Going to speak up against the crowd and say you shoulda been doing more exploratory sequence breaks, so many rooms I just wanted to bomb or wall-jump up here and its painful knowing you coulda just Done That, like yeah it can lead to incoherent exploration if you take it too far but ain't that part of what makes Metroid fun?
The music in this hack reminds me of user-made Doom wads. Also, wonder why the sprite for samus was not replaced. Too much trouble, probably, but then for the amount of custom assets that are already there, it's weird to not go completely all the way.
Found out about zero mission hacks 2 days ago, got desolation and beat it and loves it. Ima get this one next. Ill come watch full video when i eventually get stuck like a pleb.
i ended up getting to the chozo ruins boss super early and now im paying the price for it. i can barely afford to make any mistakes and he literally CONSTANTLY spams lightning at me. CONSTANTLY. it is SO HARD, he wont give me 1 second of breathing time im getting attacks coming out less than a second apart from eachother chained together like 6 times. i never could have thought the gimmick fight from MZM would make me want to pull my hair out, even if i am trying to kill him early.
You talking about the one that gives your suit back in the original game? That boss's gimmick is that if you touch the floor for too long, you get lightning. The trick is to not stay on the floor as much as possible, but I doubt that advice helps a 5 month old problem lol.
Exactly, Metroid progression should only be minimally guided and thus multiple routes should be inherently doable. Also, unless they put literal guide posts, or give a list of tricks that are considered part of progression, how would one even know what is intended and what not?
@@NichtcrawlerX Maybe it was just those people who didn't like seeing him spend so much time and effort without a decent reward? I'm not sure. When you go for sequence breaks in a game you don't know that's just what you're signing up for. You might get something really nice really early or you get your 34rd missile expansion. Gotta go for it cuz who knows? ...It's also just really fun when you get it even if the reward isn't worth it.
I feel like it defeats the purpose of level design and progression whatsoever playing a new thing for the first time and just skipping stuff. Imo sequence breaking should be preserved for repeat playthroughs for integrity's sake.
You can't complain about screw attack glitching. Is your speed runner mind making you avoid fighting the enemies. If you wack them, they won't be obstructing your jumps

38:12 Yeah, the brick tiles are also from SotN.
49:41 Circle of the Moon sprites.
57:39 and what looks to be Order of Ecclesia sprites.
I feel like the trees are Megaman Zero?
The only thing this hack was missing was changing Samus' sprite to an actual wizard.

my favorite part was when michael jordan showed up to assist samus in defeating the hideous dragon
I actually remember playing this when I went through a phase of playing Metroid hacks for a while in Jr High

Can't believe shiny Ridley was the final boss.
Because michael jordan is a fantasy character, like bugs bunny and the like.
As evidenced by their shared screen space in the historically accurate biography Space Jam
i really enjoyed your videos on metroid desolation so here’s hoping i’ll enjoy this too
You sure rolled through a lot of crates in this hack. :D
This looks really, really neat.
I enjoyed this hack very much. Try a low% run: the final bosses take a while with no ammo
I played this hack a while back. It's fun. What controller do you use when playing these rom hacks? What is your setup (emulator or console)?
the dragon gotta be Ridley...lol
am i the only one that thinks the lava area theme has some megaman zero vibes ?
What??? Sequence breaking is half the fun in Metroidvanias!

@@ArnieMcStranglehold that would have been great advice but i eventually brute forced it without knowing that lol
I wonder who the dragon could be... it's a riddle.
You may say your wise enough to avoid heat damage xD
Yep. Boredom is dead.
I'm disappointed in everyone who said to follow a linear path. Shame on you all. Why don't you like good content?

I appreciate the immediate nonsense that sequence breaks bring too friend

Because he may skip parts of the game people wanna see. If it was a speedrun of a game he and everybody knows no one would care.

God dang it! That is cheating! Stop trying to Bomb Climbing all the way to Jupiter! 😂
