- I have really enjoyed doing these 'one color' challenges. Putting the art supplies away?...not so much. hehe But thanks for clicking on another one, I hope you enjoy! Red is one of my favorite colors; I especially love the darker shades like the copic lipstick one and the Ruby earth pencil.

Shula, just like her name suggests, is just like a flame. She has always been an outgoing girl and was often getting into mischief. She has always had a strong connection to the colour red, relating it back to her freedom. The blood that runs down from her cuts during her escapes. Her hair as it blows in the wind. The brick walls she uses as her canvas. Red is her colour of freedom.
Everyone's colour of freedom is different. For some it's blue. The colour of the ocean and sky. The colour of their father's eyes that know them so well. For others it is yellow. The colour of sunflowers that grow tall and strong, that give them confid. If a flower can stand tall why couldn't they?
But sometimes red makes her want to cry. The memories of three years ago occasionally popping into her mind. She was only eight back then. Still a child, even now. She can still recall every single detail of the events in her mind as if it was a scene from a movie. The red car speeding down the road, swaying back and forth like a tree in a hurricane. The flash of her father pushing her out of the way, putting himself in danger. The sound as tires squealed against pavement, her screams filled the air, the stop sign buckled... And her father hitting the ground, red cap falling off his head, red blood leaking out. She couldn't move or breathe, the car took off and she was left alone on the darkened street, her father dying before her.
The first year was the worse, and it gradually got easier... But sometimes she still slips up. The casual call for her father that is never going to be answered. Texting his number on a bad day, expecting a response. But life ticks on and he's not there. She started rebelling more, often getting brought home in the back of police cars. Her mum always yelled at her, telling her to behave and that it was difficult for everyone. But that only made it worse. But thankfully last year she found her saving grace.
Shula stumbled by them on accident, Power, a local graffiti group. Their pieces were beautiful, and even though they worked solo, their pieces matched beautifully. At first she would just follow them around, watching them. She would also, of course, run away with them. So, she always felt like a part of the group. And she was. They nicknamed her Cool Red, after her fiery personality and the red cap she always wore. (And probably also her hair, but that's an after thought really.)
She had found a way to get out her feelings, and be happy again. They loved her for who she was, and they believed she was strong. She started to believe it too. And she always looked forward to the days she got to go out and paint with them, or even just hang at a local arcade. They were always there for her and she would die for them. So, she guesses, this is how her father felt about her that day... A love so strong for someone that'd you give up your life for theirs.
She adjusted her cap on her head, standing up. The sound of a car in the distance. She looked at those around her, everyone knowing what's about to go down. Cops.
The cop car slowed to a stop outside the alley, a police man stepping out. There were no words spoken, they have done it so many times before. They scattered, different directions. Some took to free running, using their agility to escape. Some ran to hide and blended in.
Shula? She ran ahead, past the cops.
Her body slid over the roof of the car, feet hitting the pavement. She ran, a smile across her face. She heard the officer chasing after her, but she continued to run. She felt free, the air blowing her hair back. She couldn't wait for tomorrow, to do it all over again.
Sorry, it looked like one of those stop scenes in a show when it introduces characters. Like it has the main elements of the character around them and stuff... And I just got inspired to write this. And, of course, I had to make it sad at some point....
Edited some errors that were bugging me... And also to say thank you for everyone not only liking this but appreciating my work. While I don't exactly like it myself, I am glad that you all enjoy it!

If you scrape over the top of the crayon on the paper after using it it gets rid of the texture but leaves the pigment

These are REALLY cool! I have recently started drawing again after years of having pretty much abandoned the craft, and my sister showed me these videos and challenged me to try that with my own art supplies. It's was a red car. There was a crimson bike on top of it. The person had red hair and red eyes. They were on their way to work. They were taking a shortcut through the bad part of town because they were running late.
That sounds about right I think.

I don’t usually see people use watercolor pencils! Personally they are my favorite because I don’t like paints. One thing I realized is that other don’t usually use the watercolor pencil as the watercolor! Thank you for using itttttt!
