  • Gallant Farm in Delaware County, Ohio is a preservation park that maintains the feel of a Great Depression era farmstead. In this video I use a 6x9 medium format roll film adapter until the large format process becomes more second nature.

Subscribed! Hope of learning/finding Medium format stuff also about modern day GFX 50S (II) with Fuji or Canon adapted lenses on your channel, as I think you're a gifted teacher in explaining things passionately in this field of medium and large format cameras, Gogh to think I thought a few years ago these were on the verge of almost getting forgotten...

Lovely photography and video. The Crown Graflex 4x5 is wonderful. I grew up as a kid with a Crown Graphic 2X3 and going to get on in my old age. Thank you for your passion and this beautiful post.

Great video, Matthew, this is what I spend all of my time photographing old farm machinery. I liked all of your images and the video itself was very entertaining.

Nice video Matthew. How did you find the roll film back on a 4x5? I’ve never tried it myself but have been considering getting one to try it out.

The roll film back has worked out pretty well. It’s helped ease the pain of getting used to the camera. I’ve only been using Portra 160 in the camera thus far. You have to remove the ground glass for this one. I think I’ve seen some that supposedly slide under it, which would speed things just a little. It’s been fun so far. I need to figured out a more precise framing method.

@@MatthewFortner , I’ve seen people make cardboard masks to put on the ground glass to help with composing. My camera has markings etched onto the glass itself. I’ve only shot ILFORD FP4, which is black and white but also much cheaper than colour. I’ll try colour when my skills have improved.

The black and white shot of the windmill really stands out. 🙌 Thanks for sharing.

Hey, if you’d be interested in selling your camera here I am in the market! Just thought I’d put that on here. Nice video too, liked the fence shot. Thanks
