Here's a little trade tip my neighbour who is a retired carpenter showed me when rehanging one of my doors. The existing holes in the wood were stripped, so the hinges would have been loose. He took a couple of matches, put them in the oversized holes, snapped them off and made sure the screws then tightened.
My Dad showed me that trick maybe 60 Years ago, brought a great memory back to me, think that was the same Day he put a Bradawl through the thin skin between my thumb and forefinger 🙂Great how some of the scars and wounds you pick up through life remind you of good times.

Its getting better and better, Andy works so hard, and so do you Melissa. Stop excusing for some things you have to redo, if you don't try you don't know what is the best solution. The concert is a bit to far for me from Holland but I hope it will be sold out. Hearing Andy play reminds me I have to start practicing myself again on guitar. I have been for about half a year now in a very stressful home move and realized even more after seeing all my stuff I had to move I have to start selecting what's really important for me .. I still have a dream about sailing away with a nice sailboat and my wife but all my stuff is now a big anchor I cannot use on my ship, Your video's do wake me up .. those boards Jack painted do look very good! Fun as always to see your video's!

simple fix for loose hinge screws. get some wood tooth picks and some wood glue. dip the toothpick in the glue and put it in the screw hole and break it off. put the screw back in. if the hole is really bad put two or three picks in the hole and put the screw back in. cost to fix those loose hinges is almost nothing. I also find the flat wooden toothpicks work best.

Love the aft cabin! Lucky boys. Just a suggestion. On the drawers ( beautifully varnished ) a bit of candle wax on the drawers will ensure smooth operation for ages. ❤
I would refrain from the candle wax, nightmare on a boat, they could go flying out if the catch moves, how do I know, been there, done it, regretted it.

We have a near identical boat with similar aft cabin and identical access from the cockpit via sliding deck hatch and vertical slides, however we very seldom use the vertical slides as we have a simple canvas cover over the sliding deck hatch which hangs down over the vertical hatch and is attached with 4 press studs on each side. I think we’ve only ever put the slides in once or twice in very rough weather going upwind, but these days we also have the shelter of a large hard dodger a bit like yours.
The key difference probably is that the aft cabin is the main sleeping cabin for my wife and I, who are usually the sole crew, whereas for you, the aft cabin is for your kids, so I guess you want it a bit more secure. Also kids are far more easily able to access the main saloon via the crawl through.

Great update. Hope Andy is well. Personally I think the thing about product placement is that I pay for RUclips premium to avoid adverts so getting placed with something (especially when the product is not boat related) isn’t ideal

Yeah that’s an interesting one. RUclips don’t pay is anything really from RUclips premium. We get about 0.0005 pence per view from RUclips premium members. So it’s great for watching but RUclips pockets all the money and doesn’t pass anything much on to creators. Adverts on RUclips pay slightly better at around $2 per 1000 views. Product placement pays us either a fixed fee or they provide equipment as payment.
Our other option is to make all our RUclips private and only release them to Patrons because RUclips pay so poorly and especially from RUclips Premium which is practically nothing.
Basically all RUclips Premium does is hand the money direct to RUclips so none of it goes to the people who actually make the videos.

Regarding the Clear vs Varnished boards, Maybe the clear may be a tad more dangerous on a choppy or rolling sea if you fell and landed across it you may emulate poor Mary Queen of Scots. Plus Captain Jack has made such a superb job of the varnishing it would be a real shame not to use them!!! Love the musical interlude (I played drums in the distant past!) pity we could not hear longer clips? Ah well continue with the preparations for the final farewell that sounds like the Rodger Whittaker hit!!!

Get a flexible screen protector on them .. they also protect the screen from knocks as well as scuffing.
I saw a french lady who had an aft berth center cockpit on her sailing boat but as she was a travelling musician ..she had her upright piano on a lift that camevup through the roof and she would perform in the harbours where she attended music festivals. She had a toddler and a friend who also played a fiddle.
Lovely cabin but speaking as someone with a younger Brother who had to share a room please give Jack somewhere to lock his stuff away from Ollie. :)
