I love you talking about growing up. And camping and how it's so magical when your a kid and then as an adult how much packing and thought goes into it. I often wish I was a kid in that way again.
It’s funny, isnt it? When you are kid, you dont (and probably cant) fully appreciate all the work that goes into making your experiences fun and enjoyable. But then that is one of the gifts my dad gave me - he did things for me and my brother without making a song and dance about it and making us feel guilty for his efforts. He wanted us to feel loved and it just came naturally to him. My dad was a single parent and he just got on and organised everything for our camping holidays and I had no idea really the effort that went into it. That is one of the gifts i can give my kids. Just giving to them because i love them and want to care for them. Then as they get older, teaching them to be more independent. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great week. Xx
I absolutely love your channel. Your pattern choices have pushed this long term, experienced knitter to branch out. Thanks so much. Sending you love and a big hug from NYC!
Yes, I think you need to go shopping for the icy blue yarn for the snowflake sweater!! Your Field Sweater is so beautiful…💖. I just want to cast mine on, but I must finish my Champagne cardigan first!! All of your projects are great! And the light blue Anker tee is a beautiful color on you.
Tash! I just got back into watching and am catching up with your wonderful knits, sometimes life is just too much…You always make me want to knit everything! but I am not that experienced or fast! 😅 Love your Anker tee, the color really suits you. also the Carnaby skirt, yay!!! I remember following the whole painful process with you! For the other fabulous knits, since I am late to the party will comment on the videos when they are finished. ❤ Barbara from Italy 🌷
I absolutely LOVE that Purl Soho top and the seams are perfect. Honestly if you wear it somewhere and people want to comment on the seams I would be calling the cops cause they are standing too close to you😂 I have decided I want only one thing for Christmas this year and it’s for Santa to make me as fast a knitter as you! Amazing. Thanks for another great podcast
Your pink yarn is lovely and will make a beautiful sweater, however I think you should go for a icy blue yarn, especially with how nice the Ankers T looks on you. The pink would also look gorgeous on you, but in a different pattern PS thank you again for another enjoyable podcast and your time
Thanks so much for the suggestion Anne-Maree. I think you are right, the pink would be a compromise and this sweater looks like too much work to not be 100% sure going in. :)
I meant to comment last week because I really appreciate you showing us the dye journey with your skirt. I recently purchased a sweater quantity of unspun wool and it's not a colour I enjoy (online shopping error!), so I plan to knit a sweater and dye it. I do a lot of wool cloth and yarn dyeing, so I'm not too worried but was encouraged by watching your journey. Thanks from Canada!
Thanks so much Allyson. I hope your sweater dyeing experience goes well. Given you have done a bit of it before, I am sure that gives you more confidence. Any reason you are choosing to do the knitting first and the dyeing later rather than dyeing as is now? Are you concerned about felting? Thanks :)
@mostlyknitting it's unspun in plates, so I would have to skein it to dye beforehand, and I'd be worried about it breaking during the dye process. If I naturally dye it, some natural dyes actually use a much lower temp than acid dyeing so if I chose one of those, then there will be less chance of felting. Fingers crossed 😂
Thanks Tash, I have finally caught up with all your podcasts. What a great knitter and delightful, person you are. The Anker tee looks lovely on you in the blue so Snow Wonder needs to be blue too. It is a gorgeous pattern, but I have Joji Locatellis La Prairie to do, that is quite enough bobbles. I did think of doing it without them but they are nice. I am just finishing a merino/cotton Salty Air Tee for the summer, very easy pattern but you might not like it as the lace yoke does show the top of your bra. My favourites list has grown somewhat since starting watching your podcast, it is almost as lengthy as my reading list.🤣
Thanks so much Trish - and thanks for going back and watching the old episodes. That is really lovely. I just had a look at La Prairie. That is an amazing cardigan. I can see you have your fill of bobbles with that sweater for sure. I do like the Salty Air Tee but would probably have to do it as a sweater rather than a tee due to my whole bra thing. Unless i got a pretty bra that coordinated?? That could be an option. But maybe hard to buy a bra to match a yarn. Hmmm. It is a lovely design. Something to think about. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Have a great week. x
I love the color and fit of your Anker Summer Shirt and Soho Top. Now, I really want to knit one exactly like that! I agree that a pale blue color for the Snow Wonder sweater would look even more wintery ❤❤❤
Thank you. Was it your comment asking me to mention the size I am making? I thought that was a really great suggestion so i will definitely make sure that is part of my notes when describing what i am making. :)
Tash ,the pale blue really suits you. It’s definitely one of your colours. Also go for the Icy Blue for the snow jumper. Gorgeous colour and again would suit you. Have a lovely weekend away with your husband. Blessings G.🙋🏼♀️
Once again, thank you, Tash! Your Anker Summer Tee is gorgeous. Mine is coming along, but I am also busy with, believe it or not, Purl Soho Classic Ribbed Hats for my grandkids. The Pink Velvet is gorgeous as is your Field Sweater. I wanted to mention that you get a big shout out from Kim and Jonna in their latest podcast. Hoping to pop by Skein Sisters when you're teaching. Have a great weekend away.
Thanks so much Rhonda. That was a beautiful shout out from them. I love watching their podcast so that made me feel pretty special. It looks like I will be finished teaching around 1pm at Skein Sisters so it would be lovely to see you there. I’ll confirm later in the week if that is my finish time. Xx
I love all your colour choices. The Field Sweater colour is beautiful. I will probably copy that. I love the colours for The Alpine Bloom. Excited to see what your swatch looks like! I agree with the icy blue for Snow Wonder. The pink yarn is beautiful but icy blue for that pattern fits so well. Also love the way your face lights up when you talk about your family! 😀
Hello Tash🤗, once again love your podcast ❤. The icy blue colour would suit you as did the anchor tee. Love the field sweater colour and will probably buy the same colour as you
Hi Tash, oh such fun again. The Ankers looks great, it’s like an elevated T-shirt. It would look so nice in that bamboo. I’m a cold neck girl so I completely understand all the back-and-forth with the pink velvet. It’s so funny I mess around with necklines a lot, really like the look on some people but when it turns out the same on me and I’m not used to it, it completely throws me. Love the bobble sweater, I do love bobbles and it’s on my wish list to have something like that. I think it would look nice in the pink but I’m not sure if I would prefer that more in the blue whitish feel so it’s more literal?! Personal choice hey! My son has been away in Europe, he got engaged at Lake Como last month so that was very exciting. And they will be in Japan on their way home for a week in Dec. He speaks Japanese and they were there last Dec too. Watching your kids turn into adults is quite an experience! I taught my kids to ride scooters in bali when they were 13 and 15, they would ride around seminyak on the outskirts. I also made sure they both could drive manual cars and I’ve made them pretty self-sufficient. My teething pains as they adult has been minimal and fun to watch them fly (even though the feels empty at times). Ah life….. Happy knitting and I’ve smiled at the tv the whole time while knitting Christmas gifts so thanks for the fun, Karen 🥰
Congratulations to your son! That is such exciting news. Teaching our children to be self-sufficient is one of the biggest gifts we can give our kids. I wish i had a manual car to be able to show the kids how to drive one. I am so glad I learned to drive one - my dad taught me. Xx When there is an opportunity, i will definitely show them. Could you use technology to help you decide about the snowflake sweater? So save the photo of the pattern then change the colour to a similar pink in a photo editor app. If you get really good you could probably put your face on it instead as well 😅.. Never Let Me Go is one of my favourite books, I hope you love it ❤
That is a great suggestion Sonya. Usually when I make a sweater, i look at ravelry and all other people's versions. This is such a new design, i dont have that advantage. Unsurprisingly, none of the testers chose to knit a pink snowflake sweater... I dont think the pink is going to work so I think i will just be looking for an icy light blue like Heidi's. But i really like the idea of using technology. Thanks for the tip. And glad to hear your enjoyed Never Let Me Go. x
Love love love your podcast..you are talented..wanted your opinion on the sophie scarf? Thinking of gifting my daughter's as new knitter a yarny bundle to make..do u think it is too challenging as a newbie?Thx for sharing 😊
Thanks so much Tracy. That is such a lovely comment. I think the Sophie scarf could work for a new knitter but it can be a bit tricky in terms of keeping track of their rows. If they got a bit of help in the beginning and were shown how to use a locking stitch marker to keep track of rows and which side they were on (and how to do a Make 1), i think they could be ok with the pattern. :)
I think You look great in the blue, actually you look good in all the colours. The field sweater is looking really nice. I think your over thinking the pink yarn issue for the Snow wonder, we know you look good in pink and I think that yarn would look great knit up in that pattern. Perhaps if you really think at the end it doesn’t suit then don’t do the bobbles? Travelling with kids……yep parent overwhelm, ask me how I know😂 Miss you and have to see you soon xx
Thanks so much Bec. I hope you are also having fun and are getting some rest along the way. Thinking of you. Miss you too and definitely want to see you soon. xxx
Seems to me that if the icy blue sweater is the one that made your heart go pitter-pat, you should make it in icy blue. The pink would be very pretty, but you may still want the icy blue. At least that’s how it works for me. I learned the expensive way😎
Ha! I love that - “learning the expensive way”. That made me laugh. Thanks Linda. The yarn would cost me money but knitting it in a yarn that didnt feel right would cost me time and the use of the yarn that could have worked better in another sweater. Thank you! X
If you sew a short loop of twill tape or hem tape loop with tiny snaps into the shoulder of the top, you can "trap" your bra strap in the loop, so the top won't reveal the bra strap. I have done that on all my sleeveless tops. Also, since you sew, do you make your own knitting bags for your WIPs? Every time I look at one, I think about how I would design it (pockets in the lining fabric, water resistant outside, and drawstring top.
I love your ideas Jillian. Thank you so much for sharing the tip with catching the bra straps. I have made a number of project bags for my WIPS, just not many recently. I did make the Field Bag by Grainline Studio from a kit and i have 2 more already cut out and one Town Bag cut out as well. Just not sure when i will get to them. Sewing is out of the question for me at the moment. Just too many comittments. Maybe in the April holidays. :)
Andrea Mowry’s crochet bobble (see her youtube tutorial) is easy and effective - stands out better than knitted bobbles . It may even look ok w some alpaca in the yarn..🤷♀️
Oh, thank you for the tip. I will definitely be swatching and I will try out Heidi's instructions and Andrea's crochet bobble and see which one works best for me. :)
FYI-Arne and Carlos were in Japan recently and mentioned a yarn store called Avril in Kyoto-don’t know if you’ll be in Kyoto or not. I’m hoping to go in ~4 months. I’d love any recommendations you may have. Separately have you looked at/seen the sweater by Rebecca Clow (The Creabea) called Leith Cardigan? It resembles the striped jumper you mentioned at the end of your knitting segment.
Thanks so much Deb. I might try and get to Avril. It has a lot of novelty yarn so i am not sure it is has the sort of yarn i like to knit with but I imagine it would be inspirational and i am curious to see it. I will definitely get to Walnut in Kyoto. Thanks for mentioning the Leith cardigan. That is very sweet. I tend to wear pullovers more but I do like this one. Have a lovely week. :)
That would be an amazing combo. I actually have a skein of that pink yarn in a creamy white. I am not sure how i would go doing that when knitting in the round. It would be like intarsia in the round. As amazing as that would look, i am not sure i have that in me at the moment. Something to think about though. :)
Just looking at your photo - you look familiar so it must be from there. It's Cindy, right? I loved SSK. I have such beautiful memories from that time. Thanks for watching and saying hi. x
@@mostlyknitting yes, it’s Cindy and I had the best time at SSK. It feels like yesterday and I’ve kept up a few friendships. I can relate to your 18 year old . My youngest just turned 18 and is figuring things out❤️
I'm doing the PI camisole now. Can you please explain what this sections means: "Cast on XX stitches. The first 3 stitches and the last 3 stitches are edge stitches". What is the meaning of that? What type of edge stitches did you do?
Hi marie. I understand the confusion. There is nothing special about the edge stitches except that the designer is indicating that increases are always happening 3 sts in from the edge. So if you are on a knit row, knit them. If you are on a purl row, purl them. I hope that helps. :)
That’s true - it doesnt really matter if i have pink snowflakes. I reckon if this was a pale pink, i would have probably already cast on. I think i just want something really pale. I have looked at some Gillian yarn and there is a pale greeny-blue that is really pretty and a really pretty pale pink too that I could totally see it in. :)

Icy blue yarn, that’s obviously what you want to do 😉
Thanks Kerry - was it that obvious?? The pink just doesnt make sense for this design. Thank you for the nudge.
You could always knit the snow wonder in pink but use a white wool for the actual snowflake bobbles?
That would be an amazing combo. I actually have a skein of that pink yarn in a creamy white. I am not sure how i would go doing that when knitting in the round. It would be like intarsia in the round. As amazing as that would look, i am not sure i have that in me at the moment. Something to think about though. :)
Btw , I was at SSK in 2015 but we didn’t speak then but I remember you !!
@@mostlyknitting thank you 🙏🏼 Then I have done it correctly! 😅
The icy blue Snow Wonder is beautiful but that jumper in the pink would look amazing! Also “pink snowflakes” not being right - Who cares??? 😂
Olá tem de esnsinar a fazer o cardigan da Camila ❤
The Field cardigan is also beautiful. I hope the videos I have done are helpful for you with that project. :)
I absolutely love your channel. Your pattern choices have pushed this long term, experienced knitter to branch out. Thanks so much. Sending you love and a big hug from NYC!
