Funny enough, my history teacher basically told us that the U.S. only filled trench space during WWI and contributed nothing to the war. I showed her some letters sent by members of my family who were in the army and navy, one of them had fought and died at the Argonne.
Yeah, the Germans were complaining about the US using shotguns for trench clearing as a hypothetical. Just in case those lazy Yanks finally get out of those trenches.
Even if they did just fill trench space which they didn't that could still win a war. Fresh people and equipment to refresh a side that is badly attrioned while the other side stays the same is a huge deal. Once america joined it was over there was no coming back for central powers after that. Which is why they tried so hard to end the war before america joined.
Hey I was wondering if you could start putting the songs you’re using in the descriptions of your videos? I love the Music in your videos I just.. don’t know what they are lmao, no pressure to do so just asking.
I really appreciate that you included colored troops in this video. Usually their contribution to the American part of WW1 is overlooked but they definitely played a big part.
You are my favourite RUclipsr and you inspire my channel a lot. Thanks man for your great work, I learn a lot about WW1 which is my most favourite field of history to learn.
Now that I rewatch this, I think you should've used Sabaton songs, like Devil Dogs for the Hill 142 and Hellfighters for the Harlem Hellfighters (obviously), and hey, if you ever come back to redo this, maybe you should use 82nd All the Way for an Alvin York reference! Edit: Irish troops would be a good idea too, because I believe like 100K+ fought with the American, and maybe a segment about Brownings wunderbar guns
I watched a “French pov in WW1” video of yours, and I’m surprised for more coming today Edit 2: the ending of this video was better than the others Edit 3: has anyone noticed when soldiers where in the forest there would be a black figure with white glowing eyes? I seen it whenever soldiers (on the povs) where lost in the forest
I swear i was jussst about to comment about not going shoutouts to the black soldiers that served like every single video on the history of a world war. But damn you genuinely impressed me and even named the battalions!
Its been a long time (2 months) since you haven't made a POV video of a WW1 Country. I have some ideas to continue your job as a great youtuber. Instead of POV videos, perhaps you can make videos of wojaks in ww1 uniforms, and infantry weapons. Or perhaps for POV videos, you can try Belgium (Necessary), Ottoman Empire (Necessary), Soviet Russia (1917-1918), Greece, Serbia (Necessary,) Bulgaria, Brazil, Portugal, Montenegro, White Army, Thailand and Japan. But yeah still remember you're my favourite youtuber and the best youtuber. I love your informative and accurate videos.
I really like this series, however I notice that we have almost covered all the countries in WW1, so maybe we could see WW2? just a thought. Love your channel
40000 Americans couldn’t wait for their country to join and they went north and joined the C.E.F. IIRC there is even a memorial in Arlington Cemetery for those men dying fighting for Canada in the war.
You drew them all wearing British uniforms... The US ones have a different collar, button arrangement, ammo webbing, and color. Be sure to make the uniforms correct first before making these! Other than that, great job. Also, thanks for the shoutout.
Dawg all things considered, they were pretty similar. How about you try making something creative yourself before you start giving other people criticism
@@aherooflegend3076 dawg I already did, I made the original version of this video lmaoooo (link in the description) Im actually the most qualified person to leave criticism so next time don't assume so much
@@fxlcovlxdimirthey used a lot of hand me down British and French uniforms. We only had our own uniforms and equipment ready by close to June 1918. It’s still accurate. Thank you for the great video,

05:04 Green seniority chevrons/good service chevrons? Ok. But the golden anchor on the collar? Nope. That would have been the naval infantry/colonial troops. And I think there would have been the Grenade with Seven Flames, in place of the standard infantry roundel on the helmet's front. Also,《La légion marche》was used by parachute units of the Foreign Legion after the 2nd WW, and the tune resembles that of a Waffen SS song called - in English - the Song of the Devil (《le Chant du Diable》, in French). A classic like《Le Boudin》would have been accurate.😊 But I also love《La Légion marche》.
Ah the battle of Belleau Wood! My old unit 2/6 was there. Our battalion was authorized to wear the French Fourragere on our dress alphas and dress blues.
I believe someone else in the comments mentioned the missed Lafayette American squadron, but regardless, this video was still worth the wait! I understand there's a lot of details to cover, but you do an amazing job portraying the different countries and the small details that may be lesser known. I understand there are a lot of other points of view you plan to cover, but I wanted to ask out of curiosity, do you plan to create a video covering Canada's point of view?
@@fxlcovlxdimir Thank you, it is very difficult to find World War I content these days and I have been following you since the beginning. (I apologize if there is any mistake in my sentence because I used translation)
I know a lot of people make jokes about yet many still don't know the realities the Americans went through and did through ww1 and sadly forgotten. I think we Americans got a bad misunderstood reputation when they fought in the war as a military force goes. People oddly think the US started off with no military unit ww1 started which is really strange and I'm not fully sure how that come to be. People forget we had a rather small for what it should be before the conflict started and what we should've had regardless as a standard force size goes a fairly large force by the we declared and went through aggressive updating and changings since the after math of the Spanish-American war. Another thing that I guess people just don't know about our history leading up until this point but we weren't lacking combat history maybe not on the scale or what we were going to find ourselves in sure but we had a lot of conflicts just from the start on the 20th century alone leading up to us joining in 1917. People think the first American losses in the war was in 1918 but we were losing personal since 1917 just shipping them over let alone the combat throughout 1917 and learning along the way. We really did lost a lot in short amount of time and maybe not by the time the nations went through already it shouldn't be ignored that is was one of the worst conflict the Us has ever had in terms of lives lost in such a short amount of time. I think we should rethink and learn about US went through at this time with a bit more respect is what I'm saying is all and knowing the context better.
I feel like American involvement in ww1 is so under appreciated. Which is rare because yanks are usually over represented in depictions of past conflicts.
