I don't think there's anything wrong with being a "stuff person", as long as you maintain your awareness of it. You seem to enjoy things in a tactile and aesthetic way, you like art and creative materials. You aren't hoarding everything you've ever picked up and you've literally made a living out of being organized. Don't feel disheartened about not being a minimalist you're doing a really good job.
I love my books. Couldnt imagine a life without books in it. But.......Ive culled at least 400 books over the last 2yrs. And I still dont regret it. It simply made room for new books🤣 I reread my books also. Im easily entertained😁
I have a room full of books. I decluttered about 500 books a few years ago and I still have that many. Book shop clerk perks. No such thing as too many books as long as you love them!
I grew up surrounded by bookcases full of books, now I only like to have books I am likely to read, or are signed/have sentimental value. It's so interesting the differing value we put on books, I'd much rather someone else was able to read it rather than it collecting dust on my shelves and making me sneeze! :) Edit: Saying this if I had a bigger home I would definitely have a bookcase of my favorites, but I'd want them to be beautiful collectors editions :D
It pains me when I hear her nervously dragging herself in more than half of her videos when she’s in the shot..... Girl stop you are the bomb and that’s that! The color is YAS and your vibe is YAS. Period.
Who else loves watching people organize?! Why are these videos so fun to watch? 😂❤️ ps: I have a channel too if anyone has a min to give me some feedback 💕
I think people really need to be aware of their possessions and aware of what they're buying, but sometimes minimalism is too extreme. Like, what's the problem if I have a hundred books or whatever? If there isn't space for new objects, then yes, some must go, but if they can be organized so you can get a look and use them...? With this trend of minimalism, decluttering and Marie Kondo, *I feel like people just found a new thing to stress about*. And some of them that are going to extreme might regret it 30 years from now because they threw a lot of memory-related things away and brain-memory doesn't last forever, that's why we need physical-memory. No need to keep every bus ticket, but there's a midway somewhere. I'm not saying this is your case and hopefully you'll feel better after you finish it, but don't stress too much about it. I'm not talking against you, I'm just... reflecting on the topic, I guess? k, love u, bye
@@GlowstickRaves Yes, I know that that's her method. It's what you said: people don't understand it well and think you have to throw everything away to be happy. But Marie Kondo is a cool lady.
Youre new hair is so beautiful. It really makes your eyes stand out! Good job for keep going even when you were feeling deflated! Remember youre supposed to feel happy about what you get rid of; not sad to force things out. If youll use something or it means something to you then keep it. Anything you get rid of is better than nothing so dont pressure yourself too much!
H: *points at pile of books* that’s too much! Me: *guilty looks around room literally overflowing with books* yeah, haha, that’s wayyyyyy too many books wow
There is a great episode on Hoarders whereas there was an old couple who did in fact have too many books, so much that the poor husband had to sleep in his car due lack of space
🌟 RUclipsrs buy a lot of crap and do RUclips hauls ---> RUclipsrs realise they don't need all that ---> RUclipsrs start to discover minimalism and do cleanups and Marie Kondo videos ---> start again 🌟
I feel like decluttering a lot of stuff would really help in my house, since it's really small, but my mom is the one making all the desitions and she always needs everything, it's so frustrating. I always tell her that she should get rid of some things and she says "no, that can be used for this thing" and I know she haven't used it in years and she never will, but it's pointless arguing. On the other side, I think that feeling pressured to be a minimalist is a mistake, too. You should live with what truly makes you happy, no more or less. If 15 things make you happy then go ahead, if you need more, then good, too, as long as that really makes you happy. PS. Yes, that BTS book is the most important read 💜
I really feel you with the mom thing! Always when I try to declutter she has to be around because otherwise I would be throwing out too much stuff that she would like to keep even though we don't use it. It's so frustrating. Our house is a mess and I can't fix it because I'm not allowed to.
I have learned as i slowly start decluttering recently to become minimalist at some point. alot books is fine as u try sort all and know what u wanna keep most. dont loose patience, just do declutter any over time and then it gets easier since u not gotta do all in one day. just do what u can when u see they want or feel the need to get rid of stuff at anytime. it all just helps to have less to move or clean anytime. so have fun and be happy what u do get done anytime.
First time here in your comments section because girl, that hair color, THAT HAIR COLOR is just perfect for you. Matches your skintone and your eyes so well. Love it, love it, love it! btw, your tips are always helpful
You look great as a ginger Hermione! Well done you at getting through books and papers. I've just started on books and considering I purged them already a few years back and kept only ones I truly loved (and would reread), I am dreading the second time around... because I still have hundreds of them. Several hundreds 😳
“This feels like a personal attack” made me laugh out loud, pause the video and write this. I just found your channel. You are a delight and I like the auburn
That is nothing, i would not call that a big pile at all, I have moved 23 times in 23 years and have more than that by far. Stationery is one of the things i love the most. I am neither a horder or minimilist, i just keep what I love. Don't be so hard on yourself, who says how many notebooks you should have, or books. Just do what is right for you.
I love that you are being real about being a mess! Life is messy and that's ok! I'm so happy to see you accepting that and not making everything picture perfect just for RUclips.
I found you a couple of videos ago. You are a very classy and entertaining young lady, and the fact that you're pushing yourself to organize your life and make your home a home is inspiring! I too am having a quarter-life crisis, but watching you do what I need to do with my own world is helping me step up and have fun with organizing everything. I found I've been holding on to a lot of things that I'll never wear, that I keep for occasions that may never happen, or just because I think it's 'pretty'. You're delightful and have a home you're filling with light and happiness and I absolutely admire that! Thank you for your videos, your time, and keep at it! You can do it!
Very encouraging....... nice to see someone with a very realistic amount of clutter and i enjoy your honesty about being overwhelmed and not wanting to sort it but doing it anyway. Starting is the hardest bit..... it’s all looking great 👍🏻 Yes I agree some people like owning and using a lot of things. Everyone just needs to find their level of how much is comfortable 💕💕
I've been decluttering a lot and I find that I do much better with less stuff. I can't keep anything tidy otherwise, even though I love tidiness. But it's all about the amount of stuff that feels right for you, even though I got rid of a lot that I don't plan on replacing, I could hardly be called a minimalist. As long as it feels right, it's right for you. Love your videos as always - and girl, you always look amazing.
When you said you had a lot of books, I looked at my bookshelves and went ...oh no. I also bought a bunch of new stationery today 😅 great video, I love decluttering.
With Magazines, if they have articles in them, I tear those pages out, put them in a little flat binder folder. That way I don’t have to keep the whole magazine.
Thank you for sharing this! I have many drawers and a bookshelf full of notebooks and journals. You’re inspiring me to begin to really take a look and organize what I have!
Flow is such an amazing magazine! I don’t throw them away, I frequently re-read them (take them on holiday or so), exchange them with family and friends or use them for my visionboards!
Progress is progress! You're doing amazing! Going minimalist isn't immediate. That's too definite and too hard on yourself. Look into Marie Kondo's book!
I think your hair looks great! I definitely had my quarter life crisis last year and over the holidays did a huge declutter and reorganise of some sections in my life and your videos are helping me get motivated to have the rest done to have a clean and organised 2019. Clear house equals clear mind and all that!
I LOVE to watch you declutter, Hermione, my dear. It makes it so much easier for me to get started. I have a notebook that I use to write to projects in and then tear the page out when I get it finished. Right now it only have 4 pages in it. It started out with 25. A little at a time.
You are not just relatable, but inspirational! Now I can't wait to take on one of my rooms! Thank you Hermoine! Your home is turning out so beautiful! More power to you!
Auburn looks very ethereal on you, like a mermaid. You've inspired me to declutter my own dreaded stationary and papers mess. You're killin' it, Hermione! Keep up the good work with your content. Your editing is fantastic as well.
Loving the new hair colour. My stationery & craft collection is huuuuuge! I have a craft shed which needs a good sort out this spring. Will have to be ruthless 😬 I am currently taking a leaf out of your book and organising and decluttering my life & home. I did my 11 year old daughter’s room last weekend and she was brilliant at getting rid of stuff. I was very impressed. Looking forward to more of your great videos xx
Love your hair! Excellent job of sorting and decluttering books, papers and notebooks! Perhaps consider adding two or three sturdy shelves on the wall above your DIY table in your office/guest bedroom! And a few of the pretty pink books could sit under the pretty artwork on the night table next to the guest bed! Books are so handy for adding height to artworks and lamps on tables and desks! Can't wait for the next video!
I came across this video and, when I heard you say you had too many books, my brain stopped for a moment. I don't think a person can have too many books. Books are knowledge, and knowledge is gold.
I LOVE watching these! I cleaned my bedroom using your techniques in the first video, and I will definitely incorporate some of these ideas whilst organizing my bedroom now! Please keep videos like these coming, Hermione!
Car boot season has started so that’s a good place to get rid of the decent stuff. Also i tend shove stuff in the loft if I’m not going to need it for and don’t want to rebuy stuff down the line. Thank you!
I super disagree with you about books. You just need to dedicate space to them. I get the rest of it but I always wonder about people I visit the homes of who have few books.
Nausi Windstrider completely disagree. I’m of the believer that if I read a book and didn’t like it I give it to charity. I liked a book I will keep it BUT I will lend it to someone first- keep on giving! My book shelf has under 30 books on it at the moment but I’ve read hundreds. I have also now converted to e books :-)
@@SadieeeSweeet I refuse to go to ebooks as I will not pay a buying price to rent. If you look into the technicalities of ebooks you'll understand what I mean. I haven't owned under 30 books since I was a teenager. If I don't like a book I do pass it along. There's no use in keeping something I do not like. However, I tend to keep buy a copy of everything I ready, and loan them out to friends, or read them again. My dream would be to have a small personal library. I know that not everyone wants to dedicate a room to books in their home. However, if one owns a two story home as this presenter does I cannot imagine not having space for a bookcase in which to keep at least 30 to 50 books. More space can be made over time by going through them, and lending. (Some will not make it home once you lend them out, that's to be expected)
We all place value in different things - it's part of what makes each and everyone of us unique. I too love books and own many, but I have friends who are better read than me who only keep a single bookshelf at home. Plus ebooks and the library are marvellous things!
I do understand where your coming from. I think maybe the difference is I studied literature at uni and at one point had over 300 books. I now have about 30 I love!
Well my books are there to make me happy and not to impress my guests. That's why I only have very few but amazing ones. I wouldn't want to invite people who judge others because of their belongings anyways.
Love the auburn hair....it suits you! We are a book household, the more the merrier - well usually. Have decluttered a lot of craft books, still have heaps though
Hair looks great but i think your blonde hair is so stunning and everything and you look so gorgeous wih it. But no harm experimenting. As a natural redhead i always thought blondes had more fun. Id go. Blonde but ig doesn't suit my skin tone, 😭
Hermione, these videos are literally giving me life. My boyfriend and I have just bought a house together; we've only lived in it for 2 months and I still feel like it's a construction site full of boxes. So glad I'm not alone 😂 all your videos make me feel like hope is at the end of the tunnel!
Your de cluttering is inspiring me I have 5 days off work next week and am using them to de clutter and try to sort my house out. I moved in last June and still have boxes that I haven’t opened so I obviously don’t need what’s in them but I will go through them and be tough lol thank you
Hermione you are literally my favorite youtuber. I hope you get through whatever it is you are going through because I love you so much and you deserve eternal happiness
You did so great! You’re totally inspiring me! I’ve really been struggling with getting organized and I’m trying hard to get it done...it can be very overwhelming.
We're so obsessed with minimalism these days but the truth is some people's lives don't really facilitate that. So yay for parting with things you don't want or need and keeping the rest!
Hermione, I love that you're relaxing a little and bringing just a touch of comedy to what you say and how you edit. It's coming across super relatable and gives you a more chill and confident vibe, which is a delight to watch! I hope this doesn't come across as condescending cause that's definitely not my intention, I just wanted to say I noticed and I think you're doing an awesome job
You mentioned feeling deflated that you were keeping so many new notebooks, things you would have to buy again in future if you decluttered purely because you're not using them immediately, and that made you feel like you weren't being "minimal enough", but think of it this way- you are blessed with the space to store these things you will be using later on, so you won't have to buy them as often!
I love your hair that color on you. When you said you had alot of books, I thought to myself I have 2 crate full of books I haven't read yet. Great decluttering video as always. Thanks for sharing with us!
I think next week is a good week for a room declutter for me! Im going to start with closets and drawers and then do my desk with notebooks and things just like you are next week is a good week! But you think you have a lot of books I have definitely over 100 I have 2 full shelves almost three, but I'm a bookstagrammer so I keep all of my books I could definitely go through and get rid of some, but it's hard getting rid of books for me lol.
Hermione all of this was totally worth it and it is by far the best video... I've been watching it like crazzzyyyy😨😨😨 Keep on going and stay who you are😘😘😘👍👍
Your new color is beautiful!! Ok, we have the same hoarding issues. PAPER!! I have been taking my books and textbooks to our public library to sell for programs they host. First time I carried 5 big bags (like you used to carry stuff home in) to donate. I'm going to do it again this year!! I have 6 bookcases in a very small 640 square foot apartment!! I even have had a bookcase in the bathroom!! Yea, not a great idea, one would never need to leave.
Hey just letting you know that I love these videos! You seem very real and honest (and relatable haha) which makes them amazing to watch Not trying to call out how you usually make videos bc ive been subscribed for a while, but you definitely seem more real here ♥️ Also i should really go organize now haha
Marie Kondo's method isn't about being minimalist. It's about utilizing your space/stuff to the best of its ability and appreciating what you DO have. It's a shame so many people don't seem to understand that. Keep what you use and what makes you happy. But, congrats on your declutter!
Omg. I used to watch you 2 years ago. Today I found this videos and you've clearly evolved so much. And you've gotten so much prettier. Definitely going to subscribe again. 😊
Sometimes when your declutter if you have a lot of stuff it can be overwhelming but if you take baby steps like you are you'll get through it Keep up the good work
You’re adorable! Thank you for keeping your videos real - it’s refreshing. As a fellow stationery enthusiast I am envious of your gorgeous collection! Don’t beat yourself up about getting rid of stuff. I know there is a trend for minimalism/decluttering/KonMari at the moment, however, if it’s stuff that makes you happy, and you can house it, and, as you said, consumables, then I see no harm in holding onto it. Oh, and that isn’t a lot of books! ;) PS - your hair looks amazing!

My dream room is floor to ceiling bookshelves, filled with books, covering every inch of the four walls with comfy place to read in the middle.

YOUR HAIR LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL 🙌🏼😍✨
I am LIVING for your hair! It’s suits you so ridiculously well and actually really enhances your natural beauty ✌🏻
Your videos are making me motivated to get organized! Just remember to keep it going one step at a time
Hermione, these videos are literally giving me life. My boyfriend and I have just bought a house together; we've only lived in it for 2 months and I still feel like it's a construction site full of boxes. So glad I'm not alone 😂 all your videos make me feel like hope is at the end of the tunnel!
Your hair is so pretty!
...and the series' so motivating!
I’m really enjoying the decluttering journey, and I’m on it too! I really want to grab a copy of Flow now, it looks a good read xxx
Love your hair! And you ❤️
Love the realness of your past few videos! And you’re doing amazing so far with the decluttering 😱
Your are amazing love the hair
I like your new hair color. It looks really good on you. You are super pretty. You have inspired me to declutter my own home.
"2019 I'm comin' for ya!" text: ** am I really tho ** :')
Thanks for sharing with us!
this color of hair suits you so well. You look more put together and mature. i really dig it!
Very interesting! De-cluttering and organizing can really help you start the year off right. Also, your hair looks very nice.
It’s hard work but it feels so good when your done. You can do it!
I'm also a notebook collector. It's a secret obsession ...
You have so many nice things. I like the colors and the patterns ...
Omg please continue this series...this is Soo amazing and realistic and very helpful
Hermione all of this was totally worth it and it is by far the best video... I've been watching it like crazzzyyyy😨😨😨
Keep on going and stay who you are😘😘😘👍👍
Your new color is beautiful!! Yea, not a great idea, one would never need to leave.
was the blonde your natural hair color or was it dyed before?
I loved the floral pencil case in the drawer!
😂 Hermione, I love the side of you coming out in this video!! It feels the most relatable of all the ones I’ve watched
Hey just letting you know that I love these videos! You seem very real and honest (and relatable haha) which makes them amazing to watch
Not trying to call out how you usually make videos bc ive been subscribed for a while, but you definitely seem more real here ♥️
Also i should really go organize now haha
The finding of the "More Is More" book without addressing the irony is something that's eating at my soul
YOUR HAIR😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love your hair!!! 😍✨. Everytime I need to decluter you upload a decluter video 😂 I love it it always motivates me 😌
Sometimes when your declutter if you have a lot of stuff it can be overwhelming but if you take baby steps like you are you'll get through it Keep up the good work
That's like one 30th of the amount of books I have and like I'm not even done buying (and reading of) more :) Love watching these videos!
Oh, and that isn’t a lot of books! ;)
PS - your hair looks amazing!
There are never too many books !! Especially fiction books ♡ love your videos
That pile looks HEAVENLY and I want to look through everything. I know for a fact that the magazine and book paper smells so good😭
You’re one of my favorite YT channels ever, love you girl!
Please do a giveaway or a sale with the stuff !! I'd gladly take it 🤗
I'm only 4 minutes into this and laughing so much at your attitude. So relatable. Loving this series.
