  • The true story is because I want to help my family; I want to help my mother...there was a boxing show in our place and we heard that there's a prize. Even you lose, there's a prize...we fight and I won, so I made $2...if you lose, $1...I buy rice and food to my mom...I was 12 years old," stated 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, who told the tale of how he got into the sport of boxing. Check it out!

He had a humble beginning and he's not ashamed to tell it. He also hasn't lost sight of where he came from. He's maternal uncle was once our neighbour. When Manny became rich, his uncle got called back to Gen. Santos City, I heard he was offered a job. He's still there. During his training, he employs lots of people. He doesn't really need most of them but he employs them anyway. He's a genuine nice guy. Performing well in Senate too. Heart's in the right place. I just wish politics don't influence him a lot and become a traditional politician. Overall, such a rare person.

It's an amateur, not sanctioned, sort of underground boxing matches held every week just for local people there for entertainment. People sometimes put moneypot or bet to the fighters. There are no weights class. They based it on height or body mass. The gloves are worn out. Typical third class community having fun. That's where our hero Manny came from.

I remember vividly watching his fights back in the day on TV, he was already a very good brawler, his fights were electrifying. If you watch Kid Kulafu you would actually find out that he came from the Jungle before he was in the slums. When he moved to Manila he had to sleep on the ring he trained on cause he couldn't afford to pay rent as a construction worker. At the tender age of 16 in his first year as a pro, before one of his fights, he saw one of his closest friends die in the ring. Shortly after that he had a match himself. He knocked out his opponent as quick as he could so he could rush to the hospital and see his dead friend and say his final goodbyes. Pac is the realest since Duran. He was literally made for this shit. When it's all said and done we all know who the GOAT is.
