Nothing worse than a lonely childhood.

Sorry, but yes, there are many worse things. However, a damaged childhood, for whatever reason, scars the adult without a doubt.

@@eshaibraheem4218 I agree. It wasn't until I went into therapy in my mid 40's did I realize how screwed up my home life was and how it impacted my life for years and contributed to my many bad decisions.

@scottielover5415 Yes, it can be a life long burden, but therapy can be eye-opening and a great help. Hope you are able to lead a much happier life now.

Amazing that some childhood photos even exist
Considering he had no one really seeming to care

Makes you wonder about his childhood truth...Could he have just used his childhood stories to paint himself as a victim of circumstance? Was his childhood so bad to excuse him from exposing people's lives he was good friends with? Ultimately destroying his friends life's including the death of one by suicide. We all have morals built into our heart whch helps us decide what is right and wrong by our actions. Many Saints had much worse childhoods but overcome so sorry not sorry for his victim status.

Gore Vidal, who knew Capote well, said that he was a liar (speaking on the Dick Cavett show, I seem to remember), so who knows?

It pains me when I hear someone talk bad about Truman. I understand the repercussions of growing up with parents that don’t want you. It honestly makes your adult relationships strained. RIP Truman, I hope you finally found the happiness you deserve🙏💙

We all have issues and many come away and do good things...He did achieve great writing but instead used gossip to destroy people's lives including one death...Instead of seeking repentance he continued as if he did no wrong...A true demonic narcissist...

None of these characters seems particularly likeable, but they all chose the lives they lived. Only the writer, Capote, is unforgivably poisonous and a wrecker of lives.

Many people who had worse childhoods than he did managed not to become horrible human beings.

His view of women was certainly very low. I do not think he was always horrible, though Harper Lee says differently, so maybe he was. However his betrayal of Babe especially was unforgivable, as she viewed him as her only real friend.

You give him too much credit. If people blame his upbringing then he should have had more compassion to the women that trusted in him. He was a despicable person, an opportunist. No sympathy from me. @@MythicMindScape21

It is my opinion that early childhood trauma is the reason for a lot of people becoming homosexual.
