    I went with the Tremor3 solely because of how windy my environment is and found the wind holds to be attractive. Wind averages 11mph here and consistently gusts to 25mph +

    I picked up mk5 3.6-18 TMR on sale for $1500. For a long range 300 win mag hunting rifle... I wanted to keep weight reasonable and still have a 3-4x low power, but still give me capability to dial for drop and hold for wind... I think its ideal.

      I agree, for a hunting rig leupold is my top pick. For benchrest vortex is very nice for the price and if I'm building something for war I would go nightforce for their reputation for being tanks. Luckily I'm just shooting animals and steel lol

      Do you think the TMR reticle is usable at 3.6x even at low light situations or with a bussy backround? If i'm not mistaking the TMR has some thicker lines on the outter part of the reticle that might help with that. But what's your opinion?

    • @RockinRack
      @RockinRack 10 месяцев назад

      @calve1771 yes it would be usable especially if you have the illuminated version. The new tmr reticle is much thicker with a thick center dot compared to the old tmr in my vx4 lrp scopes. I prefer the thin one but the new one does make it much more usable at lower magnifications. I was thinking it was too thick at max power but after using it for a while it's not so bad still able to shoot soda cans at 400, was worried it would completely cover them. For hunting use the tmr is pretty ideal imo

    • @calve1771
      @calve1771 10 месяцев назад

      @@RockinRack Thanks for your time. I'm not really thinking about the illuminated version since I don't really use it, so my concern is more about the usability of the reticle at 3.6x in low light situations and bussy backgrounds for really close fasts shots what may present while hunting. Just like you I intend to use it mixing hunting and target shooting.

    I recently bought one of these with Tremor 3 to upgrade a Vortex Viper PST Gen II 3-15x. I wasn’t impressed. It’s now sold. I expected it to blow the PST out of the water, but to my surprise the clarity wasn’t great, image was milky/dull/flat, couldn’t get it focused well to my eye at all, not as much brightness or contrast, reticle subtensions were too fine and unusable below 12x or so and 3.6x was unusable bc the reticle was hard to pick up and easily lost in even a slightly dark background. I think some of the focusing part of the issue may have been bc of the busy reticle, but for the price of these, there’s no other reticles I’m interested in. Sent it in to Leupold to see if something was off with it and they sent it back saying it was all good.

    Very nicely done. I gave the Leupold scopes serious consideration as they are very well built, high quality scopes that are lite weight. What perplexed me is that the VX 5HD scopes are half the price of the Mark 5HD. Only difference that I saw was in the reticle as both had excellent image/color clarity. The VX is geared towards hunters that don’t shot as often while the Mark series are geared to tactical shooters. They have figured out that by providing a tactical reticle, they can charge 2X. I don’t like to fall prey to a company that wants to pick my pocket and gouge me for a minor feature such as a different reticle and illumination. The majority of people buying Leupold are older shooters that value a recognized name, but more and more shooters are looking for value to performance which Leupold is losing.

Better than expected and I looked at a lot of reviews, etc. Right now I have it on my DD MK12 (18" barrel) and I'm actually thinking of moving the scope to my 14.5 because it's so good at 2x (I'm not 100% sure I can go without a 1x on the 14.5, but I'm going to give it a try). With all that said, I'm probably going to end up with the MK5 3.6-18 for my MK12. Not sure what reticle yet, but I would definitely consider another illum. TMR. Setting the zero stop is also dumb as shit with its tiny screws on that disc. I know nothing is perfect but I’m holding out hope that some company will come close one day. It just takes me personally so much time to save up that kind of money that I have high expectations. I think that athlon could be that company that comes out with a close to perfect MPVO.
