They used the stairs in the days after the recent Earthquake and we walked down them in 1967. I just couldn’t remember the setup of the elevator back then. I guess the stairs were closed to tourists in the 1970s.

If I remember correctly, in 1967 there were clear windows in the elevator - or do I remember walking down the stairs to see the commemorative stones?
