I’m so thankful for this, I’m sixteen so I will be able to vote in two years, but schools seem to forget that we need to learn politics. Most people my age have no clue on politics. This should be shown in all schools!
TheRenaissanceman65 thank you for taking the time to do that! I wrote the comment a year ago so I’m now settled in what party I will vote for, and their manifestos. I took most of the year to study up on politics, but I do believe it should be taught in schools so more young people feel educated enough to vote. But thank you! Whenever someone asks me what they should learn I will send them this bc you said it in such an easy way to understand
She remained exceptionally neutral, I appreciate that very much Unlike many other educators who put a slant on things according to the ideology they've fallen victim to So kudos for not doing that
Right! I'm always hesitant learning about politics because sometimes it's hard to identify if a source is neutral or not(even slightly, some people use biased words or phrasing). Even if they're supporting the views I do, I still don't want someone else influencing my views, just informing.
Mostly good though a little bias did creep in. It's true the conservatives are struggling to get policies through but it's largely down to divisions in their own party and not so much their small majority and other parties scuppering them. Also, Labour currently campaign from a platform highlighting the increasing wealth gap and that certainly isn't old-fashioned and is very much a current issue. None of this is the teacher's fault she did very well to keep bias out this is down to available information.
Dear Ms. Gill, Thank you very much. For English learners like me, who are from different part of the world, it would be highly beneficial for us to learn English as well as UK's historical/social/cultural/political system. In this sense, this video is higly informative.
When I saw this beautiful old lady standing next to the board ... I was really underestimating this video (with all the use of technology in videos now days)... But she is just what I needed! Very well structured, good pace, simple... Thank you!
i'm from Algeria and now i live here in the UK but may English still developing i just rely like you and i want to meet you because you relay help me and i always learning with you thank you Gill
I'm a passionate about the UK and everything related to this beautiful Land and I'm glad of this video, it helps me a lot to learn better how the British parliament works! Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!
Thank you to share this video with us, I'm a French student in College who study the AngloSaxon world. It helped me to understand more than I expected the English parliament, it would be a part of my success if I don't fail my exams.
the British voting system is wrong because it makes it difficult for smaller parties to get into power, a voting system similar to what they have in France would be fairer for British public.
Very helpful, thank you. I am a new British citizen and it's nice to learn a bit about the political system and elections. Thank you! This is wonderful
I love this video! You should do more on political system, I'm in the United States studying the UK Political System! I grasped understanding so well from you! Thank you!
Thank you very much for this video! I'm trying to write a fictional government that takes inspiration from the UK's set up. I barely understand my own country's politics, let alone the UK's, and your calm walkthrough helped little old me out.
You are just a joy to watch and i can`t believe how good you are at your age. i am pretty sure now i understand UK politics and why it remained impossible for them to achieve and deliver Brexit they promised to their citizen.
Thanks for your clear and calm explanation.I loved it. I wish you made another video with the update issues of the last few years and a lot have happened till them!
I'm in the US. Thanks for helping a foreigner understand where all these parties fit onto the political compass. I'm in a third party here but they are more or less ignored by US politics.
hi Gill you're obviously an impeccable mentor in particular the way you explain these sort of stuffs with decent order it seems quite natural rather than usual this indispensable part is thought-provoking I appreciate your efforts
You have such an ability to explain and to teach! It’s amazing! Thank you so much for your videos because they are very helpful when it comes to practicing English, specially when you are not a native speaker. Your accent trains hearing skill so much, and the topics are interesting and useful; of course, the way you explain and develop them is just as great. Thank you!
This is my first time make a comment on Gill's fantastic videos, and no any one missing, it's very helpful for me to improve my English vocabulary. I just sincerely express my appreciation to you.
This is so nice, it's presented with a heart felt innocence with the intent of galvanising interest in an institution that is not unfairly being deluged with a torrent of cynicism. This introduction shields the listener from the darker side where reality eventually brings a greater education.
Hi Gill, it´s a great idea to interview people! it was very entertaining and at the same time very instructive! You are a very conscientious and friendly teacher to whom we can quickly build trust. That is fundamental in foreign language learning.Your student shows that you are doing a great job! I'm looking forward to the next video .... maybe about typical English foods? That would be very interesting! Greetings!
One small exception, not to be that guy but...while yes there are 650 constituencies, only 649 are contested. There's a gentleman's agreement between the major parties in the UK (Conservative, Labour, LD, Sinn Fein, Plaid Cymru, etc.) that the Speaker's seat is uncontested.
You speak so slow and clear which makes it really easy for me to understand what you’re saying and it helps me a lot since I’m not a native speaker ^^ so thank you for your video
Really helped a lot in understanding. I am from India and was trying to prepare my topic about the comparative analysis of Indian political party system with Britain.THANkss ma'am .
Hello, Gill. First, thank you for this video and the lesson it contains, especially a day like today in which the results of the general elections in the UK have been kwon. Thanks to your class, I have better understood what has happened and your electoral system. It seems that most people do not want a hard Brexit. Bets regards. I hope see you soon.
I am so surprised with the fact that I understand almost every word Gill says! I think that it's most probably because of her excellent pronunciation and her ability to say things in the most simple and clear way
i did not watch the video yet because i am in a place where the network is so bad but i'm so excited to see it through the comments i think i will love you teacher
Very informative. Slight right lean I would say. Illustrates how the right will try to keep divisions because it is easier to control. Labor unions (parties) represent the opposition. There are typically more of the lower class than the upper (middle class is eroding), so they keep the lower class arguing amongst themselves
Good video. That lady is very easy to listen to and remained very neutral. Stumbled by this video looking for information about the current (2019) election. I want someone like this to it now. Without anamosity and bias. Good or bad just explain and let the people come to their own decisions. No propaganda rubbish and lies.
HI Gill, Thank you so much for your videos. This is my first glance at your channel and I finished watching this video. I've learned a lot from it and your ways of illustrating are so easy and enjoyable. Wish you the best!
Extremely well explained and interesting. This should be taught in schools...but then knowledge gives people power , so perhaps this is why it isn’t. Thankyou very much for sharing .
Dear Gill, you should know that I love learning from your videos. They are so interesting, especially those about culture, politics, geography or etymology :) That is what makes you special :)
Hi Gill, good morning! I always find your clips very enjoyable and it's a good way of not losing the grasp of the language. There are certain topics that for us who make use of English as a 2nd language can be rather confusing. Those are the context use of bind/bide/abide/bound/be bound and the verbs to lie and to lay. Would you mind commenting or perhaps give us a lecture on that? Thank you!
I'm 15 and barely know anything about politics cause my parents dont watch the news and I've never liked the news, I want to be able to talk about politics and I dont like being ignorant about issues and I am at the moment, appreciate this video I need to educate myself on this so thankyou
This was such a great lesson, informative, but neutral thus very professional. In addition you're a very charming person. I even liked the repition of some important vocabulary, because the way you do that isn't annoying at all.
Thank you very much for a rare and detailed view on the British Political System. While my current Degree is in Networking, my own personal studies into politics have drawn a unique interest in the possibility of an Independent running for MP or even prime minister.
Thank you very much! I had to do a presentation on the policital system of the UK for an exam. This helped me out. I´fm from the Netherlands so we don´t get much informtation about the UK in our schools.
You are amazing, I do not know your name an if you mentioned is difficult to catch but you are a lovely person It is nice to learn about Uk I didn’t know about that crazy rave party, looks funny, thee British have that particular sense of humor.
Thank you miss, it was very easy to understand, you spoke slowly, gestured and had a visible, written information to help. Thank you. PS: Do you agree with Brexit miss? I am from Slovakia(EU), so I am extremely against Brexit, but it would be interesting to hear a british Persons opinion.
Hi Gill, thank you for you lessons, they are immensely helpful. Hope you are safe, with all the craziness happening in London- terrorist attacks and fire.

People pretending the Lib Dems are bigger than the SNP piss me off
@@NickSBailey last thing I heard is that the UK has officially passed a law prohibiting any kind of critique of capitalism. How's that for bias, lol

Good to learn about politics in Great Britain. My wife, children and mother are there in Scotland.
Extremely well explained and interesting.
This should be taught in schools...but then knowledge gives people power , so perhaps this is why it isn’t.
