When I bought mine there were little to no videos about it and especially during the peak of the pandemic, Amazon was selling out. Glad I got mine when I did. I’ll never get rid of this one.
I've owned 2 of the EC-256's and still have them. I've also owned a few of the expensive "Name Brand" LP's. I can honestly say these are amazing and love mine way more than the "Name Brand" LP's! The pickups to me sound great I've never even thought of changing them out. The split coil sounds so good for that blues, country, rock, sound, and humbuckers sound amazing for rock to metal sounds.Usually in this price range they skimp out on the tuners but this guitar the tuners are great! Total value!
Fantastic review, as always. You're review of both the EC 256 FM and the Harley Benton FLT 90 Blast (black) sealed the deal on both for me. I bought a lemon drop EC 256 FM (used off of Reverb) and a HB FLT 90 Blast (black, just like the one you reviewed). Great playing, and keep up the excellent work. I literally watch you review and demo guitars all day.
Wow! Great guitar playing! I’m 60 years old and a beginning guitar player. l purchased this guitar ( different color) and it arrives to me on Wednesday 😁 and I can’t wait to get it into my hands and noodle around with it.
Great playing as always, Jonathan! Thanks for this demo and review. I just picked one of these up used. I have three of the Micheal Kelly Patriot, which I love. But, this LTD is something different. The contoured back with the belly cut makes it so comfortable to play. And, I am really enjoying the pickups. There are just so many great tones available. Thank you!!
My older Viper (think SG) 256 with P90s had essentially the same neck and it feels excellent. ESP LTD is amazing at making great value instruments. And as always, your playing is excellent Jonathan. And thanks to Davis Guitars, I really do hope they are seeing additional "foot traffic" for their support. This is a very positive way to bring attention to themselves.
Hello, you play extremely well. I came across your video to find out if I was ever going to buy this LTD model, and so I ordered it! thank you for the quality of your work. Greetings from France
If you're thinking about getting this guitar i would pull the trigger, I got mine 3 days ago and I cant believe it quality of it, I cant find any faults or issues and the colours are even better in person, this guitar punches well above it weight
Love you're choice of notes and amazing sense of melody glad I got to check you out just was checking out the guitar and got to hear some great playing
Good to see you again. I love your style. I have owned an EC256 and wish I still did. Great guitar for the price. thanks brother, keep up the good work

@@JonIsJustTooLoud After hearing you play the Harley Benton Fusion Pro 2 (Ocean Turquoise), I bought that guitar. Now after hearing you play this one, I purchased this one too. I should either say thanks for the great demos, or I should avoid your channel if I ever want to retire!
Awesome playing dude. Just bought one just for some fun. Surprisingly great for riff work. Standard pickups are pretty hot. Now watching reviews to congratulate myself haha. Well recommended.
I have the reliced sunburst version. Superb guitar great feel and tonal range. Your playing really helped highlight how good it is. I also have a Gibson Les Paul tribute but for some reason it's the LTD that tends to be in my hands more.
I got one that was jacked up, brand new. The bridge pot was bad right out the box. The truss rod needed an entire full turn and quarter of relief before it was in the norm. There was a small crack in the neck binding about 3mm long right where the nut meets the fretboard. The neck pickup was set to its lowest point and had to be raised almost 3mm to be within speck, the bridge pickup however was spot on. The fretboard has like black where the frets go, looks like a fret board has years of grim buildup even after cleaning it thoroughly. I feel like I am missing more stuff, but that's what you get when order a guitar on amazon.... I went ahead and replaced all 3 pots, new wiring, replaced the stock tuners with locking as yes this guitar does have issues with the bottom strings staying in tune and the lockers seemed to help a lot, and have spent hours trying to get a good setup. After all the drama, I absolutely LOVE this guitar. Aside from the dirty looking fretboard it really is a beauty in this blue finish and honestly plays and sounds fantastic if you can get it dialed in right.
I love it how jonathan brings the facts with his experience. - ''neck width and girth do make a difference in tone, in contrary to what people think.'' - Enjoy the smack down and bring the baseball bat necks.
Thanks for reviewing the LTD ESP es 256 . . . .I just purchased the guitar in black . . . .and had a version of the LTD ESP es 1000 . . . .Oddly . . .I found the pick ups on the 256 much nicer than the 1000 . . . .You played the 256 well in your review and the stats were right on point . . . .It's a great guitar and I look forward to seeing more of your videos . . .take care . . .
Oh I’m a sucker for a blue guitar Jon. €433 for such a guitar. It’s such a golden era for gear. Just beautiful, lovely tones and I thought you were gonna bust those strings, you were n fire in the intro. Cheers Jon 👍❤️👍
I bought my EC 256 Snow White as my first electric guitar 10 months ago. Worth every penny :) And I agree, it's very bright, especially with split coil, but you can dial in some EQ to get warmer tones as well :)
I just bought a used EC 401 last month with EMG pickups for less than the cost of a new 256 and it’s amazing!! Needless to say my Epi Les Paul hasn’t been getting as much playing time 😆
I’m buying whatever your selling. Badass video and playing. I’ve seen you other video on the vintage maple top. Just as awesome. Keep ‘em coming. New subscriber. 😊
That opening improvisation brought a smile to my face. It's a different style of worship music, for sure! ;-) As for the guitar, the split coil feature seems like it would be really useful. I have a Gretsch 5220, same LP body style, and I would love a split coil ability when I want a more penetrating tone. Thanks!
My (Made in Indonesia -2020) LTD EC-256 looks, feels and sounds incredible especially considering its price point. Mind you, I did upgrade the bridge humbucker to Seymour Duncan Invader. The neck PU remains original as I actually like the way it sounds. It inspires me to play more than any other guitar I have owned.
I have a ESP Ltd MH-53 with the same pickups, and replaced them with Alnico 2's this made a big difference to the overbright sound of the guitar. As Jonathan said, lightweight construction and thin necks don't go well with bright pickups, if like me you want some body and warmth to your sound. ESP Ltd's are great guitars if you go for a midrange or higher models, entry level ones are still good to learn on, and far easier to play than Fenders.
Try to ordered this blue ax today and it’s out of stock till mid June ‘21 , but purples came in with Sweetwater today so I grab me the purple guitar... Can’t wait till it lands in my hands 🙌
I also have an Epi LP and Schecter PT with splittable humbuckers and my Ltd 256 has a more distinctive and useful single coil sound than either of those. That surprised me. I like playing it as much or more than either too. Very easy to play and pretty comfortable on a strap. I play standing up mostly and I can wear a 256 for a couple hours without getting sore. A Les Paul usually has me moving the strap around after a while.
I bought one of these just to display because I think in 25yrs they will be a sought after guitar, and I believe the value of the blue and purple one's will 5x in value because they made fewer in those colors and they look better 😀.
The ESP designed pickups are actually good enough that wouldn't want to swap them. I believe they are manufactured by a Korean manufacturer called G&B. Also, nice playing!
I've got a LEFTY ec 256 4 years ago, in dark brown sunburst. The finish quality was superb. A couple of the inlays weren't glued right, plus it needed some fret leveling. Besides that the guitar sounded great, although the neck pickup was a little muddy to my ears , sometimes. As is, it's a very beautiful and quality guitar. After a year I decided to put a pair of USED Seymour Duncan's JB-59 and locking tuners. After this upgrade the guitar went to a different level. Now I have split coils, series-parallel, out of phase...so many different tones. It feels like a 1000 euros guitar, and plays like one. Overall it cost me around 700 euro's, including the fretwork and luthier fee and now I think I have a much more expensive guitar. For me it's much better than an epiphone or a cheap Gibson guitar. Only one thing I'm curious about. Compared to the Ec 1000... how is the quality? Why anyone should buy the ec 1000 if you can have the upgraded ec 256 with less money? If you ask me, the ec 256 are much greater guitars than the epiphones. Buy one and you won't regret it.

The Lemon Drop finish is commanding top dollar. I love it too. I dipped into the LTD 256 at half the price, a Faded Cherry . . . after setting it up it is a perfectly made guitar. The first electric I played was a 60's Gold Top . . . wow . . . like butter. Does the 256 match up? Well, no . . . unless you replace the 10's with 9's . . . maybe.

Im genuinely surprised by the quality of this inexpensive guitar, ive gone over it and I'm struggling to find any faults or build problems. The guitar seems to be staying in tune, the pickup selector is sturdy and the volume and tone controls are fitted well, it plays great straight out of the box. If I had to be super picky I'd say the pick-ups need to be changed at some point but in all honesty theyre nice for self branded pick-ups. Some of your chords have a Holdsworth like tone/sound. With a little Phil Keaggy thrown in. Good stuff.
thank you ✌💚
Now that you mention it, I hear Phil in there somewhere.
I love the eclipse. They feel great unlike a regular les paul.
Yep ✌️❤️
I have one, I really like it. Plays great, sounds good enough. I wasn't a fan of the nut or the tuners so I changed them. Not a fan of the inlays.
✌️❤️
