U2's 1990s period is aging like fine wine. Love it when the boys were unapologetic showmen.
Couldn't have put it better
I love this stuff in particular myself
Peter & Eoin in the nude
A rushed and ‘unfinished’ album that still gave us Discoteque, Please, Staring at the Sun and Velvet Dress…
90's - my absolute fave U2!!!!!, when choosing one decade
WOW WOW WOW
THE MUSIC - AMAZING
THE CONCERTS - MIND BLOWING
SO DAMN GLAD TO HAVE BEEN A FAN SINCE 87
Interesting observation
This tour was magical, felt like U2 were fighting, Pop was for me the best thing they ever did, every album they did in the 90's was incredible, I was 14 when Pop came out, was never into U2 but Pop changed that and then see this tour live with my Da, God rest him, once here at home in Ireland and twice in Wembley, 22nd and 23rd of August if I recall, incredible, not a big fan of their 2000 work onwards but there are flashes of brilliance in each record, I always hoped they would continue to experiment and as I have waited 26 years for them to blow me away again but not to be, still best band on earth back here by far.
Spot on.
100%. I watch clips from this tour and think about what could have been if they continued on this creative trajectory. Instead they are living in the past doing Joshua Tree reunion tours and making a mockery of their back catalog with uninspired renditions.
@@wags627 100% mate, I know they most likely made more money but they did it at the expense of their art, back in the 90's I never knew what to expect from U2, now I know more or less exactly what to expect, there have been some moments on each album but they lost that 'it' factor, whatever that it factor is, shame, I really feel we got robbed of some incredible work.
@@adamgarlinger2440 Amen brother, respect from Ireland to ye 🇮🇪
I hope they do a 30th anniversary
Remember watching this on the BBC. POPmart has aged very well, this could easily be a tour in 2021.
SERIOUSLY. Just bump up the resolution of the screen and it gets modern.
Thinking about it, that's pretty much the Joshua Tree anniversary tour.
The world will never see concerts of this magnitude again i feel
360, i+e 2015, e+i 2018 would like to have a word with you.
I've been on all the tours and I haven't felt anything like the "Popmart" again.
Pop, U2's last masterpiece.
Quiet...listen to this decade of best music in history..i was there on there Tour...in Stuttgart...and munich..awesome time...cant forget...always in my mind..
I was there ... met the band, had Anton Corbijn take my picture. Magical.
Mam 50 lat ,mieszkam w Polsce.
Choć muszę przyznać, że 30-lecie „The Joshua Tree tour” pozostawiło w moich ustach świetny niesmak. Tęsknię za latami 90., kiedy U2 podejmowało ryzyko i tworzyło nową, innowacyjną muzykę.
@@ivandm79 Pozdrawiam Cię serdecznie🙂🖐🏻
I can't imagine any other band with a 40ft spinning lemon. Geniuses.
I still wish they could have played a full length version of If You Wear that Velvet Dress. This arrangement sounds beyond gorgeous.
Fantastic transition from Please to Street!!!!!!!
I was there that friday. Wonderfull concert. It rained allday, but when Skunk Anansie started, as a support act, it started to get dry. During Staring at the Sun a full Moon came up from behind the stadiums roof as it was planned.
Goosebumps
Great memories.
looking up Skunk Anansie now, forgot about that, thanks!
U2 always seemed to play there best concerts at Feyenoord Stadium.....from what Ive seen as lifelong dedicated fan.
I was there,both nights 18 and 19 July
Both brilliant nights👌
Popmart was an unbelievably amazing tour for an equally fabulous album. I’ll never forget being shocked that the 3rd night at Giant Stadium didn’t sell out like the 1st 2 did. The entire 2nd level of the stadium was empty! I remember getting tickets from Propaganda and there were still seats on the field-so you could just casually walk up to the catwalk to take pictures since it wasn’t crowded. ❤️
I loved pop album although it took a good few listens.
I was at pop tour concert in Edinburgh and was absolutely amazing.
Amazing album and tour - we are U2ers
I was there, 1997 Warsaw Poland. Beautyfull Concerto 👌
I taped this from the BBC broadcast and watched it religiously in the lead up to my first ever gig at Leeds a few months later. Still the most exciting day of my life.
Same here, rained at Leeds when Cast were on. We were pissed and soaked.
You probably know this, but link below to audio recording of the Roundhay Park concert

lucky you, leeds was easily the best POPmart show, wish it'd been videotaped from a good angle
@@Adrianburd yep - that's one of my photos from before the gig that they've used over the audio!
I WAS AT LEEDS AND YES IT PISSED DOWN BUT DIDNT DAMPEN ANY SPIRITS THAT DAY.
Please into Streets (MY ALL TIME FAVE U2 SONG)
WOOOOOOOOOOOW
Was at the landsdown rd gig without a doubt their best days
I was there too. Great concert, did the size of Landsdowne Road just suit that tour? During 'Pride' they stopped playing, the audience out-sang them, they couldn't get feedback themselves. He said to stop or the neighours would hear us which got a big laugh.
Min 3:14 is Sunday Bloody Sunday drum 🥁 ❤️
I was there, great concert and the giant screen was fabulous. Please is stunning!
I,m dutch.
But when i see the dutch public , i shame myself.
They look like dead.
Only the songs they know , then they can dance and swinging.
This where four master-pieces.
Thx for uploading this video.
Holy moly! Anyone ever notice the lights are hearts?!
I saw it live on TV and it blew my mind...still my favourite song ever from that moment...
I remember catching a part of this on a Canadian all music channel called "Much Music" when this came out. They never played it again. This is a great performance not only worthy of appearing on tv again but also worthy of being on dvd back in the day. It's a shame to have had to wait so long for something like this.
My favorite U2 concert footage. Very disciplined, intense playing, esp. from Bono.
Agree 110%
My fav also , the measured intensity, focused , total professionals who give 110% every performance.
i was there and it was sooooo f*****ng awesome!
Where the streets have no name version sublime
Please♥️♥️♥️♥️
That remix of Lemon is fucking amazing
Best PopMart gig
18 yrs ago today! Great great night
23 years ago now
The band says when this tour was really on it was their favorite. Love watching these videos back when they were still a rock band.
Surely with that gay lemon 🍋 is surely pure rock and roll 🎸 😝
@@fernandosilvera3669 it’s not gay it’s great
@@mysticedge4 @Fernando Silvera it's gay if it wants to be gay, and it's great as it is. U2 are not homophobes and you shouldn't be either.
What a great show!
.
FANTÁSTICO
Eu estive neste show no Estádio Morumbi, em São Paulo, Brasil.
I was at this show at Morumbi Stadium in São Paulo, Brazil. I usually say that it was the show with the best sound quality I've ever been to. Unforgettable. U2 is timeless! Thanks.
He’s looked smart this time... love you more and more bno.....🥀
I was there, skunk Anansie as the pre show😍😍😍😍
Must have been great
Great.
Great Tour - Back when U2 set the bar !
They still set the bar today in terms of live performance.
"That's the way, i like it".... yeahhh

grande classe !! very very smart !!!
El enlace discotheque/if you wear... me parece sublime.
amazing 90s
El Riddim di Sunday bloody sunday nell break di Please. Un momento unico che scordero mai!
THIS should have been the show they released.
Exactly
@@alexmorrison9156 not sure I agree..Mexico crowd seemed wild and up for it....Dutch crowd seem subdued...
@@habibhussain825 I'll take Bono's voice being killer over a louder crowd every time.
Watching now, loe it
Sounds good.. 🥀
better than the Mexico DVD performance
Absolutely
No es cierto. Thats not true.
Yes it was a maxi cd...!!!best release ever...
Then it would’ve been released instead.
No !! Actually No !!
11:56 whoa I’ve never heard this extended version of streets before how brilliant.

“Please” ?? When you ask you better be playing guitar as good as The EDGE does !!
Rock n Roll U2 Style !!! TopJimmy
Awesome guitar playing indeed !!!

Ain't Bono just brilliant
Yeah he was

I had liked to be there , that´s a pity!
Excellent versions much better than those of the DVD in PopMar in Mexico, could you please pass the link of those songs or the full concert in audio to download it, thanks in advance, greetings from Peru.

Trying to educate a 12 year old.. no succes. Was at one of the Rotterdam concerts..he doesn’t see it yet, hope it will land soon
All of these was inspired by Pink Floyd's 1994 Division Bell tour! Guaranteed! Curious if Marc Brickman was the stage designer! He did the same thing for The Rolling Stones in same year (Bridge to Babylon).
nope, Willie Williams is U2's stage designer. both POPmart and the Stones tour had Mark Fisher behind them though, from what I'm reading here. pretty impressive stages!
@@c.l.m.c.3328 You are right, I must have mixed Brickman with Fisher. Babylon was identical to Division, specially with the circle. Surprised Roger didn't sue them. lol
@@m7floyd ngl, looking at the stage pics, the Voodoo Lounge design seems more monstrous and impressive than Bridges to Babylon. The Division Bell stage is pure class though.
@@c.l.m.c.3328 Agree.
That dancing lady(!) is from The Netherlands, guaranteed lol
03:13 Sunday Bloody Sunday drum beat
What's going on here?
Hallo Rotterdam
360 tour costed them $1 mill per concert but still a disappointment compare to this one.
Some of these songs are on the Popmart DVD
This videos are from the 2nd disc of the DVD "Popmart live from Mexico City" (Special edition).
@@ivandm79 I know

Great tour but the sound was below par, bono's vocals were disconnected from the music at this show

They were so up their own asses during Pop and the subsequent Popmart tour that they just allowed their music to get stuck up a blind alley, didn't,t recover until ATYCLB with Beautiful Day .They,re vastly overrated that,s all I can say with great alacrity.
You can't be more wrong. ATYCLB is pop trash compared to their 90s albums.
U2 is a unique and surprising band but very lazy... "Pop" could have been even better than it was. It's an LP that wasn't finished on time and still sounds very modern and fresh today. ATYCLB is a great album but it falters in the last third of its track listing. Overall for me "Pop" is much more sophisticated and risky.
