Killing her off is probably one of the stupidest things they ever did. I feel like it was a waste of 6 seasons, building up her story arc, giving her the cure for a normal humane life that she wanted only to completely erase it all in one episode. So pointless. She should have gotten her happy ending. This is like Derek Shepherds death from Greys Anatomy all over again.
Worldwideex Well I get it but at the end of the day not everyone gets a happy ending I mean the theme surrounding Elena is death essentially. Her parents who raised her died, Isobel and John died, Jenna died it just came full circle and its sad but is it really unexpected?

No way. McDreamy death was boring, the directing choppy and very underwhelming. It's really insulting how they setup up. You saw no one mourn and pointless side stories. Only redeeming thing about those episodes was Amelia outburst and breakdown. And even that felt stale because you never saw the process that lead to it. Most of it was WTF moments.
This look like a emotional, heartbreaking tribute to Elena from those that love her. It looks beautiful.
The thing is, both Nina Debrov and Patrick Dempsey wants to leave the show, so it wasn't the writer's choice to kill them off. The only choice they have is how they are going to do it. I admit, Derek's death was pretty cruel, but it seems like Elena's will be less cruel.
Chi-Yen Hwang On Grey's Patrick Dempsey wanted to leave and the show had to kil Derek off because he wasn't going to leave Meredith and their kids.So killing Derek off was probably the only way they could write him off.Now as Elena i'm wondering if she doesn't die but everyone believes she did.So maybe in the last scene we see Elena alive somewhere and maybe with Jeremy.
Nina has dedicated 6 years of her acting career on this show but too be totally honest what's another 2-3 years to actually finish it? I mean she's pretty much done 68% of the show already why quit now is what i'm asking. Too be honest i hate it when actors leave tv shows (especially good shows) to do something else because what's the point of starting something new if you don't finish it? Of course this is just my opinion:)
KINZ189 Well... 2 or 3 years is a pretty damn long time to commit to a show that has completely and utterly destroyed your character. Elena exists in relation to Damon, her storyline is ENTIRELY about him - and secondary to him. Nina has had so little room to actually ACT, to play out a character that is probably very close to her heart because the writers desire to reduce her to a love interest WITHIN WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE HER SHOW? Elena is basically a side character. If I was an actor I would pretty disheartened and disappointed at that, particular an actor like Nina who has proven that she is immensely talented. Its a waste and a shame... but seriously entirely the writers' fault idk how anyone could actually blame Nina for her decision.
Nisha Emich I think it's also quite a stretch to call TVD a 'good tv show'. Its certainly still entertaining, but its no way near the calibre of show it was 2 or 3 years ago.
KINZ189 Actually it would only be like 1 more year because its been confirmed season 7 will be the last season lol. So yeah I dont get why shes leaving before the last season, maybe it has to do with Ian, who knows.
because she respected her contract. the show was never going to be more than 6 seasons and she just wanted to dedicate 6 years to do it. the production wanted to keep the show o air but they knew she wasn't going to be more than 6 years. all the rest of the cast renewed contracts but she wasn't going to, just think about it, if she would've decided "ok i'll stay 1 more season" the show would've keep getting renewed because even without her it still getting a season 8, with her maybe it would get even season 10+ and she could never get rid of it xD. they should've ended it in season 6 like the contract said.
@@twistingfate9 elena was her own character. she was important to her own storyline. not just in relation to damon, but to everyone. season 6 was very important to elena’s storyline because it’s her healthiest and happiest season.
they spent 5 seasons trying to keep her alive while killing other characters, and they kill her off in the 6th. This is ridiculous.

***** Yeah, that line makes me think in desperation Damon sucks the Cure out of her to try and give her blood and save her life or something, since her body will reject Vampire blood while she has the Cure in her veins, like when Katherine's hand was cut, and Caroline offered her blood, and she couldn't take it.

What if the promos are just a huge ruse to make us think she dies? They are all Standing over a casket and taking somebody's Hand and going into that person's mind, but it could just as well be Jo, because i am pretty sure that she actually is going to die/is already dead. And the dream sequences with Elena could just be her own thoughts while she is in a coma or something. I find that with all TV Shows, the more a season leads up to it's finale the more misleading the promos get.

She was never the whole point it's always been about the Salvatore brothers especially Stefan. Elena was just the lead female star and besides she died in the book too.

This may owns some but those of you who have sense to read please do. Killing her off makes the nosy sense to me. Why? Probably due to the fact that her leaving Damon or Damon making her leave wouldn't be that logical. So killing her would be in some ways be her going without actually breaking up delena for their fans.

I think part of her being killed off was also a personal choice for Nina Dobrev. Perhaps having to work so intimately with Ian while he's engaged and getting married was making it too difficult for her to heal from the relationship?

I am sure nina is quitting because she wants to pursue something greater in her career but i cant stop thinking about how nina and ian had been together in real life and now hes getting married .
I mean it must be difficult to see someone you dumped or got dumped or mutually dumped eachother everyday , i guess maybe she still loves him and the tough of kissing and acting all lovely with him for another year of her life ,kinda sucks and she wants to move on with her life . Maybe it just me but you can see it in her eyes in the last episodes of tvd .

Well at least they didn't end Delena the way they did on One Tree Hill Brcus. Lucas( Chad Murray) and Brooke (Sophia Bush) were the perfect couple that always came back to each other. But when Chad and Sophia broke up in real life they changed the end game. No one can abide feuding exs. Disrupt production and cost money.
It does seem odd Nina leaving the show. Probably decided around the time Ian got engaged.

No Peyton was a red herring on the true love story. It always came back to Brooke. When they had the four years leap that build Lucas and Brooke up so much. Than that stupid chick he brought with him, and all of a sudden Peyton painting on basketball courts declaring her undying never forgotten love. Totally left field.
Oh my #STELENA feels. But what's the point in killing Elena off? Especially like THIS? She should have taken the cure, moved on for awhile then reunited with Stefan down the road. Or didn't take the cure & just left town. Now S7 is gonna be depressing has hell. I want my #BAMON to happen but not on a sad "he's only with Bonnie bcuz Elena died" type of note. Damn you writers!

I think I can explain everything, Elena is not dead she is in a deep coma Bonny is crying because she is human and won't be alive when she wakes up. Also Caroline is also a vampire so it's ok for her, bacause she will see her again.
I think they will all say goodbye to elena in her head before she dies, and who knows, maybe Nina will appear in season 7, in flashbacks
this is one of the comments about the way Nina is leaving the show: " There was a rumor a while back that Kai would put Elena into a magical coma and the only way Elena could wake up was if Bonnie died. So he'll essentially make Damon choose. They won't kill Bonnie I'm sure and will instead wait the 60 years or until Bonnie dies a natural death." ( It will make sense if you watch promo)

In the contrary - killing her off is the only reasonable way to end her role in the show. Nina said it herself; the show has killed so many characters, and then brought them back, basically making death a sort of joke. If one dies - no one truly grieves. However, she never said that Elena would die, she only pointed out that someone will die and never come back. Yet, the interview was about her leaving the show, so figures. I never liked the character anyway; if killing off Katherine was good enough for them, I don't see a reason why Elena shouldn't suffer the same fate.
Guys, before you get all angry at the writers, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have killed her off without her wanting to leave. She's THE main character. Nina wanted to leave and if she thinks it's for the better then I'm on board. Lots of love for this show
I think Elena is dying and they're all taking her hands and letting her into their thoughts so she can say goodbye so there will be memories and goodbyes between Elena and each cast member. Then she'll talk to Damon about being ready, maybe her somehow takes the cure anyway, trying to save her?

About36GREEKS Nina left the show because of Ian who got married with her ex best friend, so Nina can not be another season acting at the set with someone who is hurting her, if you haven´t realized, the latest episodes of the 6 season elena has been acting strange with damon that's why all those facts occurred to her like she being compel by Ric making her forget about damon.
I think Elena will live but to keep her safe they will make it seem like she died than they will each say there goodbyes to her before Damon plants new memories into her mind so that Elena can move on. So in a way it will be like she died seeing that to keep her safe they can't contact her. I just don't think Julie Plec would kill her off because there is always the possibility that she could talk Nina into coming back when the series is about to ends to give fans closure. She said she had the ending written from season one so there is no way she would easily give that up.

Seriously, Nina Dobrev? You couldn't have waited ONE more season?(While I understand you want to go off and do other things, which is great) But TVD fans put you on the map, and this is how you repay us? Fans have been waiting 6 years for Delena. And THIS is how it's ending? I'm extremely disappointed. As much as some people choose to think this show was Stelena, it never was. It was the story of Damon and Elena. Watching these two change for one another, being each others back bone and keeping one another grounded while having fun and feeling alive. From meeting first, to her hating him, to trusting him, to friendship, to lust, to love. Elena finally found her place as a vampire with Damon and now is human and Damon FINALLY would give up all of that for her. They've grown together. It wasn't supposed to end this way. Why build up a story just to delete it all? I'm a huge fan of TVD, always have, but this is just....disappointing.

I think elena will be put to sleep for 60yrs or so because why would Damon say I'm not ready to spend 60years without you and they could do that in case Nina changes her mind oe they ever want her in as star guess like Jeremy. The funniest thing I thought was about how Tyler's leaving and I was just thinking.. you hardly turn up anyway? In other seasons he's barely there because he was breaking the sire bond, then he came back, then he left again because Klaus was following him and then he came back when he was released from Klaus chasing him only to leave again to get revenge.. what a load of shit. He just kept going in and out constantly.
The writers just could let damon compell her so she forgets about mystic falls and her love and the life she had there... no need of killing her. And I think this would have been a much more emotional ending - damona letting elena go for ever and sending her into a human life with another man, a new family..

Well, after they made Damon sure that hes gonna take the cute the only way out is to kill Elena off. Think about it, Ian is gonna stay for next season, so if he would take the cure he would have to go out of the show as the storyline would be "elena and damon go to have their normal human life"...

Am I the only one who thinks elena will be in coma and in the last episode of season 7 they somehow will bring elena , Damon takes the cure and they have their happy ending ? Or maybe I'm just way optimistic ..... I just think as a smart move they will put Elena's fate into question so the fans will watch next season wondering if elena will comeback from the coma or not. While if they make her dead some fans might no comeback for season 7.
Dont forget it was Nina who wanted to leave the show, hence the killing of her off. So dont blame VD.......Its sad though and Hope she made the right choice
I hardly thought the coffin is for joe, lets be reality damon would not be griefing over joe that much.. He is probably near the coffin because he is thinking about the idea of elena ending up in the coffins.. If elena died n she was in the coffin, damon will have anger n pain his face and alcohol bottle .. In the scene in the promo he looks more in bliss or evaluating something.. Probably thinking in order to make elena live a normal life, away from me as the life with me could lead her to die.. This is what i think

IDEA ALERT: What if Damon drinks the cure from Elena??? That way she wouldn't die from her wounds but from the blood loss. And since the cure was in her system she come back to life and Damon will be human. Therefore giving them their happy ending.
Kelsey Young umm Nina is leaving the show and Damon(Ian) will be in Season 7 so I doubt they would do that because then how would they explain Elena's absence in season 7.
They couldn't really have done anything besides killing her because Damon wouldn't leave her if she was still alive and you can't blame the writers because they HAD to do something with Elena. They can't just make the rest of the cast jobless, when they all signed for more seasons and Nina didn't. I have always shipped Stelena and always preferred human Elena, and I do think it went downhill after season 3/4. Her switching brothers and becoming a vampire was super predictable. But in 6x21 Stefan says " me and Elena were soulmates too". which made me realise Delena has just as much chance of not being true love as Stelena did, so Damon can totally move on. Stelena were technically soul mates as they were doppelgangers though. It's gonna be unrealistic because they had to write out the main character, it saves them having to build a new life for her elsewhere. If they compelled her to leave, they would probably need Nina to return because Damon would obviously check up on her, and Nina no longer want an to be on the show, so they can't. Killing her cuts all ties, so its the best option but I'll miss her :(

If anything, you all could be angry at the writers, for not writing a better end for her. The show is not 'dead' when Nina leaves, because there are some very good actors left!
The writing is what is ridicilous. They made Kai evil again for no reason, he is still merged with Luke, so he wouldn't become evil again. He wrote a letter to Jo while crying, making him kill her now makes no sense at all. If he would want to kill anyone, he would do it to Bonnie, not kill Jo.
The writing is getting worse. (Not to mention how many plot holes there are now in tvd)

JeyBell I actually think the show will get better without her, she was such a block for potential amazing storylines, her and Damon just got in the way.
JeyBell I actually think the show will get better without her, she was such a block for potential amazing storylines, her and Damon just got in the way.
well, I guess my opinion isn't that unpopular after all! XD And I totally agree with jusosa Elena kinda held back everyone not only Damon. Everything is done in fuction of "saving Elena", when originally the Salvatore brothers are the real protagonists (I'm talking about the books.) Did I make sense? English it's not my first language so not sure I was clear... kisses from italy!
The way I see it, Nina made her exit when Katherine died. So I don't get the big deal with Elena being killed off. I hated when they killed off Katherine because she was an interesting character with an interesting story but at the same time I realized that her story had come to an end. Elena, however, is a dull character with little to no story. Anyway, none of the characters are the heart of the show for me. Drama is. As long as TVD has a good storyline I'll keep watching. They can change the entire cast for all I care.

I don't get why they can't give Elena her happy ending and move on with some Staroline story lines or whatever. But killing her off might be the dumbest thing EVER. This show was created around this character and since we know that Nina is leaving for good - so Elena won't come back - killing Elena is just stupid.

I hate to comment on trailers, because u just never know how true the spoiler is, but in my opinion, I think its better that Elena dies. It makes sense to let Damon live knowimg that she is dead so he can really move on after mourning her than to live knowing she is alive and he can never be with her. Knowing she is out there living her life without him would be torture for Damon. The writers made the best decision. Nina Dobrev wanted her storyline to be over. Why have her alive, leaving room for her to return when its not what she wants? The show has another season. They need now, to focus on the other characters future and not continue to make the show about what happens to Damon and Elena. Their story is over. Lets move on people! #TVD
Tbh elena going away would not be a bad thing, we get to have bad boy ass hole damon back n a possible of bonny n damon, which would make the season interesting, in terms of how they might fall for each other or the chemistry development between them too...

The people that are like "I'm never watching the show again after this season because it would a a terrible sendoff and waste of a season.." Yeah right. You'll come right back, whining in the next season about how shit it is. What's the point?
If she dies, wow! It's like real life, not everyone gets the ending they deserve. People that are amazing, die every single day in bad ways. It's usually the way of being a hero/heroine, you get a taste of what you want most and then it's snatched away.
Personally I think sending her away is ridiculous. She would NEVER be safe. Supernaturals would find out that she took the cure, find her then drain her of her blood for the cure and most likely kill her after. And are we forgetting she's a doppleganger that gets used for so many spells? You're telling me just cos she got the cure and has been compelled to leave that everyone ever will forget that? She'd never be safe, therefore it's complete bullshit tbh.
I don't mind whatever ending. Both will be as tragic as the other to lose such a big part of the show but either way we get to say goodbye. Whether she dies or gets the happy ending she deserves, someone will whine so just enjoy the show for what it is.
Technically guys she dies in the books.. But comes back later... honestly it was a better end game between her and Kathrine in the book... was hoping they'd hold to it a bit since it was epic. So i was kinda disappointed by Kathrine's end... But her dying sucks.. just saying we have lived through it before. THose of us who read the books anyways.
Prediction: Elena dies, damon still takes the cures because he doesn't want to spend eternity without Elena. Caroline and Stefan start dating (because life is too shorts - Elena's death proves it). Next season Damon and Bonnie start dating
r0xy26 I think his line about 60 years mean he is taking the cure too, but I think he does it because he is trying to be able to use vampire blood to save Elena. I just think it's stupid if the writers go with the idea that most people seem to be saying "that elena is in a coma or a sleep spell and can only wake up when Bonnie dies."

you all the show is not about Elena in the first place its about the life of Salvatore Brothers.. yeah the ending is sad But Nina Dobrove is the one who want to leave the show..most shows end the life of a character when the actor want to leave the show,, and others just let them move away or get lost..

Yay! Bye Elena! Her character and love triangle was seriously DONE. I was happy when they retired Catherine's character and happy to see Elena go. Most interested to see what future VD has without the crutch that is Elena.

Myles Steve defenitley!!! when they played wings in 5x22 it was so perfect!!! and skinny love during John and Jenna's funeral when you hear the voiceover of his letter!! If elena does dies and isn't in the magic coma or whatever everyone thinks is happenening then a great song to play would be Not about angels!

holy shit please let next season actually be about damon trying to reconcile his existence as human without elena (and that 60 year line being an indication that he has taken the cure - not some ludicrous bizarre sleeping beauty bullshit cause LITERALLY WHO WANTS TO WATCH A SEASON WITH A CAHRACTER WHOSE WHOLE EXISTENCE IS ABOUT WAITING 60 YEARS FOR SOMEONE!???!) and Bonnie helping on that journey. Stefan having to deal with the possibility of eternity without his brother. Actual characterisation that is to do with individual journey's and connections and not embarrassingly dull obsessions with shipping.
