Hey Brian! Happy New Year! Glad to see you back on here. Really great response. Totally agree with you with The Pretenders. SUGAR! So glad to see some love for Sugar. Especially File Under Easy Listening.
Hi Brian! You’re back! Great response here and I was glad to see Sugar, Cocteaus and Killing Joke here…all huge favorites of mine! Hope your holiday season has been fantastic- roll on 2025, eh? Cheers-R 😎👍
Hello, Brian! Good stuff, and that 2nd Lloyd Cole/Commotions I'll be getting next year. Surprisingly, the only Kraftwerk I have is Trans Europe Express, but certainly familiar with Autobahn. Hope you had a Merry Christmas 🎄 with the family, and Happy New Year as well! 🎉🎶🥂😎. Looking forward to seeing where the VC takes me in 2025...and others!
Hi Brian. Good to see one of your videos again. Hope you enjoyed the holidays. I love that Lloyd Cole and the Commotions album. Which was my first. Yes, Rattlesnakes was my 3rd come to think of it. Had never heard Cocteau Twins to my knowledge but did so now and enjoyed it. Well, I'm going back up to Oslo tomorrow so trying to relax and listen to something soothing. Long day tomorrow but at least I don't have to get up at 5 in the morning. Take care.
“It’s been like 10 or 11 days”…”Thank you for sitting down and listening to me”…”I wasn’t going to use artists that I think I talk about maybe too often “…I actually really like Kraftwerk, but only have a CD copy collection of their stuff. That Pretenders record is phenomenal just as you said. Precious! “I raced to whatever record store I could find”…I like those Brian Eno songs you mentioned. My entry point to Cocteau Twins was Treasure in my high school years via Brave New Waves in CBC. I love it. I think I shared with you before that I saw Sugar on the Copper Blue tour in Vancouver, and how loud it was. Killing Joke debut! I have it. Bloodsport is killer! ✌️
I’m glad to see that Northern Pikes album. I think I agree that side one is excellent because most of the songs I can remember (haven’t played it in years) are from side one. Happy New Year, Brian!
Excellent video Brian. Great, challenging topic. Of the ones you've chosen, Excitable Boy is a stand-out for me. That first side is amazing. The B Side is pretty damn solid too. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Hi Brian, thanks for doing a response. I agree with you 100% on Easy Pieces. It's an album that has really grown on me over the years. I think the track "Rich" is my all time favourite Lloyd Cole song.
Hi Brian, Heaven or Las Vegas was a big High School album for me. I bought it on cassette and then went and bought the t-shirt too. Iceblink Luck and the title track are amazing songs. Excitable Boy is a fantastic album… especially Side A. Just picked up that Killing Joke album, bit heavier than my usual taste, but enjoyed listening to it. Great thread, Jack
Hope you had a good Christmas Brian. All the best for 2025 ... A flawless record side is an interesting idea, as so many records run out of steam on side 2. Some nice choices here, especially Sugar.
Hey Brian. Great video! Love that Eno album! Zevon and Killing Joke, are great choices! Hope ur Christmas was fantastic and Happy New Year to you and yours! Cheers
Happy Holidays and New Year, Brian! Always love to see Cocteau Twins and Killing Joke represented, couldn't agree with you more on your comments. Cheers!
Hell yes to Pretenders, Kraftwerk, and Killing Joke. 9:10 - I would have said "Snow In June", side 1. But "only Canadian group"? No mention of Rush's "Moving Pictures" side 1? Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ, Limelight. How does it get any better than that? And Sloan's "Twice Removed" side 1 is spectacular.
Snow in June is an excellent choice, and I wish I had it on vinyl 😶 I had Moving Pictures in my hand before I made the video, but others had already mentioned it, so I put it back. Sloan is also a killer choice. I should have thought of that one!
It would be difficult to say which side of The Pretenders debut album is the perfect side for me because I think the whole album is perfect. "Learning to Crawl" came close to being another perfect one from them, but I would say side 1 of that one is a perfect side and side 2 is a little less perfect, but still great. I need to still listen to the Faust record, but I think your other picks make for a flawless response to the thread. I would also have side 1 of The Church's "Gold Afternoon Fix" is also a perfect side if I could only find myself a great copy of that one. I have really got to get a copy of that in 2025.
I agree; both sides of that Pretenders record are really perfect. I have had a really difficult time finding copies of any record by the Church. I only have two LPs from them. Your comment was flawless 🙂
Love Warren Zevon and The Pretenders. I need to get both in my collection..
Hey Brian! Happy New Year! Glad to see you back on here. Really great response. Totally agree with you with The Pretenders. SUGAR! So glad to see some love for Sugar. Especially File Under Easy Listening.

Great responses, Brian. Especially happy to see Here Come the Warm Jets and Excitable Boy in the mix! Glad to have you back!

Nice list, Brian. Faust was a lovely surprise. F4 was my intro to the band. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hey Brian! Merry Christmas! Shocker - I have none of these. An hour of "Autobahn?"

“It’s been ten or eleven days since my last…” I was very much expecting the next word to be ‘confession’.
Radiohead- The Bends B side, the one with Blackstar on it - flawless

Easy Pieces 👍 I agree: Rich is a great track!

Killing Joke pushes the envelope a bit for me, but I really like the band! 🙂

Hi Carl, Some albums do indeed run out of steam. Happy New Year 🙂
Great video Brian, it would be a hard task for me to find perfect sides, even on my favorite albums.
I think you can do it! 🙂 🤣

Thanks, Bobby. Happy New Year to you, too!

@@EmbryonicRobot Also either/both sides of Dire Straits' "Communique" (1979). There's not a weak moment on it.
