His partnership with music director Salil Chowdhury, Shankar-Jaikishen and S.D.Burman is epic. He wrote some of the best melodies and showed his versatility in writing through songs . First time I have watched this video, There's an Originality in a few clips ..One is Raj Kapoor himself singing the AWARA Song .never seen this before..I was once employed as Production Asst @ Shree Sound Studios..this studios was located at Dadar East ..just behind the Famous Chitra Cinema..opp was a Punjabi restaurant named GUPTA..
Also a soap Factory..
We along with spot boys & Camera Assistant would order Snacks & Tea & chat whose Film shoot is on ..met most Well-known Actors of the era..be it Dev Anand Saab, Dharamendra, Rajandra Kumar ..Raaj Kumar I knew before he entered the Film Industry..
He was a Sub Inspector posted at Mahim Police station-.Bombay at that time..I did not meet him in the police capacity but thro my Uncle Who had a Tailoring establishment @ Portuguese church..( Ferns Bros).
Raaj Kumar Saab had a passion for clothes..he also designed his own Suits..very particular about the cut ..the color of the suits..but trouser's were either White Colour or Black..had a passion for scarfs..I personally used to delivery the clothes at his bungalow near Worli Sea face..facing the sea..After the realise of B R Films WAQT..he became a huge star..but remained humble..the attitude people speak about of him is make believe..He use to offer Tea or Soft drink whenever I want to take trail of his clothes..
Shailendraji the lyricist writer was the best ever who's songs became all times hits. There will never be anyone to replace him..Coming from a schedule caste a Jatve ( Chamar) I heard this thro my colleague at the studio ( a low caste) like Dr Ambadakar was a just brilliant.I am not against Racism..all are Human beings..what extraordinary talent some of these people have is amazing..thanks for your inputs..
