I didn't expect that I could find a Thy Catafalque interview here. It and his music both are totally amazing! My fav album is Rengeteg. I'm not even aware of its pronounciation but I don't think I have to. The music talks itself. 🔥

I accidentally discovered thy Catafalque about 5-6 years ago, and slowly it became my favourite band together with Sigh. Older Tamas projects are awesome too Gire for example.

When I first saw the Alföld cover, I legitimately thought it was a picture of Franz Kafka

Alfold was one of my favourite albums of 2023. I really hope the new album isn't too much of a departure. 'Adventurous' is good, but 'bright' has me worried Jon.

It's quite different. Not as bleak as Aföld. More folk but not pop. Still totally Thy Catafalque.

Metal might be the only genre where people don't just stop finding new music once they turn 28 or 30 and then stay stuck in that mold. I love how metal is always pushing the boundaries, evolving, and even the old guys are always looking for new music.
I think part of that is, just a small part is if it weren't for metal I don't think recording technology would be as advanced. Literally pushing the physical limits of the hardware required to capture music and never succumbing to simply engineering things on pro tools, I think that even if a new band has no new riffs or styles to show you, what you can find is even more nuance, more detail, more fine tuning and more quality in the recording itself.
