Why didn't they use the first Titan form to help build the wall the first wall?
Btw, Reiner’s looks in episode 17 are from having his head blown off by the thunder spears and having to regenerate it. Bertolt’s is from being inside his Titan. I assume you thought Reiner’s appearance was also a cause of being in his Titan because of how Bertolt looked.

Reiner looks like that because the top of his head was blow off. Bert looks like that since the colossal titan takes up a massive amount of energy compared to the other shifters. No hate, I love you ❤️
How did he not get that omg
Fun fact the front two titans at the 23:07 mark were modeled after the VAs of Eren and Mikasa
the episode where armin "dies" literally topped the charts as one of the highest rated episodes of all time in any tv show on IMDB. for good reason too!!
(The Levi vs Beast Titan battle was so cool! And Armin's "death" killed me, because he's absolutely my favourite character and he develops so much throughout the story.)
It's actually number one with an unbelieveable 10/10 perfect score
It really deserves it. The most recent episode That Day was just as emotional and epic but for totally different reasons. AoT has made me get over my GoT trauma 🤣
@@extraplain2412 Why did they have to make one of the best TV shows so pointless by making this bad and rushed of an ending? Sure, they followed Chekhov's gun by having Jon Snow be the heir to the iron throne ( Daenerys sees a vision where the iron throne room is covered by snow) but I truly believed the white walkers should've won. Humans just refused to work together and fought each other. These terrible mistakes should've cost them their lives. Check out film theory's video on this if you want to see a full detailed explanation. I hope aot doesn't go down this path. So far, the manga is pretty solid and the final arc is ongoing (and it doesn't suck dick)
@@familyguysofunny1933 GoT went downhill after season 4 but I let it slide as I figured it would pay off in the end. You're right the white walkers were a complete a joke. Now if I ever rewatch the show I'll be like "yeah don't worry about the dead they aren't a big deal". The story had established that action/inaction would have concenquences but then they just gave up caring since they wanted to move onto Star Wars. I'm hoping when the Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring come out they do the story justice.
I'll grant it is easier to adapt a Manga series then such a sprawling epic like A Song of Ice and Fire but that doesn't justify lazy writing. If AoT goes the same route i think I'll be done with media escapism and just learn a sport or something 🙄
Fuck, review bombers brought it down to second place
I agree with you, that Reiner suffers from some sort of PTSD. Now, I am by no means a medical professional, but I had to do some research on PTSD sufferers for school, and it is not uncommon for people to force themselves to forget their trauma and unintentionally develop some alternate personality that comes out when moments similar to their original trauma happen to them. It is a brilliant way to humanize a villain and it is done so well in this anime. Major props to them.
Wait until you see Reiner after the time skip. Not spoiling anything, but after the basement reveal, 4 years go by. We see how fucked up Reiner really is.
LisV :3 The exact amount of time passed is a pretty big spoiler imo, you might want to edit that out if you don't want to spoil it.
Reiner isn't a villain, there's no good guys vs bad guys on AOT, it's just ideologies in conflict. EVERYONE has a compelling reason for their actions.

23:34, Great attention to detail, i just realized that Levi uses only 1 of his ODM gear launchers to save up on his gas. That's incredible detail and also easier to animate XD
No, I suspect he uses them in succession to bait an attack, just as Mikasa did. You see mindless titans are dumb, but their reflexes are still good, so if he can juke an attack in a direction he pulled with a first probe, only to be pulled into other direction by second probe. It seems clever, but it would rip his organs of. They often travel even 30-50m a second and drastically changing direction at such high speed could push you into 20-30 G force.
@@janchovanec8624 but Levi is an Ackerman. They don't care about breaking bones lol

Even though Armin lives, I still cried after I watched the episode of him being burned, turned into a titan and then eating Bertholdt(i dunno if I spelled that right)
Reiner's face/head looked like that because it was still regenerating from when he got thunder speared
10:25 They've shown this before, but this was the most detailed version of it.
Dude every time I rewatch Erwin's last moments I cry
We all do
You're the best youtuber! Keep making good content!!!
Red swan opening was the best fight me! It goes well with series overall as it's an emotional rollercoaster and not just hype fight for army thing.
Watching this makes me hyped to rewatch the season after it's complete. This arc is just amazing with the character development, ost, and emotions!
14:52 heavenly controller said it is like a game of chess
The track you wanted around 18:30 is called SymphonicSuite[AOT]Part2-4th: 2An and is the 13th song in the album. Thank you for listening to our lord and savior, Hiroyuki Sawano.
This entire season was absolutely incredible, but Levi fighting the beast titan is easily one of my favorite scenes, it's hilarious seeing the flashback of him doubting that a single human could pose a threat to him in his titan form, followed by his titan being helplessly hacked to pieces in seconds by Levi. After watching him kick ass for two and a half seasons, it's funny to see a character that's never met him react to his skills
13:04 The "outside culture drinking luxury goods" and their comparison of it to 'black tea' is yet another example of insanely clever diegetic worldbuilding on Isayama's part. The city our protagonists are from is in a temperate climate (we've seen it snow many times) and is cut off from the rest of the world. Hence, they have never encountered coffee, which grows in tropical regions, and don't even have a word for 'coffee'.
Yet, we see Reiner and Zeke using a coffee grinder, and drinking coffee, which suggests that they come from a part of the world that at least has contact with areas of the world where coffee can be grown. And we have seen the exact same coffee grinder since flashbacks of young Reiner and Bertholdt's journey! Not to mention the can of "herring" that Ymir found in Season 2. No one in their city has ever seen the sea, yet herring is a saltwater fish, and its existence way back in Season 2 was expert foreshadowing, especially given the irony of using a herring to provide a real clue (as opposed to a red herring). How cool is that?
7:29 scenes like this make me go crazy. for me, if a titan was running at me to fight me head on, i’d be absolutly horrified. but for eren, them fighting in their titans is the same as if they fought as humans, and regardless, titans and fighting them is just so normal to them. i love how casual it all is. it’s such a little thing, but it’s big to me
Hands up if you think Attack on titan the best anime
24:16 I think that Riner looks like that because he is still regenerating his head after the Thunder-spears blew it off. As for Bertholdt, I think it is because he uses the titan's mass to create the steam, so perhaps by constantly producing steam throughout the fight he is beginning to use some of his own body. And I love that it leaves him looking like the Colossal Titan too I once did a Bertholdt cosplay where I painted half of my face like that. Great video and I'm looking forward to the next!
This was the best arc in all of anime. Return to Shiganshina is single greatest thing to have slipped onto my screen
This is the name of Armin's theme: SymphonicSuite[AoT]Part2-2nd:ShingekiNoKyojin
That's the name of the track on the OST coming out on the 26th of June.
Griffiths scene is so heartbreaking! He is utterly destroyed and then what comes after is even worse!
What made Rainer appear that way was him getting everything above his jaw-line getting completely blown off and not yet having fully regrown.
can we point out that it looked like armin had an 8 or 10-pack when he was burnt to a crisp
Everyone has a 10 pack when the skin and fat are melted off
If you search Attack on Titan Armin Ost on youtube, you're gonna find the second song 😄
this season more effectivley conveyed true, hopeless despair than pretty much any other show or movie I've ever seen, and that makes the turnaround to pure victorious hype in the very next episode so amazingly sweet. Especially because they managed to turn it around without any ass-pulls or deus-ex-machinas. Just some clever plans, extreme badassery, and the enemies having some extremely sensible weaknesses that they had been doing a good job of hiding. While the Spring season paled in comparison to Winter, this on its own was enough to significantly raise my opinion of it.
Shame we couldn't get something like that this Summer.
one of the best SERIES of all time
True.
i love the attention to detail, when the scouts are on their horses heading towards the inner gate, you can see small tubes coming out of the ground serving as airholes for the people about to be turned into titans
Reiner’s face muscles are showing when it shows him inside his titan is because his head was blown off by the thunder spears and his head was still in the process of growing back, they even show his skull and exposed brain in one shot in both anime and manga, but the anime has been heavily censored. As for Bertolt I think his face muscles are showing because it’s his version of the marks beneath Eren and Zeke’s eyes after being in Titan form.
Everything great about attack on titan is everything.
at 24:17 you mention not knowing what caused him to appear like this, it's slightly censored in the anime compared to the original manga, but that thunder spear attack that nearly killed Reiner blew off a lot of his head, like, he had just the neck, the base of his head with some of his hair, and his lower jaw still attached to his body. the smoke in the anime slightly covers it, because censorship for tv and all, but if you look closely Reiners head is definitely mostly gone. also in an earlier episode before this scene it has a quick shot showing Reiner regenerating his head while inside the titan where you see exposed eyes and brain. so the hairlessness and exposed muscle around his face is just his body not quite being done putting his head back together. hence the short term memory loss as well. so yeah, its more he's taken too much damage then him being in the titan too long.
as for berthold's face, i got nothing. it's shown his face like that once or twice before this, so it might just be how his marks on his face look after a while in his titan, though it might instead be him wearing down and being in the titan too long like you theorized. either way, it does clearly show how similar his facial structure is to his titan's, once the skin starts to disappear and all.
15:56 16:26 16:55 How pigs felt in Angry birds
fun fact: while the Survey Corps is riding into Shiganshina, a close-up shot of the hooves of the galloping horses shows a breathing pipe sticking up from a mound of dirt. That's where the titans came from; they were buried alive, then transformed.
(it's even worse if you've read the manga)
Yesss I love how the characters change through season to season love how they build them up :))))
20:40 what i thought was dumb at the time but made so much sense when id watched the most recent episodes, the beast titan keeps making references to baseball...something that i would assume only exists with the other civilisation across the ocean, i love it!!!
24:21 If I remember correctly, when they first took down Reiner his head/ a huge portion of his head was completely blown off. So when it regenerated it’s completely bare and scarred.
Hence why they were so positive that he was down for good
all those thousands of years and i consider myself lucky being born in time of snk. fucking masterpiece .
Armin becoming toast made me cry
Now y’all remembered when Levi went Sickkomode when he was young in the ova episodes? Yeah, this present fight with the beast titan brought good nostalgia.
Thunder spears were introduced in manga #19. It shows Hange launching a spear at a tree causing it to explode as if it were struck by lightning. Also in the manga hange also explains how if you get to close you’ll explode. Sad how they didn’t show it in the anime
Edit: also in the manga Connie made an even better pun saying to eren: “how does it feel to finally have your roof over your head again?” Followed by Sasha hitting him on the head
I actually noticed in the intro and was commenting to my mate that the Beast titan throws stuff like an experienced baseball player, maybe it's a subtle hint of, you know what, it's little things like that man, I thought it was brilliant.
This is legit the anime version of world war 2
If you like jean's voice actor i recommand bungou stray dogs he appears quite lately but damn is it worth it! Love your work !
the CGI was so good in this show i rarely notice it
A new ep came out today! And also I enjoy your vids so so so so sooooo much!!!
24:18 not sure if this was mentioned before but. Reiner had his whole head blown off. His body is still healing from that which is why his face looks so weird. It's not because of extended periods of time spent in a titan. He doesn't even have his hair back yet.
Bert looks the way he does because I'm assuming it's to match the face of the Colossal Titan for cool factor.
Thanks so much for this video! I absolutely _LOVE_ seeing people gush over something they love! It is SO much better for me than the opposite, listening to people complain about what they hate.
!!!!Detail!!!!
@18:58
The Short black haired girl in the back is Ilse from the OVA Episode "Ilse's Journal"
She was the last scout in the previous Scout Expedition,
she wrote in her journal a detailed description of her travels outside the walls all the way up to her final seconds which was essentially Paradise's first encounter with a talking titan and died trying to communicate with it while describing the interaction.
Her journal, found by Hange, is the sole reason Erwin authorized Hange to proceed with capturing to study titans in Season 1 Part 2
24:17 Reiner’s face was blown up to the point of his lower jaw being the only thing remaining. His head is regenerating. Anime only people probably couldn’t tell because it’s censored in the anime.
When Connie says "Eren no iega" he made a pun, (no ie) means "Eren's house" that sounds like he says "Jaeger" in Japanese.
FR?????
24:24 His head exploded earlier, it is still regenerating in this shot
About your theory. I think with Reiners case he only looked like that because his head was blown off and had not completely regenerated. That’s why he looks so deformed. As for Bertholdt I think certain shifters begin to resemble their Titan from the moment they go into it. Again look at Reiner earlier this season they show him in his Titan form after Levi stabbed him and his face has a split down his forehead like the armored titan same with his chin. So I think Bertholdt is just the extreme of that looking like the Colossal Titan while in it also Eren has been in his Titan for just as long as both of them and he doesn’t look deformed. But those are just my thoughts
So ... you didn't give a win for Erwin's speech? Wtf man... that was one of the best moments of AOT
19:54
@@AnimeSinsNEW Oh ok u just didnt show it ^^
25:15 when I was watching the episode I couldn’t believe it ,I was like no this can’t happen absolutely not
I love how using crystals for the lamps and Levi looking cool while jumping off of a horse got the same amount of points as armin’s entire character arc lol
24:12 Like how the colossal titan explodes due to the heat of his transformation this happens after the heat gets to you. The titan insides will probably burn you alive and melt your skin and such.
Reiner looking scarred was probably due to him literally being blown up and his skin's only just regenerating, hence he looks a bit potato-like. And Bertholdt looks that way because he was using his steam a lot, which does (as they stated) involve him burning up his titan flesh to attack, so it does have an effect of making him look scarred kind of how Eren looked when he overused his titan back in the first couple of arcs (S1).
Even the name 'Levi' makes a win
Same goes for Erwin
Levi....just Levi 💜
Nah, but Mikasa, just my Mikasa!
the track playing during Armin’s battle is the ‘owl’s theme’.
The reason why Reiner looks like that was because during the battle with eren the scouts blew up his head. It’s why the next seen they show him you he his brain developing again and then the next shot they show his head his back but his hair is not. It’s showing that he’s healing after the damage caused.
can't show someone getting stabbed.
can show someone being burnt/melted alive.
YTs algorithm is pretty weird.
One was very clear, the other wasnt so much
@@AnimeSinsNEWoml you replied i get it now thanks
The reason Reiner looked like that was because his head was blown off in the blasts of the thunder spears and it hadn't fully finished healing. The reason Berhtolt looked like that was because his Titan ability, his heat, constantly damages him as he uses it, making his titan form smaller and weaker, and apparently burning the skin off his human form's face where it connects to him. As for the Marco moment, I believe it was shown partly in season 2, but this time, it was shown in full, tragic detail.
I was basically right then I guess.
@@AnimeWins Yeah, for sure.
Freakshow921 part of the Marco scene was also in Annie’s OVA I think
The track names you asked for are “ShingekiNoKyojin” for the scene with Armin getting burnt to a crisp, and “2An” for the scene with Erwin and Levi talking. The Soundtrack will be released on June 26.
In regards to your theory about the scarring from overusing your titan form, for Reiner he needed to then most of his head so I saw that as him still not being fully healed. For Bertholdt he hadn't been in his titan form for that long compared to the others, so that might just be how he looks when he uses it.
17:30 funny how you mention BNHA as a comparison considering a lot of the cast is shared between both anime. Highly agreed that in both anime the cast is absolutely perfect!
ODM gear animation is pure eyegasm
The Marco scene was slightly teased earlier during Annie’s Lost Girls OVA story, which is probably what you were thinking of. Way to notice that the scene seemed familiar!
"I was genuinely shocked and taken aback by just how small eren was in his tatan form against the massive collasal titan, even after seeing the graph over break back in season 1 or 2"
*meanwhile* eren laughs in skeleton form.
What's great about S4: S3 sacrifices for humanity to reach the basement, ironically paves way to the biggest humanitarian crisis ever in their history.
Great work
From what i know i think from some manga spoilers of titan biology the human anatomy decomposes into a singular pack of fibres within the nape of the neck on a titan when a person become titan turns into a titan shifter it reconstructs there body
its possible the titan body could be reasimilating their body mass as a way of preserving energy or just its not possible to recontruct the body due to how much dmg and tire they have been put under
I think Reiner was having a flashback of Marco getting eaten back when they were talking with Yimir in the forest and she pointed out how Reiner is likely going insane. It only showed a shot of Annie, bertholdt and Reiner tho, not them catching him and removing his gear. (I think....)
I am indeed enjoying this season to the max and your videos are the best bonus i could ask for ^^
They also already showed Annie being the one who took off his OVM Gear in her OVA.
The track at around 26:00 is SymphonicSuite[Aot]Part2-2nd: ShingekiNoKyojin and is the 11 song in the album.

The reason why Reiner's face looks like a rejected jojos character is because his face got blown off by the thunder spears, and it's still in the process of healing. As for berthordlt, I think it is similar to you're theory and that it's that way because the explosion took so much energy.
Was it the thunder spears that did him over like that? Or was it Bert's transformation?
