As a relatively new lapidary artist I've yet to learn how to cut gemstone eggs, I will soon though since I'm starting to see how popular they are. Thank you for sharing this collection with us.
I was not aware that this was so popular. Thank you for sharing this with us. I have been collecting for many decades all sizes and stone types of Eggs. I guess I have a lot more Eggs to investigate!
These are beautiful! Thank you for sharing this story. This is one of the things I miss about working in a museum gift shop. I'd love to see this collection in person.
Love hearing about the eggs! I have gems in all different kinds of shapes as I’m a collector. Keep up the good work and thank you! Would love to hear about best ways to sell gem stone collections too.
i love gemstone eggs and spheres i've been collecting them for a couple of years, have a few dozen so far.after seeing this video I need to start hunting for some of the rarer ones. thanks man love your videos
I have 24 of these eggs. Different gems and minerals. They are larger than the size of a jumbo egg. Not the small ones. They are just beautifully shaped and polished, they are fantastic. My favorites are Dalmation (jasper), Amethyst and citrine. You can still find them on online auction sites and gem/ geological shows. Thank you so much for doing this video!
I have a Chinese marble game board with 1.25” spheres of polished gemstones and minerals. I love just looking and touching the spheres of rose quartz, tiger eye, jasper, labradorite and other ones. What a great video and eggs! All those minerals! So lovely!
I have 2 eggs, carved from an unknown substance. I always supposed that they were marble. 1 egg has been painted on, & 1 of the "cups" is enameled. The other cup is brass. They were given to me by a dear lady of German ancestry. If I could post a picture, I would.
You are right I knew Mr Jerusalem and his wife personally , it was back to about 25 years ago and I have had amount of Gemstone eggs which were the original collection of him that I have bought from him , during that time he ran his own company trommelstein Jerusalem in Idar Oberstein .Unfortunately , the company exist no more
I personally have a few gemstone eggs myself pyrite one is really cool I ordered a bloodstone one. And when I got it it was literally the size of a bird egg which I think is even cooler. It looks just like a birds egg. You have to watch ordering online when there several pictures and the person pucks the stone for you upon ordering. Because you rarely get what you thought you wanted. I ordered a star rose quartz sphere. When I got it it was just a rose quartz sphere no Star.
The EGG has ancient meanings: The Cosmic Egg of the universe. Tsar of Russia, The Romanov's commissioned the grand Faberge Eggs Only modern times do people think of them as just Easter Eggs, but of old, are very significant symbolism's. I'm sure Dieter Jerusalem understands the depth of ancient meanings as well. Enjoying your videos!
Wow, such an amazing display. How big are they, i mean in inches, like a real egg size?. He certainly is a man dedicated to his craft. Thanks for sharing. cheers from Australia.
