Glad I found this video👍 my 98 Legacy Outback was having the same problems just more severe to the point where it would start lunging and try to die at a steady 50mph. I decided to try the seafoam spray with the corner hose clip thing, sprayed about three-quarters of the can into the iacv hose then shut off the car and let it hot soak for 10 minutes then sprayed the last of it at a higher RPM to rinse it out. Running like a beauty now, thanks
I need to do this but I’m worried I’ll fuck up my engine more than it already is... I have. 97 legacy outback and every month it seems my iac gets stuck and idle at 1100 rpm/when I drive it shifts at higher rpm and feels terrible
kevin dahlr it helped a lot but I'm not sure it was the primary problem ended up replacing MAF sensor and IAC sensor and some vacuum lines. She's running like a champ and I did notice an improvement after doing this. You made it simple and was easy to do, thank you!
Why not just take all the surrounding hosrs off, take that vacuum hose off, remove the sensor harness, remove the two screws and clean it with good ol elbow grease and throttle cleaner? Did the fans cool it down well enough? I can't imagine pouring cold seafoam into a hot intake manifold without it being risky as hell. I've sprayed it into the throttle , but this way... you've got balls
The fans on mine actually didn't cool it enough... it was a quarter above normal operating temp, luckily I used the entire can of spray seafoam before it went to H...
Did you pour directly into the large top hose of the iacv?

I replaced the temp sender on mine and it didn't fix the issue. Going to clean the IAC now. Thanks for the video.
Great video. Just performed this service on my 98 2.2 Impreza. I used some maxed out credit cards instead, lol.

You can remove the IAC Valve off of the car and clean it good with Carb Cleaner and a toothbrush.
Thanks going to try this tomorrow!
Phillip Wells Did it worked for you ?

my neighbors would kill me if I did this. Guess I'll find some abandoned lot somewhere.
No worked for me. i took the entire idle control valve off, cleaned every part till new again, better idle!
Can i take the ivac off a 2.5 forester and put it on a 2.2 impreza
I tried this on my car and I had no suction/vacuum? Do you know what might cause that?
Did this end up working?
Yes, worked great and is still good.
@@MrElsinore75 I was watching but I don’t wanna make a mistake. Where exactly did you put the sea foam.
En la manguera de succión del iac
Did you fix your cat codes later 😀

the engine doesnt sound too healthy. It sounds like your cams arent healthy
its running with a full vacum leak , thats why he had to jack up the rpm
