Chris Nicholas The Schindler Miconic 10 was discontinued, then later on they made the Schindler PORT destiination dispatch system. But I believe you have a point, these are Schindler Miconic 10 elevators from Schindler that are in this building.
Being afraid of elevators without buttons inside is ridiculous. We would say the same thing about the reason why elevator operators were around for so long, because people didn't like the elevator going on it's own.
Had a similar system back in my university. But it had the worst algorithm ever, couldn't serve properly during peak hours because so many students on the ground floor had to wait for a single car, while the rest of the cars hardly move. Eventually they were replaced with regular ones.
Saurabh Talreja Just press again. And besides, you have made the elevator that has been chosen in the first more clear. Because there is more room. Eventhough, in the system it still counts you.
About 4 years ago, a friend and I visited NYC.....I wanted to see them and got some nice film footage. HOWEVER, We were both disappointed with the wait times , despite the destination control system. I'm sure it's a LOT better, but due to the traffic volume in that place, more cars are needed.....but of course that is not feasible
Engineering is always a compromise. When the entire system is optimized, it does not mean individual experience is improved. For example, one particular customer's request may need to be put aside so that 10 other customers got served right away. For the overall better throughput, you'll get 10 happy customer and 1 very unhappy one. You found the wait being long, but the engineer may tell you it could be worse if the smart system is turned off. :-)
In modern times, the Miconic 10 (the destination dispatch system being used at the hotel) is quite slow & inaccurate. Random allocation failures, inaccurate floor numbering, etc. These have since been modernized by PORT (Schindler's Miconic 10 successor.) I'd say that system will serve these significantly better now.
To whom it may concerned, My name is An-an Pi, and I am an executive editor in Lungteng Cultural Co., Ltd., a publishing house in Taiwan. I'm writing to ask for permission to use the video "The Smartest Elevators with destination dispatch" in our subsidiary teaching material for high school teachers. The video is for non-commercial use and will be used in a course lecture dealing with a lesson about "Elevator Ups and Downs" in our textbook. With your permission, we would appreciate being able to use the video as a teaching material helping students to understand destination elevator. We hope you will give us the permission requested. Please let us know if you have any questions concerning this license. Thank you for your help with this matter and we are looking forward to hearing from you. Very truly yours, An-an, Pi
Tell the videography hating guards at the MM to stop attacking people filming the elevators. Asking questions is fine, but saying not to film is total BS.
California destination dispatch of course is confusing cause now you got all destination dispatch from all over the world in California and I think all non American-American destination dispatch in California and everywhere you find smart elevators although first non American company Mitsubishi is having first time in an American city and state of California USA and in fact sf is first to have weird elevators
I love the Otis Autotronic Elevators in the beginning, I bet Dieselducy will love that. At the end, But love the Schindler Miconic 10 Elevators.
Well those elevators are sure famous on youtube!
I filmed those elevators. Oh and I say this all the time, I'm ten years old
true
The elevators that are at the Marriott are Schindler Miconic 10
These Schindler Destination Dispatch is called Schindler Miconic 10.

@@JordanLoweElevaToursCanada Actually, very recently, they have been modded with PORT.
2:06 he right the damn elevators don’t come

One Oxford Centre Downtown Pittsburgh before it got the “same treatment”.
@Elevating Western PA
Do you like Barney The Purple Dinosaur?
“same treatment” What?!
@@danamaderas3382 I don't even remember making this comment lol. I guess I meant "Same treatment" as in it also got Schindler destination-dispatch.
@@EWPA14 Okay, thanks! 🛗
And some nincompoop decided to have these Modernized again. This time by Otis with the compass
These are actually now Schindler Port (not Compass+) 👍
This incredible product was invented more than 10 years ago, and its still not widely used in my country.
In fact it was invented in 1993
Also the 3rd floor when you type floor 45 it takes 8 minutes of waiting!
What elevators did the hotel have before the miconic 10 elevator
westinghouse normal elevator
The show featured the destination dispatch buttons on the totally awesome elevators at the Marriott Marquis in times sq NYC.
I like the standard push buttons more, idk why..

What about the Marriot Marquis Machine Room?
Had a similar system back in my university. But it had the worst algorithm ever, couldn't serve properly during peak hours because so many students on the ground floor had to wait for a single car, while the rest of the cars hardly move. Eventually they were replaced with regular ones.
Now these are like the most famous elevators on RUclips! Sadly, they have since been modded by Schindler PORT, but they are still very cool!
Now locked off
what if we pressed the top floor on the DD but later realised that we want to just stop at second floor... how floor will be selected then???
Saurabh Talreja Just press again. And besides, you have made the elevator that has been chosen in the first more clear. Because there is more room. Eventhough, in the system it still counts you.
Isn't this the movie by Nova called,'Trapped In An Elevator"??? :D I HAVE IT ON DVD!
Do you like Barney?
Yes, this part of that DVD (I have it too!!)
How can I buy that DVD
oooh first viewer and first comment!!!! never happened to me before...i feel like a pioneer lol
nice vid as all in your channel ;)
Heard those were originally Westinghouse. Then got upgraded to the newer miconic 10.
The office building that I use has got destination dispatch and it’s a kone version of it

Looking forward to the arrival of Sirius Cybernetics Corporation elevators with the ‘defocused temporal perception’ facility.
There is also an elevator like a Schindler Miconic 10 called the Otis Compass.
Schindler's Lift
YAY MICONIC 10
were is the full episode of this
I kind of want to experiment with code that makes a destination dispatch algorithm.
Why did u cut it short
These got modded by the same thing, just with touch screens, new logic, and new keypads
these elevators are still slow and ih8esclators got stuck in them going to the 48th floor view resturant
