People come from literally all over the world to attend the Nation Finals Rodeo in Vegas. For the entire week of the rodeo in December, tourists cannot walk on the sidewalk in front of the Bellagio to enjoy the fountain show, because F1 dismantling has the street blocked, and Bellagio fountain views are obstructed by F1 grandstand structure breakdown. So now, other annual events are being negatively affected by the construction activities of a November weekend race. Unbelievable.

They will just use F1 as a scapegoat, casino resorts cut costs, raised prices and profits kept increasing so they patted themselves on the back pretending that its what the people want. People are beginning to find losing their tail every time they come and not even getting a cheap steak dinner as compensation isn't that fun.

Bingo. Build a race track nearby but outside of Vegas. Surround it with a few new resorts. If successful, people will either stay on The Strip, Downtown, or The Track. All those resorts would offers rooms facing the tracl (of course) and charge BIG BUCKS once a year. Oh, and inside the track could be one ginormous 'beach' and 'pool' where absolutely everyone can get a chaise. Overnight it would be the best pool in America.

@screenplayhouse4932 yeah all due respect you guys have no idea how modern motorsports work. F1 and the FIA as a whole are basically eliminating purpose built tracks in favor of more cash favorable street circuits. F1 would not be here if not for the strip. They don't give a damn about a purpose built track out here. They would leave if a designated circuit was built away from the glitz and glamor of the strip.

The loss of the nearly empty Trop and the Mirage didn't cause the decline in visitor volume and gambling revenue. Strip occupancy for Oct 23 was 89.6% and for Oct 24 it was 85.7% if the occupancy is lower and the strip lost 5% of it's room inventory (which it did not) then that means that there was an even larger drop as you would expect occupancy to go up and then you could argue that people aren't finding rooms, but that's not likely here. Also, for all of Vegas, the room inventory was only down 1% because of new resorts such as the Durango and Fountain Blu. The reason why visitors have dropped is due to the higher costs of a Vegas vacation, not because a small percentage of rooms were lost.

Just wanted to give a heads-up that you accidentally included the RUclips outro toward the beginning of your video this time around! 🙂
With regard to why Vegas numbers are down in the meantime, the answer is my mind is simple and two-pronged: Firstly F1 fatigue and migraines. During F1's inaugural year many didn't know what to expect and how it would shape out, but after millions visiting coped with all the exhausting and deteriorative effects of its set-up and take-down between September 2023 and January 2024, many haven't forgotten that and also warned their family and friends not to visit Vegas during those times..............and it has caught up to Vegas badly in F1's sophomore year here. Secondly: inflation and economic uncertainty is also catching up with more and more of us coupled with price-gouging, and they just don't have the money to visit Vegas as often as they'd like (and in some cases don't even want to because of perceptions of greed and avarice). Until one or both of those things are resolved, you'll see more results like this.

I think that analyzing LV declines and making a plan must be a real challenge. Looking at revenue is skewed because inflation means higher dollars for the same number of things. If revenue is down and prices are higher, then that is bleak. I wonder about the number of rooms booked, number of bets placed, number of show tickets sold. number of meals sold, number of drinks sold, number of flights, number of conventions, gallons of gas sold, number parking spaces taken (paid and free), number of uber rides and on and on. Compare that to other things like F1, number of rough people on the street, amount of trash on the street and what the city is doing (good and bad).

The removal of those two properties shouldn't affect the number of people traveling to Vegas or how much they spend. They didn't stay home because the Trop closed, they stayed home because they couldn't afford it or they just went to the next casino down the road. I think that guy is "wishful" thinking.
Finally, if you can afford two louis Vuitton bags and fancy jewelry you wouldn't be staying at the Orleans. She stole her own crap and is going to file insurance most likely.

What type of person would leave anything of value just out in the open in your room? 2 designer purses, credit cards, etc...? Maybe she picked up a escort and brought them to her room. I appreciate your discussion about gambling addiction.

Gentlemen: dislike Vegas these last years (approaching despise) but love your show. So RUclips decided not to offer you in my feed for a while. When I noticed you were gone, I had trouble remembering the name of this page and the host's name. I only remembered, "Hey Mark -- did you see --" and this gives me two ideas to share.
    1. I'd say midway thru each post Mark needs to say, "Hey Shawn, I've just got to say something about -- ". This would teach chowderheads like me Shawn's name.
    2. I have no connection to the name MILES TO MEMORIES. No clue what 'Miles' has to do with a Vegas page. 'Memories' also implies you're looking back at the good ol' days when really you're mostly reporting on new developments. Just doesn't stick.
The first re-title I'd offer (that is similar to what you have) is MAKING VEGAS MEMORIES. Making is present tense, but opens the door for your memories of Vegas too. And it gets rid of the 'Miles' thing.
An alternate title would focus on you two. SHAWN AND MARK VEGAS NEWS is a little on the nose, sure, but so much easier to remember. Something more poetic than that escapes me at the moment, but SHAWN AND MARK RAVE AND RANT ON VEGAS is kinda fun.
Just food for thought from a media critic trying to help.

And I’m sure Mark and Shawn both appreciate but don’t give 2 fucks about what you think. If they wanted to change the name of there page I’m sure they would have done it by now. But guess that THEY DON’T WANT TO CHANGE IT. !!!! So move on since you don’t like it or better yet create your own channel and you can call it I worry about everybody else. Get out of here with your Bull Shit.

Sports betting is a difficult game to beat, but most sports fans think that they are experts. The fact of the matter is that these sportsbooks have MIT PhDs in statistics setting up these bets. Sports bettors are outclassed in that area.

People think watching a lot of sports means they have an edge. Meanwhile anything they think of is already baked into the price. Most pro sports bettors these days don't even watch the games. It's just data crunching.

I was in Vegas this week and it is inexcusable to still have so much F1 crap up everywhere. Clearly MGM made a mandate to clear directly in front of the fountains, but to have that entire sidewalk blocked still is absolutely ridiculous. Makes the Bellagio an absolute zoo with people. Workers are taking their slow time taking stuff down. Koval still looks like a race could happen at any moment with light stands and grandstands still in most locations. Don't forget the Vegas flowers (road cones) are still everywhere. F1 needs to go elsewhere. It's a massive inconvenience From August - December for everyone. Talk about revenue decline, people want to avoid this time of the year because county reps want a "rich man" race for 3 days.

They should just take the seats and all of the F1 infrastructure (aside from walls) out of the Bellagio area. The constant bitching on social media about this is not worth it. Just put the podium over by the Sphere.

you are wrong about how Austin needs F1 i does not showcase Austin as destination spot. The race is out on the track miles from the city. Las Vegas shows the city in every camera angle, Every story on the broadcast its about the glamour of Vegas. the Gambling the shows .. AS for Vegas being number 1 for Gambling I thought that was Macau

Dudes. Chill. It takes the Grand Prix of Monaco 6 weeks to set things up and 3 weeks to tak things down, and they have some 7 decades of practice. If Las Vegas with just two races can get it all undone in 3 to 4 weeks, that is pretty darned good. 6-5 blackjack and triple and quadruple zero roulette does not help. Get rid of those and there would be more action. Also, while gambling revenue is down, how is overall revenue? A casino may be down on gambling revenue but had a big bump in food and other stuff.
Also, when travelling, unless you are uber-wealthy (or an idiot) you never, ever, ever travel with expensive good - like Louis Vuitton purses, Rolexes, stacks of money, and you leave your credit cards plopped about in your room, you are announcing "I have money" and just make yourself a target. Either that or the woman is trying to pull some sort of scam.........
