Enjoyable watch that. What an escape too! Such a shame to see Oldham where they are now. I hope you get back to where you belong very soon. Always enjoyed my trips to Boundary Park. As a Barnsley fan I will always be grateful to Oldham for selling us Neil Redfearn who was immense for us and a club legend. Also Andy Ritchie and Rick Holden did a great job when they managed us. Good luck in the future and fingers crossed you get back in the league sooner rather than later.
I met Joe Royle and the team a short time before things started going on the up for the latics. A family friend knew Joe. Met the team, got a signed football from Big Joe, sat in the good seats to watch the game, and then went in the bar area with the team after, I think it was Brighton, drew 1-1, Ian Marshall scored.
I was gutted for Oldham when they lost their plastic pitch. I know it was rubbish but they were never the same team after that. Did well to stay at the top for 3 years.
We didn't lose many games at home without the plastic in those first two top flight seasons. Beat Manchester United, Leeds, Liverpool, Aston Villa etc all on grass.

The ball bounces were erratic, the ball would run away from you

I’d rather the plastic pitch be allowed than plastic fans that some clubs have.
