Unfortunately running the risk of accidentally shooting your partner was very high in this situation do to the very narrow hallway. The officer sustained injuries but at least he didn't die as a result of friendly fire. Sometimes you get dealt a shit sandwich and have to make the best of it. Showing restraint and not shooting as your partner being stabbed is very tough. But as soon as the officer pushed the suspect into the room and was able to create distance they engaged him as necessary.

I'm honestly amazed how long it took for them between the fight, from the first marshal getting stabbed to the shooting. There was over 18 seconds between the stabbing to the first shot.
Hesitation never used to be a problem. Five years ago they wouldn't have waited so long.
Everything the officers did in this video is wrong. Wrong approach. Wrong tactics.
Wrong weapons. Wrong number of officers. Wrong time of day.
