- I thought this would be interesting to compare.
Both Behringer machines with the same patterns and the same tempo.
Could be helpful to decide which machine you prefer.
My opinion is easy: I love the RD-8 and the first batch version with all it´s bugs.
Thanks for watching.
I am looking for cooperations and for contact in the music industry and musical business. If you have crazy connection - let me know.

It's like choosing between Dad & Mum 😅
Definitly
No shit...
I needed both of them in my life, because we are a happy family
Nah, dad (rd9) fvcks ya harder 😃 x
I’m the problem child. So ima steal both!
Thanks for the great video! Now I’m even more undecided
This is perfect- I’m definitely loving the full sounds of the RD-9 over the RD-8. It sounds so nice to me - thanks for this comparison Penishead 👍
A family divided is a broken house. Don't make broken house, keep them together.
It's ironic how much more modern the Rd-8 sounds, considering it's emulating the older machine.
Fits much better into all kinds of modern techno, with the exception of hard techno maybe.
Me not paying attention to what I’m opening to watch. “Hello I’m penis head.” Lol
...Then my wife walks in. What the hell are you watching!"
I like rd9 more. It feels more aggressive and dark. I like it
rd-9 italo disco! 🤙🏻💃🕺🏻
Interesting to hear the same patterns through both machines. I thought RD-9 would be next on my list, but I'm realizing the RD-8 might work better. I like the RD-6 a lot, purchased two of them.
The rd8 sounds better for slower hip hop stuff and rd9 for 4 on the floor dance stuff. Same as the originals
RD-8 sounds more versatile to me. Clean and simple - you can add effects on top. RD-9 has a lot more character
Most potent musicgear video's on RUclips
Its an honor for me to get such comments. Thank you.
this was actually more useful to me than the og808/909 comparisons
Get both! I like the RD-9 For the bright OFF HAT an harder Kick Drum. The RD-8 is nice for a cleaner bonus rythym .
People always say "just use samples" (actually I do) and while you can make 'em sound good, they don't sound anything like a real analog analog/digital drum machine hybrid.
Some big differences but RD 9 is the better for me, but rd 8 is good too. Many thanks for this excellent comparison 👍
I prefer the bass drum and claps of the 8, but the 9 has its use cases as well.
Thanks for the comparison, this really helps. I think I'm leaning towards the RD-8.
Thanks :) That was very helpful!
I’ve never owned a drum machine before, I’ve just been sequencer drums in logic. Are you able to add effects to each individual instrument ?
There are for each instruments dedicated outputs on the back. So you can process each sound individual. But effects are not included in the machine.
Thank you. So if I wanted to do that, would I need an interface with as many inputs as there are outputs on the drum machine?
@@jgbpkoolguys better a small 8 channel mixer
Same patterns, but the 9 is swinging hard and the 8 is mostly straight in these examples. Makes for a crazy difference in groove.
That is the only video comparing those two units, good job!!! (But I still can't decide which I want more 😓, probably leaning on the 808)
Thank you! That video really helps!!
I’ve yet to see a video where anyone with RD drum machines uses all the separate outputs. What’s up with that?

@@mareikemacinnes7764 DOPE!!!!
amazing video! May I ask if you have noticed differences in the output level of the two machines? I have both and there is a lot of difference between mine, the rd 8 is about half lower (output level with all the pots at maximum and no accents)
Yes, that’s possible but I do not have the RD9 anymore but the RD8. And my RD8 is one of the first ones and still has the old firmware because I like the rude sound. So possibly the output level was not on my tasklist. But I think you are right.
We like the Sound of the RD-8 more. It's warmer then the Sound of the RD-9 (the same with the TR-808 and TR-909)
Heart says 8, mind says 9.
Thankyou RichHead.
You are welcome hairhead
i like the rd 8 just deeper sounding low end on the bass & more omph to it
No contest. RD-8 rules
Pattern 4 is amazing can you say something about the programming
@@mirko2884 sorry this pattern is just made out of the box for this video. Just standard to view a music style. Nothing well thought.
Thank you for the video
Which one is best for Genesis/Phil Collins covers?
Definitely not the RD-9 the RD-8 has more 80s feeling
No shuffle on the RD-8 ?
Yes I think I had a little bit shuffle on the RD-9 and not on the RD-8. But then it was too late to change. :-)
@@penishead_official Ok thanks
No gooey stuff on the keys, ok? 🙏🏼
The bass is much more pronounced in the 9. The bass also has more delay it seems. In a band scenario, I would choose the 8 for sure. It seems far less intrusive. And would let the other instruments have more room. For more of a techno or hip hop scenario where there really aren't any other instruments, the 9 would probably be better, imho.
You have swing activated on the RD-9 but not on the RD-8..
Really? What a mess! Thats a mistake. Damned!
Really? What a mess! Thats a mistake. Damned!
But I look and i never Touch the swing function on the RD9
@@penishead_official But you can hear it swinging, right?
@@sidefish8362 it is definitely swanging
seems lke the RD9 swing more really weird
The 9 is just so bouncy, the 8 sounds flat but it could be because of swing function not being on for the 8???
It's like the 9 has more delay, especially on the bass drums.
swing is off on the 8
Rd-8 sounds fatter than RD-9 .. it has more analog vibe imo . Definitely the winner for me
For me, too
love them both p!
bold choice
Rd-808 for sure. The 909 is weak sauce. The Rd-8 has so much more resonance most of the time. The Rd-9 does fit a genera though.
Awesome
Thank you
That 909 drum
RD-9 👍
My advice is save your pennies and get the Roland TR8S. Thank You Dick.
Rd9 has more character but rd8 is a bit of a chameleon.
🎶💥🎶💥🎶
I longed for an 808 ever since i saw one hanhihg on the wall in a music shop back in the 80s and what did I do? Buy an RD 9. What the Jesus titty-fucking Christ!?
I will get one though. I hope that Behringer bring out an RD 78 too.
On a side note, does the RD 8 not have swing?
Yes, it has
@@penishead_official thanks for that Mr. Head! I only ask as the patterns on the RD 8 seem to have less swing applied to my ears. Maybe it's because I'm currently listening on phone speakers and they have shitty bass response.
Cheers my dude!
Someone could use a hand(y)….
Harhar
I feel like the rd 8 is like the cool kid that smokes in the breaks and is introverted and the rd 9 is like the adhd kid that's very extroverted
Original yes, profoundly vulgar and dismissable yes.
Hey pene maaan
Would hate to see the state of your ceiling.. like going into a cave at the North Pole.
it´s very stupid to compare them and even more with the same patterns. They are differente enough that one pattern can work well in one and not at all in the other
Yes I know it’s stupid but it was fun to make.
Not stupid. It helps when picking
@@SeshwaChickenKebab if you have to see a comparison video between those machines to pick one you are stupid
Tf
What does that mean?
