As a gm1 genji main i agree with jake on a lot of things. I find it very interresting to see someone else coach someone on this hero since i have done the same, and think i understand the hero very well.
One thing that i always say is what makes genji so hard to master is that what you can get away with relative to how good mechanics you have. This is the same for a lot of heroes, but i would say for genji its very relevant.
Also the more risks you take the more you learn what you can deal with.
A lot of genjis end up playing poking genji to get blade, and that is def a way to play him. But its not even close to the value u can get from the hero. Assasin genji is def the way if you wanna reach high rank and use the hero to full potential. The more you understand when to be passive and when you can be an assasin or follow up on targets (timing) the more insane you become.
What makes genji soooo hard to master aswell is the animation canceling and 1 shot combos. The more consistant you get the more crazy stuff u can go for. And the better you get at the movement the more u can dodge and have better escape paths.
There is SOO much to touch on this hero and i love talking about him 🤓

@@draymonddream1316 good deflect cancel timing, wallclimb/dash to cancel the blade faster. when to rigth klick dash rigthclick, when to leftclick dash rigthclick. when to melee in general and knowing how much dmg you need. some combos like allways rigthclicking before deflecting (99% of the time), allways rigthclicking rigth before pulling out the blade. there are some INSANE cancels that i cant even do. Recently i learned that u can wallclimb between blade swings to swing a tiny bit faster (im not sure exactly if its even true but i saw necros do it once and it was insane). there is a lot.

I love that he explains from the perspective of different potential outcomes and levels of mechanics. Explaining what to do if you do or don't hit shots, land abilities or whatever might happen is so refreshing. A lot of coaching videos I see whoever is coaching seems to approach the game from their own mechanical level; whereas Jake explains what to do in the situations where something doesn't go right. Such a good video honestly.

Regarding Jake's topic on team play, I have to agree with him, I enjoy the game much more when I think of it from a team based sense, but, the level and scenario in which I play doesn't require that and doesn't make it optimal. Also, would be great to have elo specific tournaments even if there's no big reward.

That's why I enjoy the game way more when playing with friends, comp and quick play. Even if out calls are quite simple and we don't execute too complicated strats, it just feels so much better that when you call something out there's a higher chance it will be acted upon, your teammates will be consistent and it just also helps with mental.

The best educational one are the ones of "awkward" for me.
Very simple way of playing. Teaches you how to always stay alive and always bring value, no matter your aim. People in low ranks are often lost so they shoot tank or are healboting.
