    Thank you for this helpful video tutorial! Thank you! 👍 If anyone is really short on time and is already familiar with card games using tricks and trump cards, here's the basic game play described in exactly 100 words:
    Complete each mission by helping all players acquire specific assigned cards or “tasks” (four colors X numbered 1 through 9) by winning tricks containing assigned task.
    All large “playing cards” are dealt to players. Deal X number of “task cards” in center. Players circle to pick tasks.
    Player with Black4 trump card (1 of 4 trumps) picks and plays first card.
    Players can “radio” to reveal one card as their highest or lowest card of that color, or only card of that color.
    The number of tasks, player-task assignments, task sequence, and radio access vary by mission (50 in all).

    I tried playing my first game with my family with mission 1. I was the commander and my task card was pink 1 and I had pink 1 playing card in my hand. How could I ever complete my task if everyone else has higher pink cards in their hands? We can only play one card per trick correct?

    • @RollforCrit
      @RollforCrit  2 года назад +25

      This is a tough one, but in a situation like this, the best thing to do (I think) would be to communicate (through the communicate token) to the other players that you have the pink 1 card. Then, players would have to wait until they had NO other pink cards in hand. That way, you could begin a trick with your pink 1, and everyone else would be forced to play a different color card. Since you can only win a trick by playing the color matching the starting card, you would win by default with your pink 1 card. So, it's possible, but this is definitely a tricky scenario for your very first mission! Remember that The Crew is a pretty quick game and your luck won't always come through, so sometimes you might just have to deal out a mission a few times before the stars align and you can get past it. Good luck!

      Complete each mission by helping each player acquire specific assigned cards or “tasks” (four colors X numbered 1 through 9) by winning tricks containing assigned task.
      All large “playing cards” are dealt to players. Deal and place small “task cards” in center. Players circle to pick tasks.
      Player with Black4 trump card (1 of 4 trumps) picks and plays first card.
      Players can “radio” to reveal one card and reveal if it’s their highest or lowest card of that color, or only card of that color.
      The number of tasks, player-task assignments, task sequence, and radio access vary by mission.

    Can you play a Rocket card even if you have a card that can follow suit?

    • @RollforCrit
      @RollforCrit  2 года назад +2

      If you are not starting the trick, you must match the card suit if able. If not you can play anything, but other suits lose regardless of number while rockets will win the suit unless a higher one is played.

      @@RollforCrit thanks for the fun video man :D ! very explanatory :D ! My question is actually the same as the one you just answered: if you are not the first one that put the suit card, and you have cards in your hand that could match the suit, but you still decide to put the Trump card (rocket), do you have a malus or something ? I mean, I know the rules say that you must follow the suit if able, but what happens to me if I do not do it ? Is any rule for that ? (like losing points, needed to retry the trick ? etc ... )

    What is a “trick”?

    • @RollforCrit
      @RollforCrit  3 года назад +6

      In this genre known as 'trick-taking games', a trick is essentially just another word for a round of play. One 'trick' consists of each player adding a card to the center of the table, then determining a winner based on who played the best card.

    • @jonaskoelker
      @jonaskoelker 2 года назад

      Maybe English differs from Danish, but I'm used to using 'trick'* to additionally refer to the set of cards won during a single round of play. [That is, it refers to an object as well as a process.]
      (* or rather its Danish equivalent, 'stik')

    I played this game with good tarot players and it was not a fun experience... Every time I had to play a card I was terified to do a sub-optimal play or not following the evident strategy they have put in place... And they made me feel bad when I blew up a game by not understanding what happend on the table. Counting cards and keeping track of what someone might or might not have in hand reqire a very specific mind set...

    How do you lose this game?

    • @RollforCrit
      @RollforCrit  Год назад

      If someone wins a trick that contains a card someone else needed for a task, then you all lose. If people are not in sync and aren't paying attention, then this can be tricky. But if you work together, even without talking you will have good odds at winning.
      If you are looking for more challenging experience, The Crew: Mission Deep Sea has more complex tasks to complete. These can be having more of one color vs another, winning every color of a specific number, or winning a trick of a specific round.

    wtf is a trick? It was never explained

    • @RollforCrit
      @RollforCrit  Год назад

      Sorry about that. A trick is the collection of the cards played in one round, one card by each player. In trick taking games, each round every player plays a card, and depending on the rules, one player wins the trick and takes all the cards. In more competitive games, you are often just trying to take the most tricks. Because The Crew is cooperative, you will work with your allies to try and complete specific goals, such as winning a trick containing a card of a certain value. I hope this helps.

If you remove one of them, it can't be called a space game anymore. Communication conditions in the game are difficult, if you want to communicate, you must transmit a signal, it will make you complete the task more difficult but it is the core of the game, if the task is too easy to complete the game will be too boring.
