You nailed the Houston Zoo vibe--you can NEVER see the jaguar there, either :P
Lovely episode and thanks so much for respecting the sightlines of the Domez house, as well as the whole "concept" behind the modernized habitat on the side of it.
Hahahaha, wonderful lol
Thanks man, it means a lot! The Domez House is and will always be one of my favorite builds in the entire zoo (honestly, it pretty much is my favorite one but I can't say that out loud or Mike will bish again hahaha) so I really want to show as much respect as possible to the original vision behind it.
Love this area! Those custom terrariums are gorgeous.
Thanks Robustus! Always appreciate your opinion on these things :D
The jaguar enclosure is gorgeous, but I can't get over that curved anaconda terrarium?? That entire building is wonderful.
I'm not going to lie, I'm also very very happy with it hahaha The effect is just so good, I'm going to do a lot more of this in the future :D
This was great, I really loved what you’ve done here!
Thank you so much!
Always love the zoo science stuff! Really nice video again, as always
Thank you so much! It's comments like these that made me feel more confident about sharing the thought process behind it all, so I truly appreciate them!
Lovely work as always, really nailed it. It fits in so well - can't wait for the next episode
Thank you so much, always genuinely appreciate your comments :D
Love the jaguar exhibit with the predator and prey set up its very realistic and a simple idea! The Amazon Reptile House is fantastic aswell! Too bad you were alone though at least ya got us for praise! Lol
It's 100% Wyatt's idea, forgot to mention that in the episode but it works SO FREAKIN WELL. It's such a simple thing, but it just ... works!
Hahaha yeah, hopefully I get some people to join me next time! Thanks for your comment as always Sam, you know I really appreciate them!
Awesome what you were able to make with those exhibits, wow 😮 Perfect how you kinda framed the Domez House without taking away from it and use it as backdrop for the caiman and the Jaguar at the same time, really nice job! ❤
Thank you so much :D I'm really happy how it turned out, those were the goals I set out and it all seems to have worked out the way I wanted to!
Here's a genuine question, when you build your enclosures how do you make the animals seem big, because a lot of the time when I make enclosures the animal will seem too small and not that intimidating but when I shrink the enclosure the enclosure becomes to small for the animal, how do you manage this because when I watch youtubers like you the enclosures seem apropriate size whilst the animals are still big and intimidating. Anyways this is a wonderful videos, certainly one of the best jaguar enclosures I've seen and definitely deserves a National Anthem
Australians all let us rejoice
For we are one and free
We've golden soil and wealth for toil
Our home is girt by sea
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
Of beauty, rich and rare
In history's page let every stage
Advance Australia fair
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair
Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We'll toil with hearts and hands
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands
For those who've across the seas
We've boundless plains to share
With courage let us all combine
To advance Australia fair
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair
Good question! I actually use a few tricks from the zoo books I have.
The first one is that you should get a guest as close to the animals as possible because that allows us to see it as it is much easier. It's why it's best to not only give overhead views of animals as it will warp the perspective a bit which means the animals will look smaller.
Second trick is part of selling a habitat multiple times, so that means that you have to make sure that you can't see everything of your habitat all of the time from every angle. You can see parts of the habitat here in every viewing nook, but never the entire habitat. It has two main side effects when it comes to the animals, which is that makes you focus more on looking for the animal and gives a bigger wow effect once you spot it; and it also puts the focus on the animal more because you aren't distracted by the entire thing.
Third trick is by using things in the area where the animal comes often that you know the scale of. Like, we roughly know want an average log looks like, so by having a log there in the viewing area with the water, our brain can fill in the gaps when the jaguar is in the water and we only see its head as we know how big the head is and we see the log, so we know how big the animal should be.
It all feels really theoretical, but using these well can help tremendously when it comes to putting the animals on the forefront and not be dwarfed by the large habitat they're in!
How do you get a curve with the invisible exhibit
You'll need the invisible exhibit mod and freebuild for it; but what I basically did was make a regular habitat with a curved glass fence and added water in. Then I matched up the waterline of the habitat with the waterline of the exhibit, and tada, you've got yourself a curved exhibit!
This technique is based on what Goron has done in Keypark, so credit goes to him :D
IS THIS ON THE WORKSHOP?
Not yet, but it will be once it's finished!
4:47, or maybe they were taken out due to COVID and never brought back-maybe something better will come up eventually, but other areas needs more work first
Oh yeah that also works :D
Wait I thought the invisible exhibit mod wasn’t working at the moment. Did it get fixed or was I just wrong?
I'm using Leafs version atm! I might give him a ping and fix some of the aquatics ones as they still feature the lines.
@@Iben I just downloaded it last night to see for myself and it’s the most beautiful thing. I don’t know why frontier haven’t given us the option to toggle the glass on and off like they did with the walkthroughs.
