    I’m so thankful for this, I’m sixteen so I will be able to vote in two years, but schools seem to forget that we need to learn politics. Most people my age have no clue on politics. This should be shown in all schools!

      It should be compulsory in my opinion

      TheRenaissanceman65 thank you for taking the time to do that! I wrote the comment a year ago so I’m now settled in what party I will vote for, and their manifestos. I took most of the year to study up on politics, but I do believe it should be taught in schools so more young people feel educated enough to vote. But thank you! Whenever someone asks me what they should learn I will send them this bc you said it in such an easy way to understand

    • @TheLugiaSong
      @TheLugiaSong 5 лет назад +11

      Right! I'm always hesitant learning about politics because sometimes it's hard to identify if a source is neutral or not(even slightly, some people use biased words or phrasing). Even if they're supporting the views I do, I still don't want someone else influencing my views, just informing.

  • @PhoenixVert
    @PhoenixVert 7 лет назад +488

    Thank you for being so unbiased. It's so much easier to generate your own opinions when you're not being fed bias information.

    • @NickSBailey
      @NickSBailey 6 лет назад +19

      Mostly good though a little bias did creep in. It's true the conservatives are struggling to get policies through but it's largely down to divisions in their own party and not so much their small majority and other parties scuppering them. Also, Labour currently campaign from a platform highlighting the increasing wealth gap and that certainly isn't old-fashioned and is very much a current issue. None of this is the teacher's fault she did very well to keep bias out this is down to available information.

    the British voting system is wrong because it makes it difficult for smaller parties to get into power, a voting system similar to what they have in France would be fairer for British public.

    One small exception, not to be that guy but...while yes there are 650 constituencies, only 649 are contested. There's a gentleman's agreement between the major parties in the UK (Conservative, Labour, LD, Sinn Fein, Plaid Cymru, etc.) that the Speaker's seat is uncontested.

    Very informative. Slight right lean I would say. Illustrates how the right will try to keep divisions because it is easier to control. Labor unions (parties) represent the opposition. There are typically more of the lower class than the upper (middle class is eroding), so they keep the lower class arguing amongst themselves

Unless you've studied it, you only ever really hear about parliament in general over here (at least in my experience), but I think understanding at least a little more than just the general concept is better for understanding a lot of things in the UK as a whole and specific countries, so here I am. Granted, I'm four years late to the party, but thanks for the vid!
