In Croatia and most of Bosnia we do the same “basic-step” but use the foot with which we go to the side(preskok) to start the three time stepping (trokorak) again. If you then use your knees to bounce like you did and bend the foot that does the third step to the side, you‘ll have that typical Croatian/Bosnian look/version of the kolo. But that would presuppose a faster melody like the Drmeš or Konjičko kolo. You’re right, the melody you use is the Moravac but it is typicality danced different, like this: 7 steps to the right and then 3x3 like in the standard version but lifting the knees more, then going 7 steps in the opposite direction. While going to the sides one foot is placed infront of the other one, then the other one infront of the first one, so you get those round „waves“ that are typical fot the Moravac
Exactly I was thinking the same lol. I was born in Zagreb but my family is originally from Bosnia ..they do Kolo a little different and the other one called šote it's similar to that
Yes, you are correct. My version was to teach our American guests a basic step so that they could participate in the dances during the wedding. I didn't know my son was going to post it on RUclips! I would have done a better and more detailed job of it had I known!
At weddings they seem to do what you do and then move the entire line in a direction at a wedding where the lines snake around tables. What are the steps to progressively move in one direction over time?
This video was made by my mother to teach our non Serbian friends how to do it! I’m sure there’s different variations but for us this is the basic one.
E bas ti hvala, ziva bila i radovala se
