I feel like this song is a re-introduction for her into the pop music space. A safe pop song with a catchy hook with the return to her classic look after the ridicule of the public during her last few music eras. Is it groundbreaking? no. But its a fun song, interested to see if the next single or the album will have more depth or will continue to be surface level pop, hopefully the first option lol

I feel like it fails at both things it’s trying to do. It doesn’t work as a diamond tier infectious pop song because the melody in the verses as well as the chorus doesn’t stand out, the beat is pretty standard cookie cutter electro pop, and while the vocals are strong they lack the tongue in cheek charisma of some of her best songs. It also doesn’t work as so,e kind of feminist torch song because the lyrics are too vague to be especially relevant to the era of feminism we are in. There is no intersectional framing or any mentioning of specific oppressions specific to our time so it comes off as hollow. The video was cute but nothing stand out in her music video catalogue. I hope she has something stronger in the tuck cause this just doesn’t stand out in the modern pop landscape or her own catalogue.
