In an intensive subsistence farming there is a small part of a land using some simple tools then why there is more number of labourers working as there is no need of that

Some people are doing shifting cultivation but after doing farming on a particular land then where the people are going and what about the land on which they have already cultivated
when the people do shifting cultivation on a particular land , they cultivate it continuously for 2 to 3 years till the land becomes unproductive . then they go to some other part of the forest to repeat the same process there too and cultivate the land and the land which they already cultivated is left behind so that pants and trees can naturally grow there and it get a bit fertile
