This song heavily showcases the rapline, obviously bc of the subject matter, but also bc that’s how the majority of early BTS songs were structured back then. This song came out on their 1st full length album in 2014 (1 year after their debut) and since BTS debuted with hip hop as their primary genre, most of the songs on their early EPs and albums heavily featured the rapline.
I was disappointed that Suga didn't list some of his inspirations too lmao (to partly answer your question tho, on Jimmy Fallon, he said the first album he bought was an eminem CD), but I think he also might not have wanted the song to start feeling repetitive. I remember when he was talking about their song "Converse High," where he had the last verse out of the rap line - Suga said he wrote almost the opposite idea of the other two because he didn't want it to be too similar lol.
Namjoon's biggest inspiration is actually Nas, not sure about an exact person for J hope and Suga. But RM has mentioned Nas multiple times (: and yes you are correct, although rapline is obviously more invested in hip hop, the vocal line grew up listening to it. He goes on to say that there is, of course, a dictionary definition of hip-hop (and talks abt DJ Kool Herc and the 4 elements in hip-hop) but states that trying to define the spirit of hip-hop is smt that can't be simply explained. Instead, he describes what hip-hop means to him, specifically: a way for him to express freedom and rebellion. But he adds that others can see hip-hop as smt else to them too. Love your channel! Especially love when you react to BTS songs that are predominantly hip hop/rap, you get really into the analysis of them. I'd love to see your analysis/reaction to Agust D The Last
Hey, guys. First, thanks for all of the reactions you've done. Have mainly stopped by for Black Pink and some Stray Kids stuff. I appreciate what you do. I don't see a recent reaction video relevant enough to the group I'm going to make a reaction suggestion for, so I'm just going to shamelessly plug them here. If you're currently accepting any new groups, I suggest checking out Dreamcatcher. They are a seven member K-pop girl group that debuted in 2017. Known for their darker concepts (serious, dystopian, and/or spooky) and for being the only group to incorporate rock into all of their title tracks in some manner. Their earlier rock sound was heavily influenced by J-rock/pop (anime intros). As time went on, their rock sound evolved into a more modern rock sound and they started mixing/blending in other genres. Almost all of their MVs are story driven. Some storylines span multiple MVs and others are standalone. All amazing vocalists (even their two rappers). Easily one of the most unique groups you'll find in K-pop. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, I'd suggest one of these two songs as a starter depending on what interests you more: - "BEcause" (2021) - Latest title track. Creepy af. Song lyrics are about obsessive love and the MV concept involves doppelgangers. The MV and choreo are influenced by, and have references to, the movie "Us". - "Scream" (2020) - First song in their "Dystopia" trilogy. The trilogy addresses and calls out anonymous harassment, bullying, and our obsession with technology to try and escape that tough reality. Harassment and bullying can be a big issue for idols and it's one of those topics people really don't want to talk about. This project was apparently spurred by some idol suicides that happened around that time. It's all handled with well though out lyrics and a shit load of symbolism in the MVs. (Make sure the subtitle language selected is basic English and not the UK English.) If you decide to give them a chance, a pre-emptive thank you. If you don't don't react to them, you should really check them out when you have some free time. Again, thanks for all of the reactions! (For some reason, I wasn't subscribed. I really thought I was. This has been corrected. Also, I was a heathen at the time I originally watched your videos and didn't give out likes. Went back through and sent some likes to all of the stuff I watched before. Good times. 😂)

Rm biggest rap influence is NAS
please react "zoo" from nct and aespa, it's fucking perfect
If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, I'd suggest one of these two songs as a starter depending on what interests you more:
- "BEcause" (2021) - Latest title track.
(Make sure the subtitle language selected is basic English and not the UK English.)
If you decide to give them a chance, a pre-emptive thank you.
Good times. 😂)
