Some tips: -put torches high on the celing,or hide them with cobwebs, leaves or trapdors, maybe some paintings -place trapdors on top of a grave, carve it in an make it so you can walk into it -put water above a block to create driping efect, maybe around all that mosy cobble -put some used swords and armor in chest in grave(varior's grave) -carve some graves inside of a wall -place gravel on ground,so it looks like ceeling fell down -maybe some stalagmites, stalactites
Another headstone idea to consider is using a whole block of cobble with a cobble slab on top, although admittedly this looks more formal and less run down. For the lighting, you might be able to use some mix of half-slabs and wall insetting to get the desired effect without really being able to see the torch. Hope this helped!
Oh, here is a indirect lighting idea that I've used. * Making a 1 wide x 2 high x 2 deep space in a wall. * On the back block at eye level, place the redstone torch. * On the front block at eye level, place a block. The bottom empty blocks will radiate the light. Of course you could do something similar with lava. However, it requires a little more space and might be too bright.
Hey beef, because of the fact that light can travel through stairs means that you could put a light source under the stairs in the graves therefor hiding the redstone torches because they don't look very good. Also the light mysteriously coming from nowhere could also add to the creepiness factor! Like so that beef sees it!
I like how the guy in 0:37 jumps for joy because of beefs nice words. And then in 0:44 beef says "you know what" and the guy suddenly stares at him. :D
Love the grave yard beef. It would be cool if you trapped zombies in some of the graves underground so that when you come in you can hear them moaning and gurgling.
You could use cobblestone fences/walls to help hide the torches or even stairs on their side (so there is only a small hole letting the light in). If ever you have extra wither skulls (which I doubt you would use for this) you could place them somewhere as decorations.
Light does emit through half slabs so just put the redstone torches underneath and they will be completely hidden but the place will still glow. Might have to change a couple more of the graves to the half slab version though.
Hide the torches by placing a cobblestone fence in front if it so it will connect to two blocks in either side. It'll let light through but hide most of the torch!
Put torches on top of the stairs in the chief's room where the darkness glitch is. It will stop the darkness. Also if you put down an item frame and an anvil inside it, then put a redstone torch on the same block as the frame, it makes a really cool torch holder. You might like these ideas!
Try putting ordinary torches under some of the gravestones and closing the ground up around them. The stairs count as transparent blocks and let some of the light through without lighting up the area. Etho uses this effect in his single-player world store-room.
hey beef i got some ideas for your graveyard. First with the redstone torches, try to put some vines to grow over the holes. Second, with the coffins try to put trap doors over the top of the holes. third, try to make a blood trail that leads to the mozolium. Also put some flowers and some bones and some goodies in the chests for the people that died.
You could also hide the redstone torches around a corner so the light would shine but not be seen. That would make it a little less bright but would hide the torches. Finally. You could put a tripwire or something over the entrance that is connected up to some note blocks to play some creepy tones perhaps?
Beef, try this for the torches: In the open/uncovered graves, place them in there. dig down another row so it's two blocks deep, then dig towards the grave in front of it (so it opposite direction of its "tombstone") and place it in there. When you walk in from that direction you won't be able to see the torch and from far away it's like a creepy like emanating from the grave itself! Like this so hopefully he'll see please!
I have two ideas on how to make the lighting more creepy. 1) Since chests are not a full size block put the redstone torches in the grave with the chest so light shines through the cracks . 2) Inset the torches into the wall and than grow vines down to cover it up.
to hide the torches, you could make an L-shaped hole in the wall, and put the torches in the back of the hole. If the redstone torches are TOO dim, you may need to use regular torches. You can always make it dimmer by making the hole deeper.
"While the Wither skeleton skull can be obtained as a rare drop from Wither skeletons, the other heads are only available in Creative mode." - MinecraftWiki
For one of the graves you MUST do this, write: "Here lies Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen He was number one!" and inside his grave you have to put a light blue helmet (rename it: #1) with bones in a skeleton shape.
I think for lighting, you should put one under the grave with the chest so it's not visible, but the glow is. And for the graves, I personally think the cobblestone fences look better.
Beef, to creep the place up even more u could change some of the tomestones to the mossy fences and put a mob head on top of it! You could also hide the insert torches with vines :) I really enjoyed the video!
You can use glow stone behind pistons and it will emit light. If too much, put more distance between the glow stone and piston and it will lower the amount of light
After seeing Beef's video I ended up making a graveyard in my minecraft world. I loved the idea of having chests underground as coffins, and in my chests I put a skeleton skull, bones, a chest piece, pants, and shoes and arranged them to make a faux dead body. If you put swords/other tools you can treat it like it's the coffin of a dead hero of the village (Or just a dead farmer if you only give him leather armour and a hoe
Beef, I am not a sub or a huge fan, but I stop by from time to time, and I would like to take a moment to congratulate you on your subscriber base. They seem to be reasonably positive and are just pouring with feedback and suggestions. It's nice to see every now and then. ^_^
When you get cobwebs hide the redstone torches in them up in the corners, also im not sure if light passes through half slabs if so the graves are a good place to put it. PS: love the bats!
Have the Mausoleum connect into a small crypt, so basically, make some tunnels down the sides, connect the tunnels somewhere, and line the walls with "coffins" using double chests, then fill the chests with bones, and skulls.
For the headstones you could try using a wooden fence, they are jungle people after all. also you could hide the torches behind vines. Instead of half slabs for the two graves put gravel.
Hey beef, i have an idea for your island. I've been playing far cry 3 and something that was really cool was when exploring the island I would find little pockets of exploration like a cave that will have a little shrine in it or a wrecked boat. They were almost like little Easter eggs and really added to the feeling of the island and exploring it
for me it would be nice to put some flower pots here and there, for the doors I think would be better to use iron bars, iron doors seems a bit modern in this scenery. for some alternative light source you can always use netherrack on fire, that may also be hidden somewhere inside the walls. if the wither skulls where easier to get, that would be great addition too
if you put lava aside the path near the iron doors you can put signs below and then water below the signs and signs to make a secret tunnel with wither skulls and cobwebs etc
Make the furthest grave a double one since you thought it'd look cool, there's room for it. Cracked brick stairs for the heads, or mossy cobble stairs? Insert regular torches way far into a wall so it gives off less light and is completely invisible. Hope you like some of those ideas beef =P
Suggestion for Head/Tombstone, You could use Trapdoors Standing Vertical, with signs placed in front would look and resemble the wood theme of the island. As for the lighting have you tried placing them in the walls then put glass pane to close the spot off then have vines cover the hole where their placed.
OK I coulden't fit these in other post so: -one redstone torch under another,so it is turned off -a hole in the entrance of the mauselioum, you put an redstone torch there to open an door -hiden altair behind the mauselioum
Hey beef, here's an idea for creepy lighting: Take skeleton or wither heads, and make 2 deep indents in the walls, then place redstone torches or regular torches in the back and place the heads in front of them to get a parisian catacombs look.
Put signs on the gravestones, and water in the celling of the mausoleum so that the water will drip down and give more effect to the mossy stone bricks.
under the slab walk way to the moselium, dig 7 blocks down including the blocks beside. then, at the bottom, cover it in lava. but only the bottom block. that way you have light and it adds an indiana jones feel
i think you should dig into the wall one block and then two blocks to the side, so you can not directly see the redstone torch but the light can still come out
Remember the peckers that genny put in docs base? You could do that under a grave so it sounds like there is a testificate trying to break out of a grave!
You could put a Zombie with a pumpkin on his head in to the mausoleum, so it's looking like the "King" is now a Zombie and his grave should be half opened.
Beef just a suggestion for the grave. maybe try trapping 2 zombies in the mosilium and having them hold something so they dont despawn. (maybe something that would suggest they were buried together) or try putting zombies below a few graves? just a few suggestions for you!
For the mausoleum thing, go a few blocks down, and put lava, and at about head level you could put cobble walls. And don't use redstone torches. they are ugly. use torches, but just hide them so its not really bright. Like with the little light glitch thing you had, if you can do that again you should.
Here's a creepy idea: Put parody names, of some-all the other mindcrack guys on the tombstone stairs. All I came up with was DeadUndead, Paul Sores Sr. and the best one, Zisteau. I know there are better one's I can't think of, but it's an idea. They don't even need to be creepy or spooky, not that myne where.
For the torches dig 2 or 3 blocks back then 1 block to the left or right then place the torch or something like that and maybe for the place in the back put a villager that looked like Noah and a sign that says ''here lies Noah'' or something along those lines
Beef, I am fairly certain that Mycelium (and grass) wont grow unless they get a certain lvl of light so it wont spread to the dark part of you cemetry. Great build though :D
Beef i think that putting some redstone torches under the beds in the final room would look good as it would give the impression of the bodys glowing. Maybe also trap some mobs in minecarts but under the beds so that it looks like the bdys are actually in the beds?
I recon that you should have the names on the head stone be in a Lord of the rings style, i.e. Galius son of Borolie or sonething like that, it would give the graveyard a sense of oldness.
Beef, stop worrying about us just make your video to the best of your abilities and we will like it. That's why we love you and subscribe and like yours vids. Awesome vid and keep up the good work
I was gonna say you could invite Guude to clam one of the graves for Noah and have a the whole mindcracker's come over and have an offical funeral, but that might be to painfull for Guude and he already was the grave on the ark
Like this !!! First dig three down second place the torch third put a fence on the torch and fourth put a stone slab on the fence you can hardly see anything only the light
Nope. I play with mods, but RePo is the one with the Vorpal enchant, and I don't use that one (Yet. I'll be making a new world with it when Mystcraft releases their next version and I start playing with that again).
Beef if you cover the holes in the walls where you placed the redstone torches with stairs or half slabs the light will still shine through but you wont be able to see the torch
With the torches inset them once more to the left or right and put them on the back block so u can't see them, u could even put vines ove the holes as well to give a more spooky feel ;) hope it helped
Some tips:
-put torches high on the celing,or hide them with cobwebs, leaves or trapdors, maybe some paintings
-place trapdors on top of a grave, carve it in an make it so you can walk into it

One idea that might work is glass, but that might take the feel of the room away. Over all really cool.

In the one open grave without the chests you could place some redstone, as if some blood is still fresh. Keep up the great vids Dan/Beef!

Beefs brain in the beginning of this episode "HURR Lets get these villagers back to the INFINITE BREEDING MACHINE because they are SOOO valuable DURR"
Literally the most creative title ever
You can use glow stone behind pistons and it will emit light. If too much, put more distance between the glow stone and piston and it will lower the amount of light

For the Mausoleum, you can put trip wire at the beginning and some dispensers to fire arrows from behind as like a trap like a booby trapped tomb.
Beef, I am not a sub or a huge fan, but I stop by from time to time, and I would like to take a moment to congratulate you on your subscriber base. They seem to be reasonably positive and are just pouring with feedback and suggestions. It's nice to see every now and then. ^_^

Now that you can silk touch web, you can replace the smoke that comes from the fires in all chimneys with spiderweb!

Beef for the red stone torches, you can build in 2 blocks horizontally, then go down one so you can see it.
The enderman was mourning the loss of one of his best friends, who drowned at sea when he joined the villi age repopulation program
Oh wow, i was thinking of the don't stand so close to me song too, mind blown.
if you put lava aside the path near the iron doors you can put signs below and then water below the signs and signs to make a secret tunnel with wither skulls and cobwebs etc
Make the furthest grave a double one since you thought it'd look cool, there's room for it.
Cracked brick stairs for the heads, or mossy cobble stairs?
Insert regular torches way far into a wall so it gives off less light and is completely invisible.
Hope you like some of those ideas beef =P
Secret Base/ Hideout for a Mayan-like villager cult should be on this side of the island.
Suggestion for Head/Tombstone, You could use Trapdoors Standing Vertical, with signs placed in front would look and resemble the wood theme of the island.
As for the lighting have you tried placing them in the walls then put glass pane to close the spot off then have vines cover the hole where their placed.
It does not take over grass... From the wiki. I build on a mushroom island on my LP so I did some research
Thanks for all the great videos Beefaroni!
"When the villagers die they turn into creepers"- that would make quite the perverted village.
for the names on the graves, put R.I.P with all the B-team members
OK I coulden't fit these in other post so:
-one redstone torch under another,so it is turned off
-a hole in the entrance of the mauselioum, you put an redstone torch there to open an door
-hiden altair behind the mauselioum
hey beef, pistons are transparent too, you can but some torches under the pisons and find a way that it doesn't get powered
Hey beef, here's an idea for creepy lighting: Take skeleton or wither heads, and make 2 deep indents in the walls, then place redstone torches or regular torches in the back and place the heads in front of them to get a parisian catacombs look.
Beef, to make it extra spooky, you could use the stone fence but u could put a monster head on top on every on of them.
Put signs on the gravestones, and water in the celling of the mausoleum so that the water will drip down and give more effect to the mossy stone bricks.
If you want to make it creepier, have a villager be a groundskeeper.
You could try to hide the torches behind vines and maybe connect them to a redstone clock so they can sort of go on and off randomly
For the red stone torches put them where you had them, under the stair thingy, but when you do put the web in front of it so it doesnt show as easy...
to hide the redstone torches you could put them under the stairs and cover it with one or two cobwebs to obscure the view of them
Hey Beef, now that you can put silk touch on shears and get cobwebs, you should use them to make smoke coming out of the blacksmith chimney!
in the open grave with the chest in you should cover up with more than the eyes in (like gold) and keep chacking it to see if people discover it.
under the slab walk way to the moselium, dig 7 blocks down including the blocks beside. then, at the bottom, cover it in lava. but only the bottom block. that way you have light and it adds an indiana jones feel
i think you should dig into the wall one block and then two blocks to the side, so you can not directly see the redstone torch but the light can still come out
For the open grave with the chests.
"R.I.P BTC(or his real first name)"
"Notch grant he lie still"
Remember the peckers that genny put in docs base? You could do that under a grave so it sounds like there is a testificate trying to break out of a grave!
Laughed with tears in my eyes at that adhd enderman :D
You could put a Zombie with a pumpkin on his head in to the mausoleum, so it's looking like the "King" is now a Zombie and his grave should be half opened.
Put the torches under pistons. They are counted as transparent blocks and it would blend well with the stone
Beef, I don't see what's freaky or spooky about honouring the dead!
Beef just a suggestion for the grave. maybe try trapping 2 zombies in the mosilium and having them hold something so they dont despawn. (maybe something that would suggest they were buried together) or try putting zombies below a few graves? just a few suggestions for you!
Beef,
you can put the redstone torch underground, then put redstone above it so it gives off the creepy light feel.
Beef: "I just have to replace some stuff with some other stuff"
For the mausoleum thing, go a few blocks down, and put lava, and at about head level you could put cobble walls. And don't use redstone torches. they are ugly. use torches, but just hide them so its not really bright. Like with the little light glitch thing you had, if you can do that again you should.
Glass blocks to cover the redstone torches? Not sure how that would look. There are also lighting glitches with half slabs that could come in handy.
I just love these work on the casltle

You should use redstone torches for inside the mausoleum for a more ambient and darker feel.
For the torches dig 2 or 3 blocks back then 1 block to the left or right then place the torch or something like that and maybe for the place in the back put a villager that looked like Noah and a sign that says ''here lies Noah'' or something along those lines
Beef put either leaves or pistons over the torches because light can still be seen through them
For the graveyard. You should just put the cobble stone fence down and then you could put a sign on it, and write names or something.
Beef, I am fairly certain that Mycelium (and grass) wont grow unless they get a certain lvl of light so it wont spread to the dark part of you cemetry.
Great build though :D
Make the large grave Noah's. I'm sure Guude will love that.
Place a torch on the wall, and then an item frame on the same spot with a cobblestone wall in it for the lighting!
you should put a flower pot with a rose in it so people could think that this is not a forgotten place
beef you should seal off the main tomb, leaving only a small hole to peek through, like Howard Carter did when they discovered Tutankhamun's tomb!
You could have the mindcrackers customize their own grave, like have their own customized underground paradise for the "afterlife" :P
Beef you could put cobwebs in front of the torches. Since you mined into the block you could place it in front of it.
Beef, stop worrying about us just make your video to the best of your abilities and we will like it. That's why we love you and subscribe and like yours vids. Awesome vid and keep up the good work
Beef put red stone torches so it isn't so bright and it looks more spooky!
I was gonna say you could invite Guude to clam one of the graves for Noah and have a the whole mindcracker's come over and have an offical funeral, but that might be to painfull for Guude and he already was the grave on the ark
That chief coffin room made me feel very uneasy.
Like this !!! First dig three down second place the torch third put a fence on the torch and fourth put a stone slab on the fence you can hardly see anything only the light
*Maybe something like that* (sound of dirt killing mycelium) (I don't know to spell it)
Killer of mycelium: Vintage Beef
(11:35)
Vintage Beef uses cobblestone fences!!! It's super effective!!!
In AMLP's Uncharted Territories, he used clay where you have soul sand for the graves. To me that looked very spooky and aged.
Nope. I play with mods, but RePo is the one with the Vorpal enchant, and I don't use that one (Yet. I'll be making a new world with it when Mystcraft releases their next version and I start playing with that again).
Skulls in the Graveyard would look awesome
Beef if you cover the holes in the walls where you placed the redstone torches with stairs or half slabs the light will still shine through but you wont be able to see the torch
With the torches inset them once more to the left or right and put them on the back block so u can't see them, u could even put vines ove the holes as well to give a more spooky feel ;) hope it helped
either put cobwebs or vines in front of the torches and posibly water at the top for a dripping effect
in one of sly's vids, sly said beef was telling them how they could beat the hydra(a boss mob from the twilight forest mod)
