LOOOOOVE the video... Working for Eric Javits for 9 years I thought I knew it all about hat making!!!! I WAS WRONG!!!!! I really enjoy this video!!!!!!! Brought me back good memories about hat making. THANKS A LOT!
Great video! Can anyone tell me the model number of the Singer bar tack sewing machine she's using to join the brim binding ends together? I have to have one of those!
great video. I am interested in the last hat you showed on this video. It is the light gray stingy brim with the black ribbon hat band. Do you have a catalog number?
I can't find that hat anywhere. I wanted to see it. I was wondering if you Can send me a link to a photo of it and where I might find it? If it's not to much trouble or anyone reading this👍Thanks guys 👍👍
Wow! I had no idea so much was involved in making the wool for hats. I like hats. I will appreciate them a lot more now. Thanks for the video and being a great company.
My mother bought me a black Doeskin Bollman hat with flowers on the front when I was 8 years old. I'm 28 yrs old now and I still have my hat and it's in great condition. I'm glad I decided to look into the craftsmanship of my hat. Very informative video!
Great tour! I presently own the Bollman 140th anniversary series bowler(interesting it was referred to as a derby in the video,I'm aware of the historical difference in names yet Bollman does use the bowler moniker),homburg & topper. They are amazing hats & the quality is the best. Thank you for the amazing American made products😀I also own several Bailys hats as well and they are great quality for the cost.
Enjoyed the tour verymuch. Have just started wool felting and was extremely impressed by your company and beautiful products. The processes the wool went through and so much hands on to detail explains the quality and longevity of your business. It was good to know that the hardships of the business have only made you more determined and more deeply rooted in American business. Congratulations!
Very long but wonderful video! I had no idea it took all those processes to produce a hat. I came across this video in researching the Adamstown area where we'll be staying for a few days. I'll be looking for the "American Made Matters" label when buying future hats and I'll never look at a hat the same again. The CEO did a wonderful job narrating this video.
Rabbit and the rarer Beaver Felts costs are significantly higher to manufacture. The Production Process is similar to Wool Felt which is better when processed into "Lite Felt" Wool. It depends on the Manufacturer also for the Price Point to sell the Hats.
@@jameskann951 Thanks for your reply. It seems that fur felt hats are out of style (except for western wear) and one of the reasons is the shops that cleaned and blocked them are mostly gone. too bad, because a broad brim adds a lot of "class" to a man's appearance.
@@DrewH789 Fur Felt Hats are still selling especially the Artists who make them by Hand. People still want dressy Hats it's paying for them that curbs that idea.
I absolutely loved that tour, i had no idea of how much hands on processing was involved in making the coolest hats in the world. What an awesome family of workers and what great skills they bring to the final product, I wish them all the luck in the world, and if i get a chance to own one of their hats, i will certainly appreciate the quality and tradition that comes with owning one of their great products.
GREAT VIDEO!!!! More information in it than ALL of the other videos I've watched ( seems like thousands of them , but , in reality more likely just several hundred ) !!!! BTW that hat You were wearing really looked great on You !!!!
I love the look of your " Roy " hat ! It's the ultimate " Good Guy " hat !!!! It looks like You're going forty mph. ( even if You're sitting still ) !!!! Please don't stop making it !!!!
Most excellent tour...I watched this presentation shortly after buying one of your companies hats...I was informed of this presentation by a very nice young lady that works for Hats.com...'Jessi' assisted me in the purchase of one of the Bollmans Heritage collection hats...the '1911 campaign' style hat. Congratulations on your 152 years of service...I salute..and I'm damn proud to know of an American company that is an 'icon' to the USA that has survived all these years...Keep up the GOOD work!
My hat's off to CEO Rongione, he obviously knows his business. I was impressed by how much 'hand labor' was involved. I was impressed with the promotion of "American Made Matters", which I had never heard of. This is a seven year old video, I wish good health to Rongione and all his hard working Hatters!
Fantastic tour and explanation. Thank you for sharing. More of these tours of American manufacturing should be made as easy and pleasant to view and comprehend. Also, Bollman Hat Company comes across as an excellent company and that clearly starts at the top.
"This hat here was the indiana jones hat" Ummm... the Indy hats were made by Herbert Johnson, apart from the fourth film in which the hat was made by a fan company called Adventurebilt. Maybe that was a licenced hat, but even then I'm pretty sure the licensing rights for indy's hat belong to dorfman pacific and before them, stetson. To my knowledge the bollman hat company has never made an official Indy hat of any kind.
I am now certain that if I follow like 3 of these steps, I can make a pretty half-bad hat that is good enough for me. I don't even wear hats. Mostly because I don't want to invest in one, and I have too big of a head for the one size fits all hats. (I'm the kind of person that have to make at least one of anything I CAN make)

Awe-inspiring. I just happened to run across this vid and it made my day!
How can you put a price on the enormous effort to create a product and have it affordable? Pure craftsmanship! These hats should cost thousands!
Great video! Can anyone tell me the model number of the Singer bar tack sewing machine she's using to join the brim binding ends together? I have to have one of those!
I would like to learn how to make beaver felt hats, any schools you can recommend?
Amazing video, but 1 hour of listening to a grown man who sounds like he's going through puberty is a little too much. Drink some water please.
great video. I am interested in the last hat you showed on this video. It is the light gray stingy brim with the black ribbon hat band. Do you have a catalog number?
Awesome video!
I want to Buy an American made hat made by an employee owned company.

By the look of this operation, the workers need a good Union or they are working under a shit Union...can you say minimum wage?
European ingenuity.
We truly are the mothers of invention.

Such mind-numbing employment... a full day of doing the same thing hundreds of times...then repeat the day after and the week after that!
I am buying only American made!
Really enjoyed your tour! Fascinating insight on how you manufacture hats. Thank you very much. Kind wishes. Kath
At 3:12 The green hat. Yeah, I'm in love with that hat.
The Indiana Jones hat does not look like that.
Seems black is the top color choice ...

Bollman produced the hat for Dorfman before they took it to China.
Bellman has made many Hats for Movies!
I did notice that a lot of the machines were not in use
