In my opinion it's not just the Diatron but all of the vortex line that were under appreciated. if anything i think that's the biggest shame.
agreed. i love them all. never had any jamming problems (unless my nephews use them wrong, blame the shooter not the blaster), they need to bring it back
I went to a party with a nerf war, and I found a Vortex thing (forgot name) and curved it, ricocheted it off a wall, and hit someone xD
yeah i do that all the time its awsome. Why did nerf stop Vortex? There awsome.
The disk ammo is great. You can get it dirty, worn, stepped on, and overall beat up, and it will continue to cycle as long as its right side up.
Its become my go-to series for anything that will let me use it.

You really do have genuine care for blasters no one ever used or shown any interests in. Especially from the vortex line. i missed that error of nerf sadly. what odd ball guns are still in production that you enjoy?

I'm one of those guys who tries to make every Nerf gun slightly useful. For example, I made my Sharpfire shoot like a shotgun by snooting two darts into its included barrel.
In fact, it is my goal to make every blaster that isn't front loading a shotgun.
I would honestly love to use just interesting nerf guns that still do stuff. I am intending my first loadout to be cyclone shot, this thing, and the stockade.
It's wide, not long. Thats the size people were talking about. However disks are wider than darts so herp de derp.

I love that you are such a huge vortex fanboy. I think they are awesome and want more of them. They're just so fun to shoot and the style and design is probably my favorite out of any Nerf line period.

I think Diatron would be better if the priming lever would go the other way like, pull it back and auto retract instead of pushing it and then slapping it back to fire. Or just make it slide action because with the slam fire and stock mount could make it a near-perfect slam-spamming machine.
In this video you sound like one of my favourite people (Jeremy Clarkson) talking about his favourite car (any alfa romao) and I could watch that all day
dude i know it shoots 2 discs at once, but i would rather use the pyragon cause if you shoot it fast enough then NO ONE can dodge the spray of discs coming at you. one time with the pyragon i took out a whole team. i mean... i dont own a diatron, but i really see no reason to buy it when i have the pyragon. still an awesome blaster though. idek why people hated it

i too think that this was a great blaster. the lock removal is not that hard if you know what you are doing. ive got an extensively modded one with a (Whip-blast? boom-co flip blaster? i cant remember the name but its the one that you have with the yellow and blue paint job)handle and made a really crazy secondary out of the whole thing. also, you mentioned the disc arc and how if you are not used to it then it might mess with your shots. you can fix that with a small piece of plastic that has a slight curve in the opposite direction to the arc. just sand down the piece of plastic and glue it to the inside of the barrel. i find that this drastically improves performance and is the only gripe i gave about the blaster. we nerfers of New Mexico have some pretty great solutions to problems that most others just forget about. and thank you walcom for bringing back the diatron in a great way.

The Vortex line was my favorite line growing up, and I was, and still am a fan of the Pyragon.
Picked one up today. If you find the arm sticking out and it doesn't let you pull it back, just push it out a little bit more to hit that priming lock. If you have trouble loading disks, press down on that disk pusher to lock it down.
This gives me hope. Just mod and add a stock and just floor the world man ! Vortex line was great

I got one from good will recently and I took out all the locks reloobed it is a good blaster it was like my 4th meager mod I've done 😊
Bit late to the party on this one, but couldn't help but comment given the passion for this blaster shown here.
Have one myself, and always liked it, but those locks are quite frustrating. Been trying to find a guide for removing them but, not much luck there, as I know I'd be using this a lot more if such a guide was out there for sure. Good video indeed and glad some folks are in it for fun more than simple "nerf meta play."
My favorite blaster was the paragon because with 3 drums and a raider stock I could dominate. Disks move slow and with slamfire you could create an inescapable wall of disks

I didnt even know vortex vests were a thing, you might have to go custom or get it online.
They aren't really vests... They are more like battle belts that can hold two magazines and some discs.
I believe you can find them on amazon
And *I* can say without hyperbole that this continues the long line of entertaining videos by Walcom!
(though I'd still prefer Vigilon over Fusefire, ha ha)

I've always loved the Diatron. Even the orange version is a great design, and this version is just gorgeous.Painted the orange into a Covenant Plasma Rifle. Upside vs the Fusefire: WAY easier to find one for an affordable price online. I got 2 for $30 including shipping on Ebay.
I'm actually rather fond of the Vortex disc since I got the Fusefire after watching your video on it. Perhaps the next Tag Back can be on the mag/clip fed Vortex blasters.

I love the diatron. I have one integrated with a longshot. A diatron with a stock will spam discs so fast.

and in good news, the vortex line came back and this was one of the premier blasters making a new rescan, I wonder if it has any better internals than the original
The one I have has a slightly different paint job and a smaller lever, but I love it.
I thrifted one today and was not prepared for how brutal removing the locks actually was...it took me 2-3 long, grueling hours and it didn't help that there's nowhere near enough information on the internals to know exactly what to do.
Vortex will be always missed :(
So I have an unmodded diatron (I'm a little scared to mod it without any write ups or tutorials) and it is the best. I was doing a duel with my friend and we were both behind cover. I bounced the disks off the wall and hit him. He was so confused and I was dying of laughter. BEST BLASTER
the diatron is one of my favorites. vortex is more fun, the elites are good for tacticool. i have the white retaliator stock on mine with the orange bar removed and it looks great with the retaliator stock. i removed locks but didn't do the spring mod i might do that mod now after seeing this..

Repaint Praxis costs 300$ I hve 2 normal Praxis. Bouth them when they just cost 20$

See, with the Hammershot, you can operate it with one hand while keeping your blaster pointed at your target the entire time. That's probably one reason people like it so much.
You can do that with any blaster with a sling point. :/

EpicPigmasks You do know that you can use a small rop with a carabiner and put it on a Strongarm to achieve the same results...
i love the diatron and so many people said just use a hammershot but this and the proton ive gotten so many people out with this thing
the reason more people like the Hammershot ove the Diatron is because the Hammershots are A) More Common B) Cheaper
I love the hammer shot because it has a ton of MOD potential but is easy to make good but the reason why this thing sucks is because if you didn't remove those locks as soon as you got it the thing broke in seconds and once it was broken it was impossible to take it apart

I have a diatron, it's one of my FAVOURITE sidearms. As a lefty, it's actually very easy to use. I can drop it, prime it on my leg and put back into firing position in a little of a second. Takes a bit of practice, but is a dream to use and neigh impossible to dodge.

all you need is a big sack full of disks and a full mod done to remove the locks and this thing is a force to be reckoned with.
You can still get Vortex guns, mass amounts of discs, etc. online, right? I imagine decently expensive, but possible?
I love shotguns because of my runandgun playstyle because I won't get many chances to hit my target and vice versa. I would probably love this thing to bits, although not literally.

I lucked out a few months back and my local Toys R Us was selling their old inventory. Bought 8 of them for 5 bucks each and a Rev 360 for 20.
Now to just find a Fusefire...
You sold me on the Diatron, so I bought one and it's pretty cool. Now all I need is a good guide to remove the locks. I haven't done a lot of searching and I'm new to modding, but I'd love to see if I can get some modding tips for this, thanks.
I just picked up one yesterday at a local war. It looks great with the Modulus storage stock.
I might add that the stock will hold 10 discs.
I usually pronounce it "Nerf Vortex DIEINAFIRE"
More often usually people like the one handed operation on the hammershot cause it shaves those few seconds of it would take a strong arm to prime it with the other hand that can be cruical in close quarters.

The point of one handed hammer priming is so that you can use it while doing something else.

On the Stryfe dart sensor... The latest run of XD Stryfes no longer include that lock (I recently purchased one and was pleasantly surprised to find that lock is no longer included)

I think another reason why everyone hates the Diatron is because it’s so so bulky it’s somewhat comparable to the cycloneshock’s bulk in my opinion. Edit: Oh yeah I also forgot to say is the it’s pretty hard to load discs in the diatron coop772 had serious issues loading it watch coop’s review to find out.
I imagine dual wielding these would be quite fun. I never played with a diatron, I never cared to try, until now. I think i might try to get one, and if i do, it's because of you.

I'm glad that one of these videos you had a very passionate view even if everyone else disagreed with you, I'm glad that it serves a good purpose for you and having one myself, I can adjust to it pretty well. I did want to acknowledge that there was also a stock point on the back of it, but I'm not sure if there is a good stock to use, do you have any recommendations? I would say it's difficult because most of the ones compatible with it do not offer vortex disks as ammo storage
I have removed the locks and I am getting a *ton* of disks now. I also have two tribal tattoo ones.

I've never gotten the opportunity to try out the diatron, or any vortex blaster. But I've seen through youtube how monstrously effective they can be, and like you said the diatron is just the best of the best. Going off of what you said about how you cant dodge the discs, its possible to dodge a stock dart blaster, or just maybe even a modded dart blaster, but with the slower velocity of the vortex discs, how do you dodge a slow moving projectile while you dont know where its gonna go? And times two with the diatron? Yeah, one of the best blasters ever.
