Have you had a water leak? How did you fix it?

The leak problem of my LG washer was a clogged inlet cold water filter (blue). Therefore, I would suggest always start with checking both cold/hot water inlet filters before going any further. Soaking it in vinegar and cleaning with a tooth brush solved the leak.

Good on you for repairing the washer rather than replacing. I am a big proponent on repairing items rather than replacing.

A small black rubber tube near the bottom and just inside the rear access panel came detached from whatever it was supposed to be attached to ( I am not certain what it was) on our LG frontload washing machine and flooded our laundry room, hall, kitchen, and basement. Yes, one small detached rubber tube caused all of that. I did not find any clamp, so I reattached the tube (to whatever it is) and taped it for extra security.

Perfect video!!! I loved the entire video. Nice to know I can do some of my own maintenance. However, my water heater leaked. I had to call a professional.

My sisters lg direct drive front loader was leaking into the drum slowly but the other day the cold water valve broke and it was filling up like it was on even when unplugged and leaking out the bottom so today I took it apart expecting loads of rust and damage but it’s still like new on the inside even though it’s a 2007 model. But hers has a sealed panel on the bottom with anti flood protection built in them now.
And new valve on its way in the post. Hopefully will last a couple more years now.

My front loader would not drain, the filter under the machine was clogged. I took the back, top and front panels off, lifted the machine up on blocks, found the filter, got it out cleaned it, put it back reassembled it and no more leak. All front loaders have some type of filter that should be checked/cleaned.

Great video. I’m getting ready to replace my valves. Just FYI, if you ever need to remove the top of the washer again, you can just take off the lower screw on that bracket and the top screw will hold the bracket on the lid.

You did a great video with simple step by step instructions. By the way it is a water heater, not a hot water heater. The water is not hot coming in , it is cold water coming in and then heated. The water coming out is hot, not going in. 😎

Nice job! A common failure. I would also have recommended replacing the hot water valve to help prevent this from happening again.

Michael what you described is possible because of the constant water pressure as long as the water supply valves are open...and keeping the water valves open is common and practical.
