We hade a Maxxum 5140 on a farm i work on it hade 32000 hours on it and still going strong. Gearbox hade a rebuild or 2 but the cummins was still original :)
The Ford tractor range of the 90s' can trace it's ancestry back to 1965 but they updated and enhanced their ranges constantly which made them good performers and great value.
It was an amazingly good tractor considering it was planned from a scratch. One of the better vintage tractors along with 6000 and 6010 John Deeres. Deere is quieter but turning radius is close to that of a 747.
I actually like the Maxxum series, but why do they compare a brand new Maxxum with an over 15 year older Ford "design". The 40 Series from 1992 are even better in cab design, gearbox and maintenance.
Yes they are my dad bought a 7740 he bought new an is still are main farm tractor has over 16 thousand hours and other than a altenator it's never had a thing done to it an it's been run yo hell an back .the only reason Ford went out is plain an simple they put theirselfs out of business building tractors that run forever
We've had a 5140, a 5150 & a 5240 MFD. Very Reliable tractors sans the poor design of a parking brake. If someone forgot it was engaged you can hang it up. then using chucks or lowering implements become the norm.
We have a 2000 maxxum 120 On the loader for loading hay trucks with a partial power shift and a hydraulic clutch You can run that thing for a 15 hours strait with out getting a tried foot (back and forth)
I remember video from when I was a kid...must have been the 7100 series...and had to be a half hour long...it had testimonials from farmers from the US and Canada...and used some classical music in the beginning and throughout the video...wish I could find it here on RUclips!!!
Must be a green fanatic well that gives me more options on the used case stuff nothing like buying a tractor and fixing it when it breaks. We all know if it's green and breaks mother deere has to come or it won't run
I guess it really depends on your budget and farming situation that determines which tractor you buy. The Ford is cheaper for sure, but the Case IH seems to have more features, convenience and comfort. As for the reliability and mechanics, I can't say because I've never driven either of these tractors.
the maxxum engine is better for sure, the froward and reverse shuttle is a great idea, but the thing is having driven a 7710 and a maxxum i'd choose the ford any day, because in the ford you feel as if you could driving though a ally way with 1 inch space ether side and full speed, and in the maxxum feel like the front wheels are connected with rope. the ford has better visibility were it matters in tight gateways and yards, that gives you a sense of control
I owned a Ford 7710 series II (and many other Ford Blue models) and it was flawless. I currently own a larger but older IH 1086. Not the same series as described here, but I can say the 86 is an outright nightmare to shift and it rides like a brick. Additionally, you could remove all panels on the Ford by hand for quick servicing. Takes almost 10 minutes with a socket on one side and a wrench on the other with my IH ( if you hold your mouth just right). Again, not a truly accurate comparison with the model described here, but I've owned both red and blue and overall I had better luck, more comfort, and less of a pain in the a#% with blue.
wow we had a 197? ford 7000 with dual power yes we had to stop for ranges but not for the dual power or shifting .......i love how companies try to show how bad the other guys is and lies right threw the whole thing
wow, competitive comparison 5130maxxum year1990 and ford 7710 year1988 why? why not ford 7810 mk3 year1990, its small tractor with big tractor features. well i think that case wanted to be clever with the cantilevermount design but actually it makes the tractor much heavier case5130 weights 5000kg and ford 7710 only 4090kg so the real list of fords would be 7610mk3 7810mk3 and 8210mk3 ford8630 because the powershift
Claro... el Case Internacional es mas completo que el Ford, mas tecnologia incorporada, pero el tractor Ford simplemente fue una marca de prestigio internacional en todo el mundo.
Drove a Ford New Holland and it was a good tractor but the best tractor I ever drove was A 5230 Maxxum and the funny part is that one of the worst tractors I ever drove was a 5220 . That thing was broken down all the time.
i just deliver my 5140 to the scrapyard after 9000 mth because of the roost and hydaulic pump , powershift damagebut the engine still runs like new ! very good tractor to packing the sileage but shitty view to the back small windows etc. and this stupid exhaust pipe can make your eyes crossing after few hours of driving
Case was heavy and had 6 cyl or Ford 4 cyl. Case three point hitch pick up more. Case Loader was stronger. Case IH was better over all. Case cab was better. Case would put pull the Ford. Case was the King over Ford easy
sstroh08 although the part where they say you have to stop to shift is false, you just have to know how to shift at the proper time and know how to double clutch to down shift
Now that these tractors are within my budget, this is actually relevant to me now.
same here .......
Bruh same
Yeah, lol.
This didn’t age well
Try and buy one Now..!!!.... They're mad money.
Back when manufacturers cared and talked about RELIABILITY.
That IH we bought new in 1977 certainly couldn't be called "Reliable" 😡
What was it a 66 or 86 series, or something else

thx 4 info👍
Now we're talking. Today's tractors will never make half the time.
So how many hours did it work without revision?

And now they’re both one company and are both Fix It Again Tony’s
Must be a green fanatic well that gives me more options on the used case stuff nothing like buying a tractor and fixing it when it breaks. We all know if it's green and breaks mother deere has to come or it won't run
I'd still rather own and operate a Ford
A lot of differences and today only difference is the color.
I didn't purchase either 😕 I chose a Case international 956 XL one of the last built ones brilliant tractor.
Love these videos. Hail nostalgia!!
Who'd of known they'd end up the same company 😅
A real salesman

Case is a good tractor but why is the cab so small... Like the Cummins engine but the price of replacement hydraulic pump is crazy
Case's old cabs always seem inferior to me, only until the 21st century did they figure it out
nice video. i really like te brand new ford tractors☺
Thanks for sharing, great to watch this.
the video is from 1990. The 40 series was not launched yet.

and the ford 8830 and de ford newhollan 8870A whit the power shift are stil beter than any case in the world
top of the pop vintage brands. Ford, John Deere. Ferguson and Case, those where the days ;-)
say what they want, id still take that 7710 first!

Few lead Many follow, great tractors.
Buddy is lying like a rug about the Ford speed transmission.. we bought a new TW5 for the same price as a 5140 or less. Go Ford

Total irony is that they’re now all one.
5130 series cab is not that great
The large overhang on the rear was a pain and the wings rotted like mad
Drove a Ford New Holland and it was a good tractor but the best tractor I ever drove was A 5230 Maxxum and the funny part is that one of the worst tractors I ever drove was a 5220 . That thing was broken down all the time.
Ford for life
all owned by fiat now, or CNH as their called now
Yep stupid fiat has been very clever,
aw shit! i never knew cnh was apart fiat!!! fiats fall apart!

Ford/newholland 10/40 series has 40/50kph transmission
this guy doesn't now what he's saying about the ford 7710. you really don't have to stop a ford 7710 to shift.

in my area no one gets ride of there maxxum fords are always for sale
If case are so much better why are there more fords still around and more fords sold.
I live in midwest, many more fords, only a few ih around
More Ford in Finland.
There are tons of these old maxxums still here in Canada and the only old fords that I see are for salvage...
