In desperation, as an agnostic, I made a prayer, that was answered, which was followed by many ‘coincidences’ that had me reevaluating my skepticism. It caused me to begin reading the Bible again and making my own conclusions about what it says to be as objective as possible but the Shroud of Turin is what had me really believing that evidence actually exists of the resurrected Christ.

Same here!! The Shroud, and also the chariot wheels of ancient Pharaohs army discovered at the bottom of the _middle_ of the Red Sea, and the balls of pure sulphur (more pure than anywhere else on earth) discovered at the sites that best fit the locations of Sodom and Gomorrah, etc., etc., etc... God doesn't inspire His word to be recorded without the archaeological proof to back it up. It's just taken time for us here on earth to discover it! 🙏☺️

I'm a PhD level Physicist that spent a career as an expert in how ionizing radiation interacts with materials and I developed ionizing radiation detectors for measuring nuclear weapons. I also developed radiation detectors for MEDICAL Cancer Therapy.
I first saw THE SHROUD of TURIN images as a early teenager. My Catholic best friend brought home the images from Catholic summer school and I was fascinated with the images. Even then I knew this image was profound!
After a 34 year career retirement from NATIONAL LABORATORY RESEARCH SCIENCE, I had the opportunity to teach Science classes at a small Christian High school. I couldn't help but notice the increased interest in the SHROUD the last several years, so I became reintroduced to the SHROUD and I began to study the 1978 STURP results and all the recent research and studies on the SHROUD.
If you look at the SHROUD IMAGE itself, the fact it is similiar negative image like an XRAY, that intrigued me. Next I studied the DEPTH of penetration of the darkening of the SHROUD fibers and I determined the image itself only penetrates 50 - 200 NANOMETERS into the topmost microfibers! This is equivalent to dividing a human hair into 1000 equal parts, so the image is EXTREMELY SUPERFICIAL!! The only way to make such a superficial darkening of cloth fibers, REQUIRES access to a high energy particle accelerator. Particle accelerators were only created in the 1970s to 1980s!! This FACT ALONE means that IF the SHROUD is a FAKE, you would need modern day technology to make this type of linen darkening!! Paint or pigments were not found in the many tests on the SHROUD and besides if you PAINTED the SHROUD image, this causes the paint or pigment to wick into (absorb into) many of the burial linen fibers and the DEPTH of penetration would be quite deeper, and therefore as an EXPERT in IONIZING RADIATION DETECTION I can say DEFINITELY the SHROUD is AUTHENTIC!!
Jesus was crucified, died, and was RESSURECTED and the SHROUD supports all of this with MATERIAL EVIDENCE and Christians should use the SHROUD to help persuade athiests that today are blinded by Science, to use Science to bring them to my Lord Jesus Christ!!

Thank you for your very scientific explanation! God made your mind and others like you, perceive these great mysteries. There is also 3D imaging in the image on the shroud. That in itself is a mystery only scientists could decipher. Who says Science and faith are incompatible!?

I have never seen anything in Science that opposes a Biblical Worldview.
I'm not saying people of Faith agree on everything, because we definitely do not. But with my level of science training and 34 year career as a Staff Scientist I have never seen anything that even remotely conflicts with the Bible.
I'm not a scientist, but like yourself, was overwhelmed at a young age, by the Shroud. I don't know if you have seen the research by Mechanical Engineering and Thermal Measurements Professor, Giulio Fanti, Padua, Italy, but it is absolutely convincing, like yours! The Mystery of the Shroud is the title of his book, and the film, The Shroud of Turin, 2015, is here on RUclips. Thank you for your work!

Incredible! When Dr. Lavoie revealed that the image on the shroud is that of an upright man, it gave me shivers of awe! But of course it is an image of the risen Christ! Hallelujah!
Was Christ a deformed human that looked like a severely handicapped man? Because the proportions on the shroud show that. Why? Because it’s the same proportions as statues at the time it was faked, and admitted to be faked.

Read your Bible. Jesus was wrapped in strips and a separate head cloth. God's Word does not support the shroud.
Just looked it up and only John says "strips of cloth, the other 3 gospels say "a piece of linen cloth" as in one piece. The separate head cloth is true, but it has not been found and what does that matter? @@4TIMESAYEAR

This was really a show of substance. You need more like this. What about how Eucharistic Miracles tie into the actual crucifixion of Christ and how some of the information we gather from the Eucharistic Miracles can also tie into the Shroud. They actually proove each other through blood type and more.

I was a skeptic for many years about the shroud of Turin. For no logical reason whatsoever! I didn’t even try to do my own research. Then last year, few weeks before Easter/ Passover, I finally decided to watch a show about the shroud. BOOM 🤯💥 out of nowhere, I believed. I. Just. Believed. And I still believe. And I will believe for the rest of my life. I love how God works in my life ❤. Praise be to Him alone.

just ordered the ebook on Amazon. Can't wait to read it. I have a replica of the shroud at home. It looks really great and initiates interesting conversations with visitors (90+% are atheists). They have either never heard of it or are not aware of its significance. They don't believe it when you tell them about it but are surprised, even shocked when they see it. Some start thinking, which I feel is a success.

I was 8 when they attempted to debunk the shroud of Jesus in 1978. I think it was on the show In Search Of hosted by Leonard Nimoy. Even as kids we knew it was real from the first time we saw it.
You were way smarter at 8 than the nimrods who tried to debunk what has overwhelming evidence in favor of it.

Yes, I was 10 at that time & remember being told it was a fake! 😞 I knew that was not correct. I was able to put together (even at my young age) the story about the Nuns repairing what had been burned and thinking "they took the wrong piece of cloth!" Ever since then, I've been so interested to discover more and more info that is revealed about our Lord's Holy Shroud as the years go on. I'm excited to purchase this book.

For whatever myriad of reasons, we as individuals often wrestle with our faith. For me, it was only when I finally relented and asked God to reveal Himself to me, and simply opened my eyes in order to actually ‘see’ finally, that His presence became so clear to me that I can only describe it as obvious. ‘Your mileage may vary’, as they say. However the blinders that we can put on ourselves in our daily lives can prevent us from seeing all manner of things.

I agree, it's easier to believe it is authentic than the believe it's 13th or 14th century hoax. They certainly didn't have the technology to fake it. It was only realized in the late 1800s what a photo negative even looked like. It would be a miracle if they actually faked it in that time period. I think it's authentic.

I’m old enough to remember the anticipation about that study in the 1980s. I also remember saying to people then, “it’s about faith. I bet they date it to the 13th century, but you have to believe the image is real through faith.” Any test can be wrong, but it’s all about having doubts. One has to overcome one’s doubts through faith.
And I knew nothing about the details; not the wound patterns, nor the French weave, or the posture, etc. I only knew that the image was rendered in 3D, and that the image couldn’t be recreated. I had faith.

one of the best things he said was "you have to seek, to go out and look" I would add to that you have to be willing to accept, open your heart and it will come to you. Most people myself included didn't really look into it so I was a skeptic but once you really look into it even without preconceived Ideas it just makes sense from a logical point of view

The shroud is a photograph made with light so intense it could light up a stadium (and then some) but so cool that it didn't even burn the fabric it was imprinted on, which was not a photo-receptive surface. It's a cool thermo-nuclear reaction. And that's just for starters.

As a teenager intrigued with the Shroud... I reached the conclusion that the image had to have happened while levitated due to the similar images on front and back. Being levitated upright supports the other logistics. Brilliant!
At the end of the day, for those who don't believe, no evidence (other than the 1978 carbon dating data) is possible. For those who do believe, no evidence is necessary. Blessed be those who do not 'see' and yet believe.

Lately I vision Jesus as King with 👑 golden crown. Very powerful and authoritative gesture, yet gentle eyes. He is The King.
I was scrolling youtube when a documentary about mary madeline came up with a painting of her face in the thumbnail. The subtitles came up and they said you are truly blessed. I didnt really realise and scrolled on for a second. When i went back to click on the video the message was gone and there was no subtitles near the beginning that said that. Its one of the wierdest things that has happened to me because it was quite prominent and i tried to find an explanation. I kind of believe god is in the algorithm these days

I had read somewhere where someone had explained that the way the cloth was folded was the same way someone would fold their cloth/ napkin, at the table and that specific fold meant that they would be returning to the table and not to clear their spot off. Had anyone else ever hear about this practice?
I have seen that idea. It assumes that Jesus folded that cloth. I do not buy it.
In the 1978 study and other subsequent studies the sudarium of Oviedo was shown to have been folded multiple tines, pierced with a long pin from some sort of fastener and put on Christ's Forehead. The stain on the cloth is the same as the stain on the shroud, like a 3.
The cloth was used to collect body fluids from Jesus face that are considered precious to Jewish believers
Yes, I have. And I believe Jesus did it as a sign to those who knew the practice, and that it was mentioned in Gospels because back then, people would know the significance.

I own full-size museum quality reproductions of the Lance of Longinus, crucifixion nails, crown of thorns, Roman flagrums, and actual set of tefillin, a full size copy of both the Shroud of Turin and the Sudarium. All items are stored in a silver case. I cannot handle any of them without weeping......

Every year innumerable pilgrims visit the Church of the Volto Santo (Holy Face) in Manoppello, to admire that image which, according to tradition, but also to long and thorough research, may have been the impression of Christ's face on a shroud.
The shoud of Turin is a present from the Lord to us . We should pray and live for HIM alone always .
Several years ago, Dame Isabel Piczek talked about the fact that the man in the cloth was not lying on something when the image was formed because the back was not flattened. He had to have been lifted up somehow. She also spoke about the hair. I think that was in the 2007 documentary, "The Fabric of Time," but it may have been in one of the interviews she did with Russ Breault. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I do believe it was in the documentary.

Unfortunately they do not mention the lettering found on the shroud. Research Vatican researcher Barbara Frale. Writing on shroud reads Jesus the Nazarene. Also has date of his crucifixion.

I have been following news and research on the Shroud since 1985, when I wrote a paper as an undergraduate about the history, provenance and scientific investigation of the Shroud. If I had to give one piece of information to a non-believer, it would be that the original carbon dating was defective and incorrect, and that all other forensic information gathered from the Shroud investigation team pointed to a 1st century Jerusalem origin. I do have one question regarding today’s presentation: If Jesus was indeed upright at the time the image was created, why does the cloth still lie flat? Wouldn’t it drape at the sides, causing creases in the image, if the body had been raised upright?
Might be that, instead of the body being vertical, the direction of the force of gravity was rotated 90 degrees. I that could happen, then the cloth could have been flat, regardless.
