The 3060 12gb still commands a high price for it's gaming performance because while it's not great for gaming in 2024, it's a great budget (relatively speaking for 12gb cards) card for video editors, AI devs, programmers, etc. I know that the 3060 12gb outperforms & can do some things better in AI than 3060 & 3070's because of it's extra vram.
I'm still annoyed Nvidia put more VRAM on this card than the base 3080. But I imagine it's great for a video editing card, probably better than the 4060 for editing
Every 3060 12GB can be overclocked to 2.1GHz, with +500 to memory and undervolt to 1.025V. Considering its cuda core count, its a worthwhile boost to performance, especially on those aib models with only 1.8GHz as default boost clock.

I use my 12GB 3060 for VR. It's perfect for my usage. I might upgrade to a 5060Ti next year if the leaked specs are true, but otherwise I was more than happy buying a 3060 and have been using it for rhe past year+
Don’t do it dude the 60 class is a waste of money these days. A 5060ti will be slightly slower than a 4070 in certain cases because of its 128bit bus and possibly only 8gbs of vram. I recommend at least a 5070 or wait for the 8700xt.

As the 4070 is slower than the 3080 10gb. So 5070 matching a 4070ti is the case. As the 4070 Super is already %25 faster than a 4070. While the 4070 Super is %5 slower than a 4070ti.
I remember Paying close to $600 for mines a few years ago during the Shortage. It also didn't help that I had an ITX Prebuild that was only able to use Single Fan GPUs. But it held like a champ for years. I decided that it was time to part ways. So I build a New PC a few weeks ago. Another ITX PC. but this time I was able to use a triple Fan GPU. so I went with the rx 7900xtx. Loving it so far. now for the PC and 3060. I'm gifting it to my Little Brother for Christmas. It will be his 1st PC and what better then to start with a 3060 lol.
I have the zotac 3060 12gb and I overclocked it +140 core and +1100 memory. It's so close to the 4060 in most games, and runs so wonderfully. I can 1440p game all day no problem. With DLSS which looks fantastic, I can even do 4k dlss balance and it looks so good. You have to use the correct settings for it, it's not a 4090. Popping ultra is gonna wipe it clean.
Yeah the 3060 12gb is incredible. I paired it with a Ryzen 5 5600 with 32gb DDR4 3600 ram for a budget build. It’s faster than the base PS5. While having both a superior CPU and upscaling over the PS5 Pro.
@@ZackSNetwork ps5 also has a really realllllly bad cpu!! It can't even hold 60fps in so many titles in cpu intensive spots. It feels terrible. I had a ps5 pro too! I sold it. It felt really bad. With this machine I can adjust things as I wish and get a solid 100fps anytime! 5600 is a great cpu as well, works very well.
50 series vram should be as follows: 32gb for 5090, 24 for 5080, 16 for 5070, 12 for 5060, and 8 for 5050. Not even counting ti and super versions. 8 just dont cut it for anything beyond entry-level 1080p.
I ran my 3060 on a 475w psu old Lenovo S20 workstation with the Xeon w3690 cpu and it was fine - I run 3090 on 750w psu so you will be fine running 3060 on a 550w psu 👍
I had this exact card, then i found out about the gigabyte triple fan cards cracking over time at the pci-e slot teeth on the end nubbins bit. I moved mine to cex then ended up on an Asus Rog 3090 oc 24gb. The worrying gigabyte cards for pcb cracking over time are the triple fan 3060, 3070, 3080, 3080 ti, 3090, 3090 ti - basically any heavy gigabyte ampere cards btw all 👍
@ProYamYamPC I think you are correct in that the Gigabyte triple fan 3060 'might' be safe but I couldn't run the risk as I had to pay £600 for mine back in 2021/2022 so I moved it on to CeX. The reason the concern is so bad is due to Gigabyte actually had the brain fart to run circuit traces through that pcie retention part of the PCB - total madness levels of lunacy. Gpu support brackets should allow owners of these cards to reduce the risk of failure but I just wasn't comfortable chancing the ticking timebomb 👍
Great video bro, for less than 100 dollars more we can get an RX 6800, brand new during Cyber Monday, with 4gb more of VRam and plenty of performance than the 3060. Obviously that's for those who don't care that much about DLSS, RT and those fancy terms.
RTX 3060 is still a very affordable budget and good performance card for 1080p/casual gaming use. I'd say its a good upgrade if you have a 1060 or older card.
I had 1050ti before upgraded to 3060, the upgrade is night and day. But after some time I decided to upgrade further from 3060 to 4070S as I want to get max graphic and consistent 60fps across all games at 1080p. I was fortunate enough to have 650W (bought together with 3060 and 12400f) as it seems like a borderline acceptable psu for 4070S.
Rtx 3060 is 30% slower than rtx 3060 ti, but only if you use powerfull cpu like ryzen 5 7600 or ryzen x3d cpu's. Most people use ryzen 5 5600/i5 12400f or even ryzen 5 3600/5500 which leave some performance unused on rtx 3060 ti at 1080p resolution, while those cpu's absolutely squeeze out all the performance out of regular 3060. At that point we are talking about 20% performance difference at best, also add 4gb of extra vram which helps you at 1080P in newer games like Silent Hill 2 remake and S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 - those games use well over 8gb in some areas in the game at high settings 1080p. Rtx 3060 ti is definetely better card, but it's not night and day difference on low end cpu's.
Still a recommended card from me for anyone getting into pc gaming, especially if they don’t know what they want to do/play, great entry point into the pc space and a great successor to the famed 1060 6gb

Wasn't the 12GB choice supposed to be for cheap mining cards after the pools went above 6 or 8GB of VRAM? Also Shadow of Chernobyl gets me everytime where 8GB GPUs can be way slower or unplayable compared to it
I think it was more to do with wanting to compete with AMD's 6700 XT. The 6700 XT would have been an even more obvious choice to consumers if the 12GB 3060 didn't exist. Keep in mind that they actually CANCELLED the higher vram capacity versions of what would have been the 3070 ti and the 3080 ti. They were planning on making a 16GB and 20GB version of each of those cards, but they were selling so well during the GPU shortage that apparently someone decided to cancel them. It may have also been related to concerns about the cost or availability of the memory chips as well. It's really too bad, because a 16GB version of the 3070 ti and a 20GB version of the 3080 ti would have both been amazing graphics cards.
I will never understand this decision by Nvidia. The 3060 should have had 8GB, 3070 10GB, and 3080 12GB. The extra vram what have added so much value to the faster cards. SMH.
If it werent for all the popular internet/gaming cafés in asia where 20 people log in through a 3060 based server at once and steam registers them having this GPU, the 3060 wouldnt be as popular. At least not on steams hardware survey. Still a decent card if the price is accurate. I personally went for the 6700XT back then.

This video needs to be shown to everyone defending 8 GB 4060s and 4060 Tis (and 5060s soon enough I'm sure). Especially those defending them on the grounds that you get less VRAM but you get the nViDiA FeAtUrEsEt. Making use of said featureset is the easiest way to go over 8 GB even at 1080p (except for DLSS). Frame generation especially completely falls apart and breaks your games if you run out of VRAM with it on.

Depends on what games you use. If you target older triple A games sure. Modern tripe A games it’s a 1080p medium graphics settings GPU with good framerates.
The 3060 can do MSFS 2020 at 1080p ultra 60fps or 4k ultra at 30fps It's a solid card for 1080p gaming and can manage 1440p at high or medium/High with a but of tinkering as well 👍

This is what I've been saying for a while. Most modern cards are fine in terms of their performance. Especially if you do some settings tweaking

I'm sure this card will be fine, it's not really that heavy. I believe the issue was more for the 3070 and above as they have much beefier coolers

Considering i saw 3060s ti used on ebay around 200 euro ( i got myself a used 3060ti for 200 ) i dont think 3060 is a better choice

For Bo6 theres an issue with the party chat. Set it to party only, and if you're on steam make sure to turn off steam overlay.

On the nvidia side, I think the 3060 is very close to PS5 3060 is better though.
There's also a version of 2060 with 12GB of VRAM. Kinda nice for Turing. More than 2080 Ti.
