@@AussieGunzel Collectors like you are exactly who I want to speak for in this video. It's a shame that the model was canceled. May those you knew rest in peace. We will never forget, nor will we stop looking.
50% of my die-cast collection is made of aircraft involved in accidents/incidents. AF447, SR111, and Pan Am 1736. I agree with you I collect because of history. Thank you.
It was a pretty cool release but one major criticism I have was the box, the box background was a bunch of puzzle pieces with each one of the pieces saying where and how which I thought was a bit immature and I feel like making another box design this time showcasing the remembrance of the tragedy would be better. I feel like that’s why some people were uncomfortable with the release but I feel like Ng canceling the release is a bit too much. But seriously the fact that people are offended by a plane model is insane and shows how sensitive people are these days.
I very much side with you, there were some really annoying people out there who ultimately ruined it for others. I myself have the Phoenix Models Malaysia Airlines 777 that was involved in the MH17 shoot down but was painted in a special livery when it initially entered service. And yes you are very correct about how it wasn’t the first time a model was made based off an aircraft involved in a fatal incident, one of their Saudia L-1011s was involved in an incident in which two passengers were ejected from the aircraft from explosive decompression causing by a landing gear tire.
JC wings release 9M-MRO back then in 1:400 and 1:200 even tho their boxes were more respectable no one was offended by it. Well that being said maybe Ng models should of done that and also JC wings wasnt that popular at the time so people weren’t so sensitive I guess.
That's something I didn't address, the box art. I firmly believe it's the model that counts, but I also agree that the box art could have been slightly better. They were confused but they had the spirit.
Why would NG Models side with the few collectors who were offended by that Malaysia 777 release. The collectors that were offended simply don’t buy the model.
There were people from my suburb who were on MH370 and personally I want to get a model of 9M-MRO just for a memorial in their memory.
