Lion Brand Ferris Wheel yarn with the Rivulet shawl is amazing for a prayer shawl. A really nice hug😊. I have got to make a Felix, looks so nice! I would be interested in the sock pattern. Love making socks. Have a wonderful and blessed Easter!

Your shrunken sweater wld make an amazing pair of oven mitts. Historically folks used them as they didn’t have access to modern fire retardant fabrics. They are amazing at preventing heat transfer and also fire retardant. Use them all the time.

I would slap that felted sweater on an oversized teddy bear and give it as a gift, LOL!! Also, I would love to win the sock pattern, looks like a lovely stitch pattern!

Thanks for the laugh showing the shrunken sweater😂. I knit a friend a wool cowl. After her husband washed and dried it she gave it back asking what I could do to make it bigger. Needless to say it would have fit Barbie🤣. I knit socks but would love to try a Dk. Thanks from Michigan for a great podcast.

I don't know if you are familiar Noble Character Crafts, Amy (who homeschools her five children!) has the most ideas of using scraps on her podcast I have ever seen. I ordered the tweedy yarn and seeing your Felix, I am looking forward to trying it. We still have a LOT of snow here in northern MN. I really don't care for the mitered square blanket a lot of people use for scraps, but Kay Jones of the Bakery Bears has a nice version that looks a bit like a quilt. I find I generally don't care for knitted blankets, but rather crochet is my favorite go to with blankets. So much more design. Thank you for an interesting podcast.

Good podcast Amber. I am interested in the sock pattern. I was thinking that you should blanket stitch the potholder squares together with the color that you do the embroidery in the center. That would be so pretty. Love that you love our Savior as well!!

Haha Amber! That is so funny with the felted sweater! 😂. Yes, I have been there too and also deliberately felted it further. I wanted to use the sleeves to make fingerless mitts, but never quite 😊 around to it. But that was the plan anyway!

Two of my favs have merged!! Three by the Sea and Amber ♥️ I'd love to knit the new sock pattern! ❤ I don't use commercial sock yarn too much, but I think it would be fun to make socks out of random skeins alternating the color every other row. Maybe that would be ugly? But a fun experiment!

That sweater that you made for your sister would make a cute pillow with some embroidery, but pot holders are also very good idea, or maybe an extra layer inside your forest mat you plan to make. Whatever you decide I know it will be beautiful, God has blessed you with such creativity and appreciation for what is beautiful

Thank you for an other informative, nice and calm episode. I want to advise you about socks made from scraps following Charisa Martin Cairn Lifestyle Toe Up Socks - No Swatch Needed (sorry didn't succeed to make a link) and you can start with cuff. Use a solid contrasting yarn and your fingering scraps and make two at once (magic loop) and continue with an other scrap yarn if needed, it dosen't matter they will be warn and unique :) Greetings from Finland.

I didn’t look through all the comments but if it hasn’t already been mentioned, you could use the felted sweater to make mittens. Or cut out some soles for the bottom of slippers and then crochet or knit the “body” of the slippers by poking small holes with a a steel crochet hook into them. So many possibilities and excited to see what it becomes!

    I love the sweater!!
And the mismatched socks, that makes them more fun!
I know I'm in the minority, but I have no desire to make socks, they're beautiful, just don't want to make them.......🤷🏻‍♀️ Funny thing is, I DO have several patterns.
I think its because I'm more a process vs project knitter, in fact, I give away most of what I make.
I'm kinda with you on the cotton yarn, its nice, it's soft, I just don't like how it looks/feels.
The felted sweater is hysterical!! But I know your sister was probably devastated!!

  • @aineriordan2518

Yes, I would like to be considered for the sock pattern, please.
I crocheted the Hxgn pattern from the Spring/Summer 2022 issue of Knitty using a cotton yarn. It's lovely and drapey, but, as you said about your shawl, not a "hug".
I've used felted sweaters to make hot water bottle covers, but I think yours is so thick that it probably would barely let any heat through it!

Your Felix sweater is gorgeous as is your husband’s socks. For any leftover sock yarn, I turn it into scrappy socks. If it’s enought for shortie socks, I just add a contrast heel & toe or just plain ole scrappy socks all the way. I love some of my scrappy socks better than the original use of the yarn. Ooooh, that cast on pair of socks, Serene, is gorgeous.

If you want to do the tubular bind off, but don't want to have the super long thread necessary, you can do it with multiple shorter lengths and just weave in the ends. There is just something so good about the fit of the Felix. It looks great on pretty much all body types. At least I've never seen it not look great.

Hi Amber, Thanks for the episode. I enjoy them while I do some knitting me time. I wondered if your felted sweater could work as a forest mat. Seems like a similar process. I look forward to hear what you make!

Yes, please consider me for the sock pattern. If the cuffs of the felted sweater are the right size, they could be used for a cup cozie. I made a felted sweater into a shopping bag by cutting the neck & arms off and sewing the bottom closed.

That is a great idea! I bet that would work!

I just did a swatch with Make it Tweed held with a light gray Nutiden, and I am going to do a White Mountains Light on 4.5mm. It's such a fun yarn to play with!

Thanks for another great episode. You could maybe cut up the sleeves of the felted sweater to use for cup or can cozies. I'm interested in the sock pattern prize.

I love your Felix sweater; adding the "Make it Tweed" was a wonderful idea! I'd love to be entered into the Serene Sock pattern giveaway. I just began making socks last year and love trying new patterns.
