  • guitar is tuned to D standard but that shouldn't affect the way you approach how to do the exercise. 10/52 ELIXER NANOWEB strings 2010 GUS G ESP NT II hardtail
    E 3/5/7
    B3

Is it easier to play faster when your amp is pushing more power I’ve noticed when I play with no volume it sounds terrible but plugged in loud it sounds alright?

An amp is what gives the guitar it's sound, so yes, if you play an electric guitar with no sound it isn't going to have any resonance and it it's gonna feel like you're not really playing. When you get that sound and can feel the sound waves your brain and body start to connect to the music and then you can really start to feel like you're actually playing

It is easier to sound bad when you push the front of your amp the preamp section, the more power you push the louder but the louder the more mistakes can be heard., If you go back and look at some of the videos I did when I am in front of a tan chair my equipment is about 15/20 feet away from me directly behind me in the room with open door. The setting are at just over 1/2 way on my VHT 2/90/2 POWER AMP and my AXE FX III. How you set your guitar up also plays a roll in the sound also, I prefer to use EMG 81 with 2/ 9v batteries pouring pick up, you have to be careful not to clip the input signal or it will sound to distorted with a lot of extra noise.
my ESP GUS G uses Seymour Duncan Fire and the Fury pick ups they are passive pickups with a preamp built into the volume pot, they are very hot pick ups and also one of the very few guitars I would play using the neck pick up, as mostly I use the BRIDGE pick up for everything I have a video called Jackson USA the ripper look at that video and you'll see and hear me switch between the bridge and neck pickups toward the ens of video.

playing faster really doesn't have much to do with the amp, it has to do with practicing a lot.
