Delaware Destination Dispatch Traction Modded Elevator at Washington Monument, Washington, D.C.

I have finally filmed this! The elevator has gone through various modernizations through the years. It historically was very unreliable. I rode it back in 2014 in it's previous version. In 2019, it finished a mod by Delaware with generic destination dispatch! There were a few faults at the beginning, but it seems to be running much more reliably now. This is the tallest elevator in the DMV (as the monument is the tallest structure) at 500 feet/50 floors. It is, however, not the fastest, as it only reaches a top speed of 500 FPM. On the way down, it slows to a crawl twice, once at the 300 ft mark and once at the 170 ft mark. The lights dim, the glass becomes transparent, and riders are able to see the stone inside the structure. I was lucky to get a non-busy ride up and a solo ride down! I think this is because the monument is still limiting the rate of people entering the tower due to COVID.
