at the tow ratings for same-year Ford F-150; they have the same engine, transmission, rear axle, and body-on-frame construction. Towing capacity increases as the axle ratio increases. With a 3.55, the F-150 is rated at 7,200 lbs, a 3.31 = 6,200 lbs, and a 3.08 = 2,000 (same 3.08 gear and factory tow rating as the TC). I'm pretty sure the base pickup with the 3.08 gear also lacks a serious cooler, which would account for the odd jumps between ratios.
I actually have ridden in the back of more than one Crown Vic P71... but that was a long time ago.

I've been doing delivery of the past 3 years and am definitely considering getting a Grand Marquis or crown. Vic, in the next few months My Pontiac vibe has over 278,000 mi 40,000 of which I put on in one year, can't beat the MPG for the little money I put into the car but I miss having a big V8. Thank you for the video

I had bought a 04 MagM last October for 1200. It had frame work done to it. It has rust on front fender. Lincoln dealership saidI should get rid of it for frame rot. It still handles bumps well and other place such as tires places never commented about the frame

I have owned a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis LS with every option including a moon roof for the last five years. Everything you've said about these cars is true!! You have a GS which is the base model. Mine is an LS Sport. Which is like a Crown Victoria LX Sport. Mine has Leather Bucket Power front seats and center console and shifter. It's slightly more powerful same bullet proof 4.6L V8 with factory true dual exhaust. About 239HP. Would I use it as a delivery vehicle? I would if I had to because it's so comfortable. But that's my highway cruiser. I'm a big fella so I would get a pickup truck. Good luck with your car!!

Things I want in a delivery vehicle.... 1. MPG, 2. Nimble, 3. Easy/cheap to fix, 4. Small (fits in any space), and comfortable. I think it works in more of a rural suburbia, but not urban.

I bought a 2003 Grand Marquis with super low miles about 2 years ago. best car decision I have ever made. Such a smooth ride, plenty of room, good on gas. No stupid new features such as stop and go or like Chevy has switching from 8 cylinders to 4 cylinders to save fuel. I got super lucky and mine is an great shape. Only 1 scratch on the exterior, low miles, no accidents, interior is in great shape, headliner looks brand new no not a single mark on the flip down sun visors.

It's good car, but for delivery (especially in big cities) something like toyota prius are much better! Because prius got a 50-60 mpg when you driving it properly. You can't reach even 20 mpg on panter platform in city

Good review for using the MM for delivery. I have been toying with doing Uber/Grubhub/DoorDash as a side hustle when I retire in a couple of years but was thinking a good used Chevy Spark would be a better vehicle for sprinting around with here in the central Texas area where it really does not ever snow. I say using the MM is good as long as you are able to offset the fuel expenditure compared to weekly income brought in from this side hustle in itself. I definitely agree on your comment, kids are taught nothing in school about personal finance management much less not even an elective class option. Personal finance in HS should be required just like English 1, 2, and 3.

    • @TheHandyJeff
      @TheHandyJeff  3 года назад

@@chadfield376 most definitely have to make sure that you can offset expenses, don’t forget to include depreciation of your vehicle. That’s why I love my Grand Marquis. I bought it for $1000 so I won’t lose out on much putting miles on it.
