The pick itself isn't the problem. Now, if they're gonna play him above an actual rotational play they're setting themselves for failure (unless he is actually decent).

@@diegodelcid2235 The Lakers simply are not good enough to waste a draft pick on someone who's not gonna play and lowers team morale because his Daddy got him the job. They barely made the play-in game last yr and need a rookie who can contribute.

The Kings ended last season as the 14th best defensive team, were a top 10 defense post all star break and got rid of their worst defensive starter in Harrison Barnes. And replaced him with DeRozan who grades as an average defender at worst. I feel like the narrative that they aren't good defensively is overblown and just lazy at this point.

Phoenix bench production will be bottom of the league? That is quite a claim. I'm going to have to bookmark this video and come back to it. Phoenix improved their bench quite a bit from last year.

I'd argue for the Mavs that the backcourt defense isn't their biggest issue because both Luka & Kyrie took stride into improving defensively, which they did. Not to say they'll be elite, but they were very competent defenders last season.
In my opinion, as someone who mostly watches the Mavericks. The biggest issue is going to be coaching.
Jason Kidd is far from being a coaching savant being inconsistent in rotations, calling timeouts, and making creative offensive plays.
It's never been Luka's fault for having the ball. It's always been the coaching, which they need to figure out how to include Klay in the offense instead of being a simple spot up shooter
Kidd is a great coach. He's got them to the conference finals and the finals in 3 years.
@TheMockedy don't let the achievements blind you from Kidd overall performance as a coach.
I think Kidd has actually been underperforming as a coach because there were many questable decisions that cost the team wins or other achievements
