This program has been initiated with the overarching goal of providing our local students invaluable exposure opportunities, with a focus on enhancing the quality of their research through meaningful interactions with university faculties in their respective fields of study. Strategically designed, the program aims to achieve the following objectives:
Applicant must:
1. Hold domicile from any district of the Punjab.
2. Hold an MS/ M.Phil. degree from foreign/local university with no 3rd division or grade D in entire academic career.
3. Candidate applying for PhD scholarships must have minimum CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0 in the semester system), CGPA 3.75 (out of 5) or first division (in theannual system) in MS/MPhil/Equivalent degree.
4. Have NOC and approved study leave from parent department, if employed. Be Maximum 40 years of age (45 year age limit for female) on the closingdate.
5. Scholarship is meant only for three years, and during the continuance of PhD the awardee shall not do/ join any other job.
6. The awardee shall seek admission in any public/private sector university of the Punjab within 9-months after award of scholarship letter.
Applicants not Eligible:
1. The candidates who are already availing any other, HEC/Government Scholarship for PhD are not eligible to apply.
2. The candidates who are already doing PhD.
Eligible students may apply using the PHEC online application form. The complete set of documents must include:
1. A Cover Letter
2. Submit a fully filled printed copy of the online application form. Ensure that the application form is complete in all respects. To apply online, (Click Here).
3. NOC and Study Leave from department/organization (if employed)
4. Photocopy of CNIC
5. Candidate CV/Resume
6. Photocopy of domicile
7. Photocopies of academic documents including:
Matriculation transcript and Degree
Intermediate transcript and Degree
BA/BSc transcript and Degree
BS/ Master transcript and Degree
M.Phil. transcript and Degree
8. PhD research proposal.
PHEC will provide funds for 36 months as per follows:
Rs. 50,000/- per month (all inclusive) for the Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Business & Management Sciences etc. and;
Rs. 100,000/- per month (all inclusive) for the Sciences & Technology.
About Dr. Muhammad Naveed
(HoD, Biotechnology, University of Central Punjab, Lahore)
With distinction, Dr. Muhammad Naveed obtained a Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology (Genomics & Bioinformatics) from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. He has won Ph.D. indigenous & IRSIP scholarships from HEC. He has done Pre-Doc research at the University of Ghent, Belgium. HEC awarded him the best Ph.D. (IRSIP) Scholar of the Year in 2013 & QAU honored him as a “Distinguished Alumni” in 2017. He is doing research projects in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biotechnology and vaccine designing, and Drug designing against infectious diseases. He has supervised 90 MSc. and 78 MPhil. & 01 Ph.D. students. He has published 150 Research articles with 1120 impact factors, 5560 citations, 01 book, 06 book chapters, and filed 05 Patents. He was awarded the distinguished “Researcher of the Year” in 2016 (UoG) and 2018, 2019 & 2021 (UCP).

Sir will industry give financial support letter easily? I mean its the letter that industry will pay you but why would some industry pay us? Please clear this point for microbiology
your research should be applied and yes they will give easily like any diagnostic lab in micro

Aoa Sir i have not enrolled for phd yet but want to enroll.. So i have a question if i'll get enroll after last date of scholarship will i eligible for this scholarship?.. Because it is mentioned tgere already enrolled candidates are not eligible and get admission within 9 months of scholarship means i can't get admission before scholarship letter if i want to get scholarship is it so?.. Sir, how a govt employee can get NOC and specially study leave with out Phd enrollment. Keeping in view this scholarship is for fresh students and they are bound to get admission in Phd with in 9 months of award letter. So plz explain. Thanks

hello sir, i want to clear a question. in my MS and BS i have scored 1st division cgpa 3.5/4 but there were few D grades and F Grades which i improved later on by enrolling in summer semesters and converted them to A and B grades . Am i eligible to apply ??

Excuse me.. i want to ask one question that it was mentioned in terms and conditions that we are bound to serve in Pakistan for 5 years after completion of our degree so does it means that we have to teach without charging any cost and will not get paid or does it simply means that we have to teach in Pakistan in any government or public sector with the same pay according to the scale? Kindly elaborate if you can..
