Oh dude this was my suggestion!!! Thanks man. I love how designers really tried to push the boundaries with such minimal hardware. This is a great list thanks again. Btw have you by chance mentioned Sutte Hakkun in any videos?
Sutte Hakkun was mentioned in a English-friendly SFC Games video, not sure which off the top of my head, probably part 4 or 5. That will get its own video someday
Cool, thanks I'll check that out again. Have you done a multiplayer puzzle game based compilation? You mention Pieces a lot (my wife and I play this like crazy) and I believe you've mentioned Super Tetris 3 but then there are ones like Rampart, Lost Vikings, or Goof Troop. I have a newborn and these are the kind of games (especially Goof Troop) I really want to play with her when she gets a controller in her hand. What are your thoughts? Thanks.
Static single screen puzzle games like Super Tetris 3, Wario's Woods or Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine for Genesis are definitely the easiest for little kids to get into. That or stuff like Mario Paint. I'd also suggest Kirby Super Star
snes drunk. Thanks for the suggestions. My daughter is 2 and shes starting to pick up the controller when she sees me play. I think I will try a puzzle game for her
Rodrigo Dlugokenski Thanks for the suggestion, that sounds fun. I didn't think it'd be possible to play in potentially just two years but that's great! And what kind of tablet multiplayer games do you play with her?
One of the first "hybrid" games I remember loving as a kid was The Guardian Legend. The combination of overhead shooter and Zelda-style action/adventure worked really well together.
Randy Miller III I was just saying "too bad this isn't a video about NES game's" because of that game, definitely one of the best NES game's of all time.
OMG, I remember hearing about Dazaemon in EGM way back in the day and thought it was absolutely exciting of an idea... and then nothing. Even worse it wasn't until today until I was finally reminded of it.... out for that English patch my friend.
Wonder project J and Wonder Project J2: Corlo no Mori no Josette are both rely unique game but yet kind of fun and honestly a good experience to play even with their flaws.
Wonder Project J has the best SNES sprite work And background work I’ve ever seen, I think. If anyone has something that can rival it, I’d love to hear about it!
The amount of work that you do is amazing. I'm really glad that I discoverd your channel out of nowhere. Keep up the good work. I personally would love it if you could do a review of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, or RPG games that are considered really easy to play.
I remember seeing a feature in a magazine about Wonder Project J and realizing how crazy games could be! I think it was EGM or Nintendo Power, either way this was a great video!
AquaDump Entertainment False. It's a charmingly absurd, industry-standard WRPG with casual gameplay and great music. Give Drakkhen a try. People who say it's too esoteric have the attention span of a goldfish.
It's not that it's just esoteric; it's also clunky and unintuitive. It's tedious and lacks any sort of fun factor. I tried playing it when I was 16-17, when I had all the time and patience in the world. I give it a fair chance; it just sucked.
AquaDump Entertainment It may be clunky, but the gameplay has a lot going for it! In real time, the battles allow the player to take control of each fighter by controlling distance (safety vs attack range), and action assigning (weapons, healing, other magic). Plus castles require light thinking and observation. No, the game is intuitive. For example, running from battle or drowning prevention requires frantic tapping of the shoulder buttons, because those are emergencies. Likewise, the UI is controlled how you would guess: A and B buttons and arrow keys to select. Pausing simultaneously opens the map. You know what else this game does well? Pacing. It's not afraid to have slow exploration moments to contrast the action.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video! For years, I've been trying to find a game I had played more than 20 years ago, and since it was all Japanese, I didn't even know its name, all I had to go by was it was a dialogue-heavy, open world beat-em up. With trains.' And somehow, that wasn't enough for a solid google. But now I know it was actually Shodai Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun, the prequel to Kunio-tachi no Banka, and my mind is finally at ease!
A heads up for anyone enjoying Wonder Project J,the second game in the series recently got a translation as well. The old series of "Creatures" pc games might also be worth a look since they operate on a very similar gamestyle(albeit less story driven).
I didn't knew about Wonder Project J,,, the concept has so much potential, if they made any kind of battle system like turn based or smth it would have added some spice, or a story with endings that changes if u raise the robot kid differently aaaa or a sims like stuff idk people in fandoms would have loved it :'( i'll try it
Great list! I really want to get Wonder Project J and Dezaemon... Both look rad. If you ever think about doing a part two, of this discussion, I would suggest Imperium on SNES. An overhead shoot em up, with RPG elements... The more enemies you destroy, the more you can upgrade your weapons. I actually reviewed that game on my channel! Great video, once again man, always killer stuff!
Good video! I've never seen most of the games in this video with the exception of the ones that were featured in your previous video and Project J. Wanna try out the the Shoot em up and the Kunio Kun now!
You made a big omission on this list: Bishin Densetsu Zoku - The Legend of Bishin its a hybrid between a beatn up and a racing game (more specific a battle racing game). That even have some kind of free map to explore with your car. Your star the game on your car and have to get to the starting line before the times runs out. The the race will begin. Every time you are throw out of the car or you make you rival crash, enters a beatn up "stage".
Love your videos man!! Found so many great games I've never played cause of you. Been enjoying the shit out of front mission series. And the area 88 or the UN as they call it here. Thanks man
SNES Drunk would be great to see a video with the best indie game titles realesed on the SNES. I mean nowadays indie games are getting quite popular, especially since the PS4 has been realesed. And besides that great video! Thumbs up and greetings from Switzerland.
*Maybe I should go back to bed, skip getting up for my college class today.* Wait brain, there may be a new SNESdrunk episode out today.... GET OUT OF BED!
At that time (December 2013), I was getting comments asking me, "Are you ever going to do a negative review for once?" So I went overboard on SoE, dumb idea
I'm almost certain I saw Dezaemon featured in Nintendo Power. I remember there being a shooter game that let you design your own ship, pixel-by-pixel. Never heard from the game since and I could never remember what it was called. Thanks!
One great genre-busting videogames that hardly anybody knows about: Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures. Think of this as an interactive version of them classic “Duck Amuck” cartoon, just wonderfully inspired, highly unique, supremely funny.
S.O.S is more of an adventure game than a platformer, which straight adventure(not action-adventure, like Zelda) was a genre that's pretty rare on the SNES.
If you liked the Wonder Project game then you should try out Pacman 2 and that Snoopy Super Famicom game. Those games are also kind of point and click games where you don't take control directly but have to give the character directions.
As a kid I saw Wonder Project J in a magazine and I really wanted to play it for some reason. I thought that the famicom to snes adapters somehow translated the text to english. Good thing my mom said hell no to importing some japanese game when I asked. heh.
Oh yeah, Dezaemon I was way into it, I spent nealy a year making my own shooter, really pushing the engine. I actually think it was a pretty decent shooter, then the save batter died...
Oh God, I rented Wonder Project J2 for N64 some 25 years ago and obviously couldn't understand a thing. Actually I had completely forgotten about it and didn't even know it was a sequel until stumbling upon this video and Googling the name because I was certain that the main character was a girl when I played it ages ago, haha!
since the way it's presented here it's not really clear, the game included in Dezaemon isn't really it's main function and is intended as more of a demo of what you can do with it. It's intended to be a shmup construction kit for you to make your own levels and games with.
That last game kind of reminds me of the PacMan game for SNES where he kind of does his own thing, has temper tantrums, etc. and you don't really control him directly... Maybe those two are the same genre... Whatever that would be...
I wonder... would Super Godzilla be considered crossing genres? You have the main game where you control Godzilla and rampage around the countryside and then you fight various monsters and aliens in their UFOs in a very weird battle system.
I would really like to play some of these Japanese games, but I only speak German and English. As far as I know, it's illegal to download Roms in order to download the English version, but SNES Drunk mentioned it in this video. I won't download illegal stuff. So is there a legal way to play these Japanese games in English or even better in German? Or are these Rom Hacks in other languages legal?
There's several ways to use the official imported games and hardware while patching the fan translation in, I've seen some real sfc carts with a data chip replaced with one that has the translation on it or modified with extra data for the fan patch. Certain devices like Retron V and Super UFO Pro can also do this, you'll need to look into that yourself, and I think you would still have to download the patches but not the actual roms, I recall Super Derek has a video about it.

Awesome video Alex. Glad to see Wonder Project J made the cut. Also, you were great on Classic Gaming Podcast!
Thanks
OMG, I remember hearing about Dazaemon in EGM way back in the day and thought it was absolutely exciting of an idea... and then nothing. Even worse it wasn't until today until I was finally reminded of it.... out for that English patch my friend.
I want to play Dazaemon for that music creator mode. Didn't know other games besides Mario Paint did that.
So do I!
Console Wars, very nice comment.
I heavily rec getting it on PSN, it's only a few bucks
Best way to play would be through emulation, I imagine, as creators could actually collaborate or trade custom levels.
Yeah I wanna break off the pegs in My SNES so I can order that game a plug it in. I feel like I would crack out on the music Feature
Wonder project J and Wonder Project J2: Corlo no Mori no Josette are both rely unique game but yet kind of fun and honestly a good experience to play even with their flaws.
3:07 "Sir Drunk"
"...when he tries to eat his cat" *Sold!* 😹
Thank you for putting part 1 in the descriptions.

Another great video! Each time i see your game recommendations i learn of titles i didnt know about.
Watching SNES drunk during Hurricane Irma. Love you guys.
Funky Buttlovin Stay safe
I was watching right after a tornado warning... lol
There's a funny irony of the Bible-Belt getting hit by all these natural disasters.
How was that hurricane?
Juan Rodriguez It was Lame
I remember seeing a feature in a magazine about Wonder Project J and realizing how crazy games could be! I think it was EGM or Nintendo Power, either way this was a great video!
Every time you talk about Dragon View it makes me want it more. Gotta track that down
Just don't get Drakkhen. It's a turd wrapped in a turd.
I already have it, got it for cheap from a goodwill (i think $3?)

Glad to see my patreon request getting some more coverage. SOS may not be for everyone, but it's definitely unique!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video! Great video! Dezaemon looks life it would be a fun romp.
One of these days I'll get around to playing some of these games I missed out on. Great channel!
Thanks for watching
I didn't knew about Wonder Project J,,, the concept has so much potential, if they made any kind of battle system like turn based or smth it would have added some spice, or a story with endings that changes if u raise the robot kid differently aaaa or a sims like stuff idk people in fandoms would have loved it :'( i'll try it
wonder project J looks so interesting, will try it.

Thanks to that "particular person", this video idea was awesome and awesomely executed - SnesDrunk, you are my hero!
watched this whole series of videos, and there are some great games ive never heard of in here. keep up the good work.
That's one super great and original video right here ! :D Thanks again !
Thank you for creating such well put together / unique content! Really enjoying!
Dr. Geppetto? They didn't even try to pretend they came up with the idea on their own. Unless that's just a funny choice made by the translator.
All I have to say about Wonder Project J is "FUCKING DON'T EAT IT"
Heard the music you created on dezeamon you got real talent kid. I’m going to make you a star!
I don't if this would fit the video but Shadowrun is very unique among RPGs on the SNES
it's nice when you end your videos wishing me a great day!
Loved this vid. Thanks a ton bud. I have several more 16 bit games to play for winter.
I've played ActRaiser and Wonder Project J and I can say both are amazing.
This was my suggestion. Thanks bro!
Good video! I've never seen most of the games in this video with the exception of the ones that were featured in your previous video and Project J. Wanna try out the the Shoot em up and the Kunio Kun now!

Great call, but that one would really benefit from an English patch
SNES drunk for sure, hope we get one.
Great idea! I'd like to see more videos like this
Love your videos man!!
Banka Looks so interesting, i'll check it rigth now.
*Maybe I should go back to bed, skip getting up for my college class today.* Wait brain, there may be a new SNESdrunk episode out today.... GET OUT OF BED!
I'm watching this in bed still... At 4:00 PM. XD
SNESDrunk if you were to re-do a review of ANY game that your opinion of has changed since the original review what game[s] would those be?
In other words what games would you re-review?
Secret of Evermore video is trash, haven't changed my opinion of it that much but it was just a poorly made video
SNES drunk Yeah that was NOT your finest work No offense
Btw Secret of Evermore confused the fuck outta me!
At that time (December 2013), I was getting comments asking me, "Are you ever going to do a negative review for once?" So I went overboard on SoE, dumb idea
What an awesome video.
way way underrated channel, just discovered it
The SFC back catalog mine continues to produce gems! I guess if someone took the time to translate a game it’s at least a worthwhile play.
I had Dazeomon for PS1 and you could save your games on a memory card. It was quite good for that too.
"Like when he tries to eat the cat"
Bet game ever
All these games look really fun
Excellent video.
Nice video, thank you Sir Drunk!
Actraiser was simply stunning all round.
Wonder Project J looks amazing!!!!
(whishpering: "Equinoooox... we want a videoooo.....") ;)
This list could've used some Ogre Battle!!!!!!!!
Every list could use some Ogre Battle.
Human Entertainment was way ahead of its time. Mizzurna Falls (PS1) in many ways superior to Life is Strange.
i never heard of it even though PS1 is my era,i should check it out, thanks:)
Well thanks for that
S.O.S is more of an adventure game than a platformer, which straight adventure(not action-adventure, like Zelda) was a genre that's pretty rare on the SNES.
great video!
I think Live a Live is a must in this list. That is one hell of a weird and great game.
SUBSCRIBED... excellent video i actually learned some new things.
I hate it when kids try to eat the cat.
It really got me when it said that the boy would eat a cat XD
If you liked the Wonder Project game then you should try out Pacman 2 and that Snoopy Super Famicom game. Those games are also kind of point and click games where you don't take control directly but have to give the character directions.
Just here to comment that yt subtitles interprted "snes drunk" as "nice truck".
As a kid I saw Wonder Project J in a magazine and I really wanted to play it for some reason. I thought that the famicom to snes adapters somehow translated the text to english. Good thing my mom said hell no to importing some japanese game when I asked. heh.
Me too! Saw a preview for it in a Nintendo Power from 1996!
ActRaiser was fantastic.. I wish they would have followed the same formula with its sequel.
Oh yeah, Dezaemon
I was way into it, I spent nealy a year making my own shooter, really pushing the engine. I actually think it was a pretty decent shooter, then the save batter died...
Dezaemon have a version on NES, so it isnt that inovative but still a lot impresive.
I hit play and then spam the "0" key at alternating intervals. I'm sure the video is good too, I'll get to it eventually
Man I really need and want that modded Mini SNES classic from Etsy that brings all the 700+ games ever made for the SNES
Wonder Project J looks like a very ambitious game.
I remember renting king of dragons for the Super Nintendo back in the day... man oh man I was stuck on that game lol!!!
Dezaemon gave me an idea for another video - SNES games with editors.
I would suggest "Super Ninja Boy" on Snes Rpg but the battles are beatem ups
since the way it's presented here it's not really clear, the game included in Dezaemon isn't really it's main function and is intended as more of a demo of what you can do with it. It's intended to be a shmup construction kit for you to make your own levels and games with.
You can block in king of dragons too
I can definitely vouch for how weird Wonder Project J was. I tried to play that a couple of times and just couldn't get into it.
Enjoy the rest of your day
That last game kind of reminds me of the PacMan game for SNES where he kind of does his own thing, has temper tantrums, etc. and you don't really control him directly... Maybe those two are the same genre... Whatever that would be...
Hey snesdrunk can you do desert strike for snes or fataal labyrinth for sega?
SOS- the masterpiece that no one ever played.
I think you can play Patched roms on the SNES flashcart
Any plans for a river city random video
Is there a translation of dezaemon?
Friggin' Pino tries to eat the cat and you gotta crack him on the skull so he spits it out. Go play Wonder Project J.
hey SNESdrunk , Tell me which is better in terms of RPG gameplay according to you - Terranigma (snes) or DragonView/Super Drakken ?
......love.
Depends on what you mean by RPG gameplay. Terranigma is the better game overall because of the story.
ok...thanks 4 da response .
That Wonder Project game reminds me of Pac-Man 2.
5:45 Is Seaman a genre?
i cant find the rom for star fox 2 can you helpme tnx
I wonder... would Super Godzilla be considered crossing genres? You have the main game where you control Godzilla and rampage around the countryside and then you fight various monsters and aliens in their UFOs in a very weird battle system.

Wonder Project J is totally a virtual pet...Tamagotchi that shit! }:-D>
Can hoyu make a video of legend of mana for ps1 ?
Was expecting to see Mario rpg, I suppose that's more wrong genre than broken genre, MegaMan legends for ps was one of my favs
How about Uniralley?
Child raising sim is a pretty common genre in japan
Luv the snes my favorite console
Zero4champ is a weird multi genre game.
