The problem is that a fair number of Israeli's defenders are on an Orwellian crack pipe, where any absurd claim an Israeli official makes is treated as evidence in itself, if not fact.
Seeing specific claims interrogated, and seeing them weasel and move the goalposts and generally fail to defend their nonsense can help change *some* minds.

I guess it's the same reason why US state dept spokespeople state "we're looking into" the hundreds of blatant war crimes, without providing any information on investigations or their outcomes.
I think it's because countries like the US are also dead-set on pretending there's nuance that makes the IDF look good in this horrid conflict. If coverage of pro-Palestinian protests is any indication, this is one of the few topics on which the mainstream media is as crooked as conservatives claim it is as well, so maybe the IDF expects any American outlets and journalists they contact would throw them softballs.

I haven't seen data on what percentage of Israelis have dual citizenship but I've seen speculation that it can't be more than 15-20% which would make sense since most Israelis today were born there. Most likely their parents as well. Then there are the Jews that immigrated from the Arab world that likely don't still have their Iraqi/Syrian/etc citizenship. Of course that isn't to say that there are not some Israelis that immigrated recently (estimated that 100k settlers in the West Bank are American) but certainly not the majority. I've seen Israeli forums where Israelis with dual citizenship explain that even though they intend to stay in Israel forever, they never saw a need/benefit out of renouncing their second citizenship and that having it couldn't hurt because no matter how safe Israel is, it's still in a volatile region surrounded with countries that want it destroyed so a violent war could easily break out and these Israelis would have an easy escape plan in that situation
Ultimately, I still think the Palestinians are the main victims of this conflict and deserve their right to return. I'm just trying to think through things rationally because I hate when people just repeat shit they heard without fact-checking it first. And this type of mentality that assumes all Israelis are religious nuts that believe God gave them this "promised land" is also not helpful. Those people exist, of course, especially in the settlements. But I don't think your average Israeli that was born and raised in Tel Aviv and attends pride parades is reciting scripture; I think for them, they live there simply because they were born there. And I think they are largely ignorant of the Nakba and the current Palestinian plight. All they really know is "those guys don't like us and we don't like them."

Btw, when vaush questions how the US classified dead people into "killed terrorists/combatants", the rule used by the DoD was "males of fighting age". Meaning that ANY male between 18-60 that was killed got the label of "combatant", and, therefore, not a civilian, according to US government.

This interview makes me proud to be Norwegian. We’ve got a long way to go still, but our media is really critical of Israel and every major party (especially on the left) have been critical of Israel in some way.
